Lunch on MK day. GF Cafe? Contempo Cafe? Somewhere else?

Cap'n Cooks at the Poly is a must for us. We try to stretch it to mid/late afternoon. Head there for some late lunch then a Dole Whip while relaxing on the beach for a bit. Then back to the old MK grind! šŸ˜Ž
I like to visit Cap'n Cook's the most of all the Quickserves on the monorail. Of course if they are going to Ohana later in the day, they may not want to go to the Poly twice.

Ah, I skimmed right past that! Good call. Sorry! šŸ˜Ž

Grand Floridian Cafe is always our must when at MK, easy enjoyable boat ride over (or monorail or walk) and lovely resort. Food is very good too..we've had almost everything on their lunch menu and nothing has disappointed. My fav is the chicken and waffles....so bad but sooooo good
Yum chicken and waffles!!

Would you say two hours is enough time from ā€œdoor to doorā€ though? That’s what concerned me the most with going to GF is wasting too much of our MK day for lunch. I’d like to keep it at 90min to 2 hours tops so we can be back at MK by 2.30 latest in order to get some more rides in before we leave for ā€˜ohana around 7.30.

You could always do the Lounge at Steakhouse 71 too- check out that menu to see if it looks better than GF Cafe. It opens at 12 where lunch in the restaurant starts earlier and is first come first serve, but I would be surprised if you couldn't get in right at open.
The recommendation for Geyser Point sounds like a good one. I have never eaten there, but it sounds like a nice relaxing way to take a break from MK for lunch.

Yes that is plenty of time.

I would consider simply eating QS in the park. Leaving the park twice for meals will eat up a lot of your time. I don't think the food at Contempo or Gasparilla's is any better than what you will find in MK. If you really want to leave, I would walk to CR and eat at the bar at Steakhouse 71.

I'll be at the Magic Kingdom next Friday and was planning on going to Columbia Harbor House for lunch and Geyser Point for dinner/drinks.

I only have 1 day at MK so I don't want to stray too far from the park during the day but I've read that Columbia is a good, quiet spot for lunch.

I am from Mass and kind of spoiled with our wonderful seafood. Been to Columbia Harbor House, its okay but definitely can't compare it to New England seafood so probably won't go back.

I’m from MA too and it’s the main reason I didn’t even consider CHH even though I’ve seen good reviews. Adam Hattan always raves about it on his vlogs and I’m always like ā€œmeh. I doubt it’s as good as the clam chowder in Bostonā€ lol.

UPDATE from OP:
I was checking late last night for lunch rez on Magic Kingdom day and Jungle Nav Skipper Canteen popped up for 11.40am so I grabbed it. It's a little early but it's the only time they had. At least we have SOMETHING booked. Still holding out hope for Steakhouse71 or a later time at Skipper. It seems things are popping up more as the date gets closer. There was even a BOG late breakfast slot that appeared when I was looking.

That makes perfect sense! I'm from Chicago and usually can't bring myself to touch hot dogs anywhere else.

I'm not too picky so knowing that MK doesn't have great options it's usually about the location, vibe, and ability to get something not entirely fried.

100% it is not,

We stay at BLT often and eat at Contempo for lunch. It is sunlit and airy and an easy walk from MK. The

Hot Turkey Sandwich

Roasted Turkey, Smoked Bacon, Arugula, Tomato, White Cheddar and Cranberry AĆÆoli served on a Toasted Multigrain Bread served with French Fries
is very good. You can sub really tasty chips for the fries and get a good fruit cup as a side. My wife and I always get one and split it.

Did you end up going with the Skipper Canteen? How was it?

Love Grand Flo Cafe! But a nice boat ride over to the Lodge for Geyser Point or Ft. Wilderness for P&Js never disappoints either. It’s a nice break away from the parks.
