"Please don't te'll anyone about this hidden escape". "Lacking crowds". "Gracious staff". "Nice views of the greens". "SANITY"
All of which Uncleromulus has been saying for several years now, but all the above is from the new WDW Zagat Guide!! BUt you'll need to go soon. Sadly, the Sand Trap is on the chopping block thanks to that new non Disney Four Seasons conglomeration going up in almost the excat spot. It may stay open for a couple of years at best--or maybe close sooner. Either way a sad ending for a fine restaurant. I'll be sorry to see it go.
As to lunch. We arrived at just about noon on Saturday and went straight to the bar where Mike (OrlandoMike on our boards) was taking care of things. Only a few people in the Trap, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves.
Mrs U ordered her usual glass of wine while I had a Sierra Nevada. She got the blackened chicken sandwich with fresh fruit as a side, while I (instead of that great Cobb salad they have) had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich, along with a side of potato salad. Both were excellent as has been everything we've ever eaten at the Trap. As I've mentioned before, you really can't get anything BUT lunch at the Trap--no danger of ordering a full size meal, then finding yourself too full for dinner.
So we enjoyed a nice peaceful lunch, some good conversation with Mike, and left with an intent to return again when we go back to WDW in December!!
Note: The Trap also serves breakfast, which we enjoyed the morning of our scheduled Backstage Safari Tour. They open at 6:30 AM, a much more convenient time than the usual 7:30 AM for most other breakfast places. Veronica was our server that morning, and we had eggs ,ham and potatoes (me) and French Toast w/ bacon (Mrs U). Plus some good coffee. And we were able to eat w/o a rush and got to the AK in plenty of time for the tour!
