When I did the Tower of Terror race in Oct I met a fellow walking, he was wearing a lime green (WISH Color) safety shirt with the reflective stripes. He said he came on the WISH site to read the posts and it motivated him to keep going toward being in beter shape. He said he never posts but we meant a lot to him. I've been wondering since then just how many other wonderful people were regulars to our craziness but we have never met.

On this special day which is about caring and joy and being with friends and family, I want to invite anyone who has been coming to WISH to say hello.

I have been a part of the WISH for a year now and I can say without a dought that this is the best forum on the net. The people here are real and wonderful.

Please if you haven't said "Hi" before join us now.

Thanks for the post - very welcoming indeed!!

I know I post, but sporadically - there seems to be a tight knit group that have met - and some really awesome athletes, runners, walkers, woggers - and I want to be a part of the team - but when I back slide, I so dont feel worthy!!

I'm hoping I will change *my* attitude (honestly, every time I post I feel welcomed, and its so kind of y'all!! I've even gotten an encouraging PM!!) when we meet in real life at the Pop dinner - but I know I'm very very shy, or I get overwhelmed, and dont know what to say!! I have my visor, and shirt, and I'm working on training!!

(and I know my posts dont reflect that - I talk on and on in my posts!!)

So thanks for being such an open and friendly group of WISH'ers!! I really appreciate it!! :cool1:

:hello:

I don't usually post on the WISH board, though I do post in other forums. I am new to running and WDW Half Marathon will be my first big event. I can say that without a doubt, you guys have helped me a lot, though... :goodvibes

Another sporadic poster here--I read the boards more than I write, especially because of this year's craziness in my personal/professional life. But I can't tell you how thankful I am to have found WISH and all these friendly DISers! It's kept me more on track than I would have been otherwise, and because of you all I'll actually be participating in the Goofy (if not at the level I originally anticipated).

I'm looking forward to meeting many of you at the Goofy events--even if DH and I won't be joining the social scene due to family obligations--and I hope to be more active here in 2008!

So, if you'll be at the back of the pack for either the 1/2 or the full, maybe we'll meet up for some mutual encouragement. I'm a bit shy, but also a bit snarky--what's that make me....sharky? Anyway, I don't know what I'll be wearing at this point, but I'm sure it'll involve some lime green. :thumbsup2

I am also a lurker. I have done several half and full marathons.

Always respect those who have full time jobs, family, kids, and yet able to train for the races!:worship: I am single with no major family responsibilities and, somehow, finding time to do the long run is quite a challenge.:rotfl2:

Lurker coming out of lurkdom. :wave2: I am in awe of most of the people on the WISH board. I am a newbie to the running thing. DD and I got our WISH shirts for the 5K, so look for us. We would love some company at the "back of the pack". :grouphug:

Windwalker - I am really in awe that you would do the Half AND the Full. Can't even get my mind around that .

Lurker here, I am planning to run the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon. I have not yet run more than 1 minute at at time. I got Running for Mortals for Christmas, and just ordered Marathoning for Mortals. I am planning on following the training programs. I enjoy reading the posts here, it helps me think I can actually do this:goodvibes

Last Jan at the Pop Century meeting Erica and I met about 20 of the WISH Team. We felt welcome right from the start. I think this year the meet will be huge. The turnout at Tower of Terror was wonderful. Everyone had a good time and Erica and I made some new best friends.

:welcome: new WISHERS! Let us hear your voices!!

And bear in mind, if you never do a thing, you never get to do it AGAIN!

Lurkers are friends you havent met -

I'm someone who just wants to belong, to figure this "thing" out! Who is really appreciative of all the advice, and btdt posts!! And I am hoping that while I'm out there - all the WISH shirts will help keep my momentum strong and I will cross that finish line!!

Thanks Wish Team!

I'm only an occaional reader in this forum, and don't know anything about WISH meetings or events that are planned... but I have gathered that many of you are staying at POP during Marathon Weekend. I am staying at CSR through Sunday, but then staying at POP for Monday and Tuesday nights. ANy chance there'll still be some WISHers at POP?

Friday afternoon at the Pop food court, 4pm or 4:30pm is when the big WISH gathering is happening. Several of us are doing the Expo and packet pick up on Thursday at 3:00pm when it opens. Evenings often end with a cold pitcher of Beer at the Big River Brewery on the boardwalk.

Leave any fears and apprehensions behind when you gather with us and be prepared for unconditional acceptance and friendship.

Beer - hmmm good carbo loading beer???

I thought the expo opened at 2? Are crowds bettter at rope drop (opening of Expo) and increase as the day wears on?

Hi! New WISHer here. I've been DISing for almost 2 years, but I'm new to this forum.

My DH got into doing duathlons/triathlons this past year, and I'm finally ready to join in (at least for the running). I literally just started running yesterday, and although I didn't go very far or even run most of it, I got out there and I'm committed to sticking to it.

My goal is to run the half next January in WDW, and I'd love to be wearing a lime green WISH shirt when I do! :)

One question I have for someone in the know...what exactly is YARC?

Welcome to our world. Please join us often and tell of your training adventures.

"YARC" is The You Ain't Right Club. As in a screw loose, your elevator doesn't go all the way to the top, you are a few fries short of a happy meal, well you get the idea.

Queen Judy:snooty: is the queen of the court of "YARC". She tries to keep the rowdy members from getting out of line to often.

Considering your Forum name, I'd say you have a few mental challanges yourself. The tune "It's a small world" has been known to cause people to run screaming into the night when it's stuck in their heads.

By the power infested in me by the Queen, I hereby give you membership in the "YARC", your title will be the "Pretty Princess of alternative tunes".

I guess I found the right place, then!!

The funny thing about my screen name is that my first post on the WISH forum was on the marathon music thread, where I responded to someone who posted some classical pieces. So, clearly my tastes in music run the gamut from classical to annoying, lol.

I hereby accept membership into the YARC and will do my best to live up to its name. (Frankly, it should be really easy for me.)

Yep, you can feel right at home here princess. We have people here who should be locked up for their own safety. There are some who are planning to do a half marathon on saturday, a full marathon on sunday and then go partying at the Adventurer's Club. Now if that won't get you a VIP suite at the funny farm I don't know what will.

I'm guessing you'll be having first-hand knowledge of this insanity?
