Has anyone taken Lysol on a plane before? DD gets sick easy and i have heard about a nasty virus going around in disney and i am trying to do my best to prevent it as long as possiable. i have lots of hand sanitizer packed and i wanted to take a disinfectant also. I just dont want it to explode on the plane.

You will not be able to bring a regular size aerosol can with you as it exceeds the amount allowed under TSA regualtions. I have traveled with a small travel-size Lysol, plus hair spray and they do not explode.

You may consider Lysol wipes instead, but if you want a small can of aerosol Lysol, try google Minimus travel sizes. That's where I get my small size Lysol.

Officially, aerosol Lysol is banned on planes, in both carryon AND checked baggage, because it *is* flammable, and not meant to be applied to the human body. This is not a TSA regulation, it is an FAA regulation against carriage of non-toiletry flammables. (FTR, spray starch is banned by the same regulation. Hair spray is not, because it is meant to be applied to the body.)

That said, sometimes it gets through, both carryon (if you have the tiny size) and checked, if you have a larger can. Just know that if it is seen, it may be confiscated. You wouldn't get in trouble for trying to take it -- they would just take it away from you.

Please do not spray the plane down with Lysol. That would be really inconsiderate.

The wipes make a lot more sense. Unscented or fragrance-free wipes, if they exist, make the MOST sense.

While they are dampened, the TSA does not consider them liquid - therefore, there is no restriction on the container size.

thanks for the advice. i wasn't going to pack the lysol in my carryon. and i would never spray something like that on an airplane, i think it would be rude. i just wanted to be able to spray down the room when we got back because i know that we will be carring a lot of germs, but i think i will just take the wipes and play it safe. Thanks everyone!

i've seen those mini lysol aerosl sprays for sale in the post-security gift shops last week.

Please please dont even consider spraying your bedroom or anywhere else with Lysol.. its a pesticide and as such causes many illnesses. I thought this stuff had been banned like DDT... how dangerous for our health.. even spraying perfume on a plane is inconsiderate and dangerous to others with MCS or breathing difficulties.
