In honor of adisneygal's groom's cake from Sprinkles, I present to you one of their classiest offerings in the groom's cake department:

And here we were just talking about one's inner Johnson...:rotfl:

:rotfl2:

First, if you haven't heard already, today is Ben & Jerry's

 Free Cone Day

from noon-8pm...

OK, update: So today I tweaked my ADRs a little (just the times) and started entering them in TripIt.com. I realized that I didn't have a handy way to keep track of park hours, and when I went to Disney's website, the May hours wouldn't even load! (I later found that going to the UK version of WDW's site let me access the old-style calendar, which loads just fine).

So I was painstakingly entering the park hours into the Notes app on my iPhone when it occurred to me that there might be an iPhone app for this sort of thing.

Lo and behold, there are two! One just came out today, and one's been around for a few weeks. I picked the latter cuz I liked the interface better. It's normally $3.99, which apparently a lot of people think is too much for an app, but it's on sale for Spring Break at $2.99.

It's called WDWToday, and it shows you all the parks' hours on one page at a glance, plus it gives recommendations on parks to avoid. I dunno if they're as accurate as Tour Guide Mike's - but since they're also based on the Extra Magic Hour schedule, they're pretty close. It also tells you parade and show times. I'm so excited about this app, it makes me wanna plan another trip just to use it again! :cutie:

Cake of the Day!

In honor of Free Cone Day, here is a pic of the disastrous ice cream cake I made DH for his birthday a few years ago. First, I made the mistake of using Dreyer's Fully Loaded Frozen Dessert Product, which is packaged like and sold with the other Dreyer's ice cream but does not have the words "ice cream" anywhere on the carton, cuz apparently it's not actually ice cream! It also does not freeze like ice cream, so it began oozing from all sides of the cake the instant I applied the frosting.

Add to that the cheesy Star Wars Yoda figurine from our local supermarket bakery (the light saber was s'posed to light up but didn't...) and the running out of room to write my message.... it was a genuine cake wreck... :lmao:

The apps are very cool!

I think that cake is adorable! You were sweet to make it for him. So what if it had a few 'malfunctions'. It was from the heart, right?

Oh my gosh, I owe you guys so much cake! :sad2: But first...

Exactly one week from tonight at this time I will be sitting on the tarmac (I mean, you know, inside a plane) at LAX waiting to take off for DISNEY WORLD!

OK, back to our regularly scheduled cake.... I'm gonna cheat and use our wedding cake, but I'll give you one for today and one for yesterday!

I think it will look close to the wedding day cake, but with no topper. So it wont be the same. If that makes sences?
Not sure if you have seen a photo of the cake, so here is one.

Oooooh! Pretty! I love the color. I can't wait to see what they do with your re-creation! :thumbsup2

So how do you like your new app? I had looked at that one and wasn't sure. I got the MK, Epcot, DtD map ones and made a home button of allears.net/dinning.

I have an AllEars menu home button too! Although now that I have the WDW Dining app, I may not use it as much. But I love AllEars.

You should definitely hang in there til June, cuz yeah, they're almost certainly coming out with a new one then. It absolutely *killed* me to wait two or three years (or whatever) for the G3 to debut last summer, but I was so glad I'd waited. Now I'll prolly throw it over it for the new one. :hyper:

I'll have to check out that app really cool. I downloaded tripit after you posted about it & I have our flight/car rental/hotel ressies etc in there. It's really great! Are you getting excited yet Carrie?:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Oh yes! I forgot to post it here, but I got super-revved up when I saw it was only 12 days away. Now it's only a week away!

Well I think our schedual is set and unforachatly Carrie, we are not in the same parks as you are on the same days. But we still may run into you. We get to Pop on April 30 and leave May 5. April 30, we are doing MK afternoon with CP at 3:30 for early dinner.(going to MK because its close to GF for cake pick up) May 1, MK again and maybe an Epcot evening. May 2 AK, May 3 Typoon Laggon with Ohana for dinner popcorn:: May 4 Epcot May 5 not sure, its our last day, flying out at 5:?? pm

You know, I'll bet we run into each other without even trying - WDW is such a small town! :rotfl:

ok I want an iphone lol

Join us!!! [insert brainwashed smiley here]

California Adventure has awesome fudge! Or, at least they did when I went for Thanksgiving (and I had gotten it during the summer before that). It's in the candy shop just off of... uh... whatever CA's equivalent of Main St. is.

Anyway, it's awesome. And yes - so is the cookie boat! :goodvibes We only got it once, but it's a classic.

Do they have... cupcakes anywhere? :rotfl:

Yes! I got a ginormous one at the Winnie the Pooh candy shop. However, it was just so-so. :snooty:

OK, so... how did the app work? Were enough people updating the ride times to make them accurate?

I dl'd TripIt last night, and so far I love it! I'm planning a girl's weekend this weekend, so it's coming in handy to keep all our plans in one place. I haven't used it much on the iPhone yet, though. You may have to add an app-of-the week post to your PTR! I love to hear about other people's good finds in the App Store.

Can't wait to read more! I may have to print your To-Eat, To-Do list and save it for my '10 trip. Especially the To-Eat list. ESPECIALLY the Oreo! And the Ghiradelli. Oh crap, the whole durn thing.

Hi!!! :wave2: Glad to see you here, and to know you're handling the steady stream of sugary images well. :rotfl: Definitely share if you come across iPhone apps you think we should all try! :goodvibes

The apps are very cool!

I think that cake is adorable! You were sweet to make it for him. So what if it had a few 'malfunctions'. It was from the heart, right?

Yes - you are right! And he's so sweet, he didn't care. I should post a picture of the big ol' slab of cake he cut for himself! :lmao:

I'm looking forward to reading another one of your reports.:thumbsup2
I love your “To Eat” list. You’ve inspired me to create one of my own.

OK, not much to report on the planning aspect today, except that one week from right now Jensey and I will be being wheeled outta the Akershus Princess Storybook Fantasy Festival of Dining: The Experience! on stretchers (possibly because we ate too much, possibly because we got decked by the princesses for mocking them...)

But I found a fabulous Cake o' the Day shaped like Disneyland's Mark Twain Riverboat from a vintage ad for Spreckels sugar!

Today I'm going shopping for tiny containers to put my 86 bazillion skincare products in. It's not exciting, but it's enough to bump up this thread! :rotfl:

The Cake of the Day is one of the many in my wedding cake idea file. I love the colors!

loving all the cake! And all the free research you all are doing for me for the iPhone applications! :rotfl2:

I do have a question though, do you happen to know if the iPhone applications will work on the iPod Touch? The hubby has been drooling over the Touch for the longest time, and the last thing I need is word that there are Disney applications available, that may just crumble my willpower! He also likes the iPhone, but here in Canada you can't get the phone without getting the ridiculously over priced data package along with it.

yay for leaving in one week, JEALOUS!!!

This one's for you, Carrie :rotfl: Behold, my stale Disneyland cupcake!

And because I know you're as much of a Haunted Mansion fan as Will and I are ;)

IMG_0549cropped.jpg

As for the iPhone app, for those of you wondering, it came in pretty handy! I used the 'iParked' feature to input where we parked, the park map itself (which could be better, honestly, when you zoom in - it gets pixelated), and the attraction list with wait times. There were a lot more times the day we went than any other day this week, which was nice, and I made a point to input my own wait times whenever we went on something. I also told the app that I had a Fastpass for Space Mountain, expecting it to remind me, but it didn't. Maybe I didn't set it correctly.

Anyway, it's a handy little thing, but I wish it had California Adventure, Downtown Disney, and hotel restaurant info - which it does not. I'd still say its usefulness is worth the $2.99 it costs, though ;)

Anyway... not wanting to hijack your thread... I just know some of ya'll were wondering about it :goodvibes

I am very excited that your trip is getting so close!

Just so ya know - I have found some Kidani pictures showing up on the boards, so the pressure is off, you don't have to become an expert photographer like Patrick afterall!

I'm on the sea side of "All things Disney" but your trip reports have caught my attention. Love em!

That's a really good question! I just did a quick tutorial online, and it llooks like iPod Touch is identical to the iPhone in its capabilities, except for the 3G network. So if you have a WiFi connection you can shop the App store and use the apps just like on an iPhone. The problem might be using some of the apps when you're actually in the parks because, as far as I know, there are no WiFi networks avaialble there. There's WiFi at the resorts, but it costs $10 for 24 hours - booo! However, I would think that the menu app wouldn't need wifi to work. The info is prolly just stored in the application. Not sure about the park horus app, though...

This one's for you, Carrie :rotfl: Behold, my stale Disneyland cupcake!

Hey, that thing looks pretty tasty - how was it?

Also, thanks for the review on the Disneyland app. I may wait a little longer on that one...

Whew!!! :cutie: I can't wait to see it in person, though.

Ahoy, matey! Thanks for comin' ashore to join me landlubbin' pre-trip report! pirate:

OK, who wants to see some stuff I bought? :teeth:

On Sunday I hit Bed, Bath & Beyond's Wall o' Travel Crap and discovered some pretty nifty stuff.

I'm sure you all knew about these, but I was delighted to find "TSA-safe" carry-on kit that had little pots and bottles in it, plus sticky labels for all of them! Most of the travel kits I've seen over the years have, like, three ginormous bottles in them and that's it. This one has 7 tiny pots that will be perfect for stuff I don't use a lot of, like eye serum. And there's even a small spray bottle for my Model in a Bottle makeup sealant (cuz I think it's gonna be HOT at WDW!).

photo-20.jpg

The other thing I'm most excited about was an impulse buy, but I think it was a good one. I got my hair chemically straightened again in January, but it's starting to get kinky at the roots, so I was gonna bring my big dumb straightening iron. But BB&B had (in the Wall o' Travel Crap - brilliant!) a tiny ceramic straightening iron that turns out to work better than my huge cheap-o one! And it was only $30 ($20 after my coupon). Hooray!

photo-19.jpg

The other thing I went shopping for on Saturday was a cute dress to wear to the PassPorter Party, since they're going to be taking a group shot of us that will be immortalized in the 2010 PassPorter. But I couldn't find anything that wasn't too short or too long (who knew you could actually be too tall to wear a maxi dress?) so I guess I'll have to recycle some other outfit. Plus, there will be 79 other people in the shot - surely I can hide behind a few of them!

On the plus side, and totally unrelated to my trip report or anything resembling an interesting update, I got a giant bottle of the perfume I wore on my wedding day on clearance at Anthropoligie - whohoo!

Cake o' the Day

We went to see Disney Nature: Earth at Disney's El Capitan Theater last night (they had live animals on stage before the show!), and I noticed they'd switched out the pathetic-looking cake in their "Have your Birthday Party at the El Capitan" display case for a nature-themed one.

Here's a pathetic-looking photo of it!

photo-22.jpg

I have stayed away from your pre trippie out of my depression that this time next week, I was suppose to be there, but you lured me back with cake!

 Aw.... I'm sad you won't be there too! ...Mostly because you are the one who knows how to get that free birthday cupcake at the Plaza :rotfl:

At least you have a trip to look forward to later this year. Some of us don't know when we'll ever get back! :sad1: (I mean, after the trip that some of us are taking in 4 days....)

Well rub it in with that last line!!

No cake for you!
