Is there many choices within walking distance of Highland and Hollywood? What about Mel's Drive-in? Or are there any family friendly restaurants in the shopping complex at Highland and Hollywood?

One place somewhat nearby(don't know if it's walking distance) is Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles . They're on 1514 North Gower Street in Hollywood. The food is good and the prices are excellent.

Another one to try is Philippe The Original. They're known for their french dip sandwich. It's really tasty but, unfortunately, it's not walking distance.

Hollywood & Highland complex has alot of trendy and well-known eateries....from Burger King...to Johnny Rockets....to OMG, I cannot remember those names but they are medium-higher end. These are in the complex. I think they might have a website. If not, just go to LA.Com or KodakTheatre and they will direct you.

I doubt Roscoe's is in walking distance, especially with kids. Micelli's is a great home-y Italian restaurant that has been there for years just off Hollywood Blvd (1646 N Las Palmas Ave). There is an Old Spaghetti factory on Sunset (5939 W Sunset Blvd) which is very kid friendly. There is an IHOP in walking distance if you want something close, easy, and cheap for breakfast (7006 W Sunset Blvd).

There are of course many fancier and nicer places, but they may not be very family-firendly. I haven't been to any of the restuarants with Hollywood and Highland. Maybe someone else can review those.
