Lurkyloo Does WDW: Solo Banzai Run for PassPorter’s Decade of Dreams!

I love your 'to dos' and 'to eat'. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

That Boston Cream looks dreamy. Look at what time it is.
:lmao:

Are we going to start posting ice cream here too? Because, I don't think my inner Johnson will allow me to passively gawk at ice cream! I'll be forced to go EAT ice cream - I'm not saying that's a bad thing....I'm just sayin'!

For the sundae flavor vote - I'm going with "Strike it Rich". That just sounds yummy. I would like to try that peanut butter one but, am nervous about it being 'goopy'. Who needs that?!

Here's my addition to the drool-worthy list:Chocolatier-Blue. I tried them on wednesday and fell in LOVE with the peanut butter jelly heart (and I loathe jelly!). I ate FOUR of them and then had to buy a box to share. They are the prettiest chocolates I've seen and taste divine.

I may be persuaded, Carrie, to bring you some on my next visit!

Carrie,

Don't forget that I also discovered an amazingly good chocolate peanut butter cupcake at Starring Rolls that you should try if you get the chance!

Anyhow, thank you for the information. We may save the $60 and go have a nice dinner and get a piece of cake at the Boardwalk.

Oooh! Let me know how it turns out!

WOWZA that boston cream cake looks like it's 3D & reaching out to me!!!! Yummo. Love the to do/to eat list..........
I wanna hear all about all of them, but I am especially interested to hear about the Flights of Wonder at DTD.......It's got Mary Poppins silhouette on it......scree!!!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes We might just have to do that ourselves on our Friday/goof off/DTD day.

Oh yeah – I’ll bet you’d like it! You can pretend to be Mary Poppins sailing over London, if London looked like Downtown Disney (maybe go at night?).... I’ll have to be sure I start the trippie before you leave!

I think I am gonna have to buy one of these to compare to the wedding cake. We are having the Disney wedding cake and a grooms cake from Sprinkles, hopefully I can work more cake in...:rotfl:

Oh my gosh – that’s the Sprinkles that always used to come up when I was searching for Sprinkles Cupcakes!

I think Sprinkles Cupcakes must’ve bought the domain from them b/c now www.sprinkles.com takes you to my Sprinkles...

Anyway, their stuff looks good – I can’t wait to see pix of your groom’s cake!

A lurker popping in to tell you, in case you don't already know, Sci Fi has a Peanut Butter Cake that I have read rave reviews of on various TRs, served at lunch and dinner. I believe it's a fairly new addition to the menu!

WHOA! Time to edit the To Eat list.... Thanks!

Oh would you, Please! I will be staying there in June and I can't wait until people start posting Kidani pics! This will be my second family DVC trip, and the nicest resort I have stayed in to date, so I am super excited! :woohoo:

Carrie - I know if you post pics they will be good!

:rotfl: But Patrick takes all my pictures, and he’s not going! I’ll do my best, however. Heck, I should bribe Jensey to do it – now those would be good pictures!

Whaaaaaaaaaaat! That looks amazing. (How did I miss that the first time I read your post????????)

I dunno, but thanks for quoting it so we can all see it again!

:cloud9: Cake!! :cloud9:

Carrie, all of these delicious pictures have inspired me to share with you (and all these other fabulous DISers) my two favourite cake recipes. Both super easy and SOOOO good!

ENJOY!!! :goodvibes Hopefully you can make these and eat them while you continue to keep us posted on all of your trip details!

Whohoo! I love recipes – thanks! These sound really tasty....

I was boring and went for the world famous sundae. It was still yummy though. I think I will have to try the one that you like next time. I would love to try them all!! :cool1:

Now there is a worthy goal – trying every sundae on Ghirardelli’s menu. :teeth:

I love your 'to dos' and 'to eat'. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hee hee hee!

For the benefit of the rest of my readers, I would like to explain that Anita’s reference to her “inner Johnson” is not filthy-dirty – she is referring to DH’s family’s passion for ice cream - which extends to breakfast! :lmao:

I tried them on wednesday and fell in LOVE with the peanut butter jelly heart (and I loathe jelly!). I ate FOUR of them and then had to buy a box to share. They are the prettiest chocolates I've seen and taste divine.

I don’t believe you. No way could jelly ever taste good! :upsidedow

Carrie,

Don't forget that I also discovered an amazingly good chocolate peanut butter cupcake at Starring Rolls that you should try if you get the chance!

Oooh – thanks for the reminder! Adding to the list....

In honor of adisneygal's groom's cake from Sprinkles, I present to you one of their classiest offerings in the groom's cake department:

groom013.jpg

And here we were just talking about one's inner Johnson...:rotfl:

Hey Carrie, we just order the $60 cake today. I shouldn't be shocked at the cost, heck the wedding cake wasn't cheep and it was only three layers. :lmao:

It will be interesting to see how it turns out. We aren't doing the castle topper.

I'll post photos when we get back. Pat has been very helpful in planning this. Which is really nice.

Hey Carrie! I'm going to DL on Thurs with my mom & niece, and I need a dessert recommendation! ;)

I like chocolate, but not gobs of it (like solid chocolate fudge cake with chocolate on top - too rich!), chocolate peanut butter is OK but not my fav (blasphemy! :sad1:), and I DO like fruity flavored stuff. Also, no nuts or white chocolate.

It can be anywhere in either park or Downtown Disney.

So whatcha got for me? :rotfl:

(Dole Whips are on the list no matter what).

:rotfl: But Patrick takes all my pictures, and he’s not going! I’ll do my best, however. Heck, I should bribe Jensey to do it – now those would be good pictures!

Well either a little bit of Patrick's picture taking mojo must rub off on you in the next week or you will have to bribe Jensey. Any pictures, good, bad, or otherwise, will be greatly appreciated! :flower3:

That is so good to hear. One of the reason's we did an Epcot DP for our anniversary was so we could do an end-run around Pat's predecessor, Linda, cuz I'd heard how difficult she was to work with.

I cannot wait to see pix - are you doing a variation on the wedding cake or a whole new style? popcorn::

best groom's cake pic. ever!

I dunno - you haven't seen the one with the three frogs and actual cans of Budweiser on top! :rotfl:

OK, this may come as a shock, so I hope you're sitting down, but my favorite dessert at Disneyland is a peanut butter chocolate milkshake from Haagen Dazs on Downtown Disney - talk about blasphemy! I just don't think Disneyland's desserts are very good. Plus, none of the Haagen Dazs shops in my neck of the woods have Deep Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream, so at least if I'm going to a chain while at Disney, I'm getting something site-specific! :cutie:

But since choc + pb is not your fave, I would recommend any of their other flavors in a sundae or a Dazzler (although the latter may be too rich for your taste - it's certainly too big!).

Inside the park, I think the best place for candy-type desserts is Pooh Corner, or whatever it's called - at the exit to the Pooh ride. But I can't really recommend anything there that's, like, amazing. :confused3 Supposedly Disneyland used to make amazing fudge, but now it's either been completely discontinued or is only available seasonally - not sure what's going on with it. I never tried it, though...

The cookie boat dessert at the Blue Bayou is pretty good, if you can get a ressie there. And I'm a fan of the decorate-it-yourself cake/cookie (I think it's a cookie these days) that they serve at the Princess Cattle Call in the Fantasyland Theater, but mostly because I like to eat the frosting straight from the cup... :rotfl:

That's right up there with the armadillo cake in Steel Magnolias! :rotfl:

:lmao:

Aye, aye, Cap'n! :sail:

First, if you haven't heard already, today is Ben & Jerry's

 Free Cone Day

from noon-8pm...

OK, update: So today I tweaked my ADRs a little (just the times) and started entering them in TripIt.com. I realized that I didn't have a handy way to keep track of park hours, and when I went to Disney's website, the May hours wouldn't even load! (I later found that going to the UK version of WDW's site let me access the old-style calendar, which loads just fine).

So I was painstakingly entering the park hours into the Notes app on my iPhone when it occurred to me that there might be an iPhone app for this sort of thing.

Lo and behold, there are two! One just came out today, and one's been around for a few weeks. I picked the latter cuz I liked the interface better. It's normally $3.99, which apparently a lot of people think is too much for an app, but it's on sale for Spring Break at $2.99.

It's called WDWToday, and it shows you all the parks' hours on one page at a glance, plus it gives recommendations on parks to avoid. I dunno if they're as accurate as Tour Guide Mike's - but since they're also based on the Extra Magic Hour schedule, they're pretty close. It also tells you parade and show times. I'm so excited about this app, it makes me wanna plan another trip just to use it again! :cutie:

Cake of the Day!

In honor of Free Cone Day, here is a pic of the disastrous ice cream cake I made DH for his birthday a few years ago. First, I made the mistake of using Dreyer's Fully Loaded Frozen Dessert Product, which is packaged like and sold with the other Dreyer's ice cream but does not have the words "ice cream" anywhere on the carton, cuz apparently it's not actually ice cream! It also does not freeze like ice cream, so it began oozing from all sides of the cake the instant I applied the frosting.

Add to that the cheesy Star Wars Yoda figurine from our local supermarket bakery (the light saber was s'posed to light up but didn't...) and the running out of room to write my message.... it was a genuine cake wreck... :lmao:

I had heard of Linda. When I started out, I was planning a privet dinning at GF. Called Linda, she emailed me the info and I emailed her back. I got lost in the shuffle, when she left. But no one told me she was gone. I waited a week and half and gave up on the privet dinning and started to do dinning reservations at other locations.

I think it will look close to the wedding day cake, but with no topper. So it wont be the same. If that makes sences? :confused3 Pat pulled up our cake info I guess on a computer. lol So it should be the same color, size, shape, should have sea shells, star fish and sea houses. I say it should have those things, because I just don't trust that it will I don't want to be disapointed. My wedding flowers were the wrong color so after that I trust no one. :rotfl: As long as it taste good, I'll be happy. DH loved the peanut butter with choc cake and he doesn't eat sweets, so I was shocked.

Not sure if you have seen a photo of the cake, so here is one.

So how do you like your new app? I had looked at that one and wasn't sure. I got the MK, Epcot, DtD map ones and made a home button of allears.net/dinning. There was another app I really wanted, but you need the G3. I want to upgrade, but I hear there could be a new one coming out in June.

I'll have to check out that app really cool. I downloaded tripit after you posted about it & I have our flight/car rental/hotel ressies etc in there. It's really great! Are you getting excited yet Carrie?:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Janell.....your wedding cake is gorgeous. Hope your anniversary cake is what you want it to be!!!!

Oh you ladies are making me want that app! I may just have to get it. :lmao:
Thank you Melanie.

Well I think our schedual is set and unforachatly Carrie, we are not in the same parks as you are on the same days. But we still may run into you. We get to Pop on April 30 and leave May 5. April 30, we are doing MK afternoon with CP at 3:30 for early dinner.(going to MK because its close to GF for cake pick up) May 1, MK again and maybe an Epcot evening. May 2 AK, May 3 Typoon Laggon with Ohana for dinner popcorn:: May 4 Epcot May 5 not sure, its our last day, flying out at 5:?? pm

California Adventure has awesome fudge! Or, at least they did when I went for Thanksgiving (and I had gotten it during the summer before that). It's in the candy shop just off of... uh... whatever CA's equivalent of Main St. is.

Anyway, it's awesome. And yes - so is the cookie boat! :goodvibes We only got it once, but it's a classic.

Do they have... cupcakes anywhere? :rotfl:

Oh, and I got that new DL iPhone app! It's very cool. So far. Not that I'm actually there yet or anything. But I've pre-loaded our ride list onto it, and it updates wait times every time you refresh the page. Very nifty ;)

I'm finally here! I was an idiot and lurked over on the last TR for a little too long. I had 14 pages to catch up on here, but it could be worse. I think I started on one TR at 50-some pages!

My major pregnancy sweet tooth was overfilled with Easter candy, so I'm responding pleasantly to the COTD. Not bothering me a bit. Although the Boston Creme Pie did make my eye twitch. In a good way. :)

I dl'd TripIt last night, and so far I love it! I'm planning a girl's weekend this weekend, so it's coming in handy to keep all our plans in one place. I haven't used it much on the iPhone yet, though. You may have to add an app-of-the week post to your PTR! I love to hear about other people's good finds in the App Store.

Can't wait to read more! I may have to print your To-Eat, To-Do list and save it for my '10 trip. Especially the To-Eat list. ESPECIALLY the Oreo! And the Ghiradelli. Oh crap, the whole durn thing.
