Lunch in the park or go back to hotel?

If the food isn't particularly important to you, plan meals around your day, not the other way around. So it depends on where you are in Epcot and what you plan to do next. There are so many CS options in Epcot, we usually find something nearby when we get hungry. If you're planning to leave the park and head back to the resort for a break, it makes sense to eat at the resort but I would not walk that far and back just for food. I also wouldn't carry sandwiches around with me just to save a few bucks. CS lunch for 3 doesn't have to cost a whole lot.

In FW, Sunshine Seasons is a better choice than Electric Umbrella and would be quicker. In WS, you can get delicious CS in most of the countries. We never skip Yorkshire Co Fish Shoppe. We also like the food in Morocco and Mexico...and Germany and France...and pretty much everywhere else. :dogdance: If you're in WS, just snack your way around the world and you won't even need lunch. Schoolbread and sushi and croissants, oh my!

If that's the case, why not just skip dinner and snack around the world. Get one or 2 things in each country and share them as you go throughout the day.

Because DS wants to try the escargots at CDF - he loves all kinds of seafood, shellfish and fish so I think he'll like it too. I'm hoping it's as good as the escargots we get on the DCL.

I'm not sure I understand why you think eating delicious, interesting food will spoil your appetites, but bland, typical park food won't. It's not like chicken nuggets are less filling than a sandwich from Le Halles.

I'm referring more to the size of the meal than the type of food we eat. To go to a TS restaurant for lunch and get an appetizer and entre would be too filling for us for lunch. Not having ever been to EPCOT, I really don't know what food is offered in all the restaurants or how big the portions are and the menus on the WDW website aren't always accurate.

Now I'm wondering if we should eat breakfast there too on one of our days? Any good places for eggs Benedict or good old home fries?

You don't have to do a TS at lunch, each country has a QS or even a snack option. Many times we have just snacked around the world, grabbing a snack at each country and sharing, then moving on, things like nachos in Mexico, a spring roll in China, my son loves sushi so he gets that in Japan I get edamame, lots of options. As far as breakfast, Epcot is a little slim on that. The QS at France serves a sort of modified breakfast, I don't know of anywhere in the park to get eggs benedict but I know you can get them at most of resort TS places. As far as home fries, again most of the resort TS restaurants have those. Sunshine Seasons is not open for breakfast as long as Soarin is down, I'm not sure if they plan on opening it again when it comes back up. There is a breakfast offered at Norway, I've never been but I think it's a character breakfast and might be buffet.

No way is it worth it to go back to hotel to eat.

Bring food in .. even if it is a few sandwiches to help tide you over and have an early dinner. (Or to have to buy less food in park).

The transportation at Disney is nice .. but takes a LONG time no matter where you are going.

The bakery at Norway has a few sandwiches - I like the one with ham, apples and cheese. France is also a good place for a quick lunch, although seating can be difficult to snag.

You don't have to order an appetizer and an entree. You should check out the menus at allears.net

Another "vote" for the counter/quick service at France. (Although I like French cuisine, so I'm a bit biased.) We also used many of our snack credits there to make a lovely going-away box for our final travel day.

We also make it a point to eat "something not beige" every day while vacationing. It's so easy to get in the habit of fried, sauced and breaded. For us, we loved the quick service in the Land. Lots of non-beige food choices! Of course, that's simply our family's preference; it may not be yours. :)

My brother-in-law and his family always go back to their room to eat lunch and rest.

Another option is going back to the car to eat. We get to Epcot early, and end up parking very close. My wife and I have talked about taking a cooler with us next year when we go back, leave the cooler in the car, and going back to the car and eating lunch there. That would only work at a park where you can park close, so it would not work for MK.

I would stop for a quick service meal, and if you don't want a full meal, you could always share. There are so many great food options at Epcot, and plenty of them are not huge meals. Plus, with all of the walking you'll be doing, you might be hungrier than expected. There are also a lot of good snacks at Epcot if you don't want an actual meal.

We're at BWV and was wondering whether we should eat lunch at EPCOT or go back to our room for lunch. I'm thinking that with a 10-15 minute walk each way and allowing about 30 minutes to eat, it would only take about an hour to go back to the room but how long could we expect to wait on line for food at EPCOT? We would only be grabbing dogs or nuggets at counter service so I don't know if that would take a long time or not. We will there the 3rd week of August so it will be hot and I've heard seating can be hard to come by at the CS places. Thanks.
I would only do that if I was going to take a rest in the room or by the pool, and plan to be away from Epcot for a couple of hours at least. The round trip walk is going to be longer than just waiting in an Epcot counter service line. Sunshine Seasons or American Adventure both have lots of tables. So no matter what part of Epcot you are in you can enjoy lunch and the wait in line while in comfortable air conditioning.
