Lumieres/Cariocas - which one would you skip for Palo & why?

Sorry I didn't say it initially, but we are doing a 5 night Bahamian cruise in January.

So the first nights will be the rotational menus (each dining room serves it's Signature menu). Night 4 is Pirate menu, and night 5 is Til We Meet Again menu.

But you won't know your dining rotation (to let you know which room you're in for which rotational menu the first 3 nights) until you get to the port.

I love to see everyone's opinions!
For us, we pass on The Pirate menu and go to Palo on Pirate night, but only when we travel alone. If we are with the grandkids we suck it up and do pirate night for them because they love the entire pirate night event.

Have fun!

If I was cruising, Id only go to Palo for brunch.
Personally, I feel that Lumiere's is the least family friendly (but its not, not family friendly), its the least naturally fun.
Cariocas is brighter colours and they make you napkin hats, which is often fun for kids of all ages (but I get some people don't like that)
However, I personally prefer Lumieres menu, but it depends what you're into.
As a CM, if we were granted a dining request, we then had to go and talk nicely to see if a restaurant then had a space for us, we would always go to Lumieres first, Animators, then Cariocas. But we never didn't enjoy Cariocas, and if the choice is that or mess food, it wins 1000% lol.

However, Cariocas and Lumieres share a galley, so if you go to one and not the other but theres something you really want to try from the other (on the signature menu), its pretty easy for your server to get it for you to try if you ask nicely. (the second time I ate in cariocas, Lumieres had been full, our waiter encouraged us to order off the Lumieres menu if we knew what we wanted off it)

Carioca's. When I heard that they were redoing the decor I thought they were going to gut and re-do rather than just basically changing the lights and repainting the woodwork so I'm not that thrilled by the so-called re-do. Though for me it's the menu; I was expecting something much more interesting. Seemed pretty bland to me.

I would skip Carioca's; I greatly prefer Lumier's menu. That said I would pick Palo over either restaurant any day.

Based on this I'd reserve Palo for either night 4 or 5. We find the Pirate night menu to be meh (night 4 as someone posted above), and on night 5 Palo would be a great way to end your cruise! And if it's an option, Palo brunch is pretty amazing! You can always book something now and then reschedule once you get on board and see your rotation.

Another vote to skip Cariocas. Like the menu and overall atmosphere of Lumiere's better. But then again, Palo is so much better than either one that you could just go with what fits your schedule best.
