Lulu201's Healthy Living Log (comments welcome!)

 Hi, Beth and Tracy! Thanks for stopping by. When I went to pick up the balloon for my student, the guy at the Dollar Store asked me if I'd gotten a balloon for Mother's Day. When I said, no, I guess it wasn't my year, he handed me one of the old ones they had left over. Wasn't that sweet? A random act of kindness can sure brighten a day.

As far as food goes, I held it together until I came home from work at 8:30 and I spied the left over apple walnut pie from M. Day; I ate the last piece. I didn't binge, but I didn't feel right eating it (but did that stop me????). I won't count yesterday as cheat free, but as I posted in Doreen's journal, Confucious said:

"Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall."

So, I'm rising and trying again.:D

Current stats:

1. 9/31
2. 4/31; only had two glasses the entire day!
3. 4/31; at least I walked the dog
4. 4/31

I've had the water and vitamins for today, so I'm off to a better start. Also, I walked the dog. Probably won't get in more than that. My goal for food is to stay between 22-27 points.

Shorter teaching day today because I have my drs. appt. this afternoon. Choir tonight--will probably run late. I'll be back, though, tomorrow. . .

Erin

Hi Erin!
You're right! A little unexpected kindness does go a long way.::yes:: What a nice surprise for you!

Sending prayers and :wizard: for your appt. today. Take care!

Tracy:wave2:

Hi Erin - the pie sounds delicious! I've been thinking about you sweetie even though I haven't been around lately. You are one of my favorite people  and I can't wait to meet you in person in January for the marathon! I'm so excited!

~Amanda

Hi Erin,

It was great to meet you on Saturday:wave2: You look fabulous. Hope you had a fantastic mother's day , I see the pie was delicious;) Have a wonderful Tuesday:sunny:

Hey Erin.

I'm just checking on you, How was the dr.'s appointment?

Have a good one,
Beth

Hi Erin!:wave2:
Finally get a chance to check in with you! Wasn't Saturday fun? It was great to see you, and meet some more WISHers  and see your dh and dd again! Time just flew!

Hope all went well at the dr today!

Love ya, sweetie! You look ab fab!

Maryann

I hope all went well today at the doc's. Am thinking of you. Thanks for the PM.

Love ya, WISH-sis,
Doreen

Ugh. Everything went fine at the doctor's. The care and concern of all you WISH buddies really has made me feel better. Without boring you all with the details, I've got a colonoscopy scheduled for June and have to told to get to the GYN to get her opinion. My bowel/intestinal pain could be endometriosis (and from the drs. questioning, it could be the result of tearing/stitching after a looonnnnggg labor and delivery of one lovely 9 lb. 2 oz. baby girl
13 and 1/2 years ago) or some bowel disease he mentioned--some syndrome. I don't know what it was called. That's the story--further testing until they figure it out. Did I happen to say Ugh?

This shows my strength and stamina: I came home from the dr. and had some medicinal ice cream. A big bowl. I did stop myself from getting a Frosty at Wendy's, but I probably ate more at home than I would've with the Frosty.

Oh, heck, I'm just going to bed and will start AGAIN tomorrow.

Thanks, everyone, for your prayers. It really helped. I was nervous going into the office, but I think I calmed down a lot from your :goodvibes

My grumpy self is ready to :faint: --

Nothin' wrong with medicinal ice cream now and then. I'll join you in starting AGAIN tomorrow. We may not be losing but we're sure in good company :hyper2: :p

At least you're making progress toward what the problem might be and I'm sending a  for all your bravery at going through all this. Medical stuff can be scary, sweetie, but we're all here with you.

Tomorrow's a new day. We fall but we keep gettin' back up and we'll get back up again tomorrow.

Sweet dreams, Erin. :flower2: :flower2: :flower2:

It's a brand new day and a chance to start again. I like that.:D
I'm not going to spend much time here this morning. . . I have to get some veggies cut, walk on the treadie--we all know the routine. I'm just going to take baby steps through the day and pray A LOT! I'm turning it over to the Big Guy 'cause I know I can't do this alone.

Thanks, Doreen, for your post. Your kind words gave me that warm fuzzy feeling first thing in the morning. Just what I needed. . .

One day. That's all.
Erin

A.M. Edit: vitamins ok, 3 glasses of water ok, 6 points, 2 miles. I'm doing it bit by bit and that's enough.

 Erin,

I'm sorry that you didn't get any answers yesterday. That medicinal ice cream sounds like what you needed. I like to think of ice cream as a way to boost your calcium intake. Every woman needs more calcium.:p

Today is a new day, and it will be a sucessful one for you. I'll send some extra prayers for you.
Beth

We'll both be baby-stepping through the day and doing the best we can, Erin. Our best is truly good enough.

Love ya, WISH-sis, and I'm glad we're on this journey together today. :cool1: :cool1:

EDIT: 2 PM
How's it going so far?? I'm on plan, had my meds & vitamins, have been drinking tons of water and walked outside for a short time. I hope your day is going as well as mine. Phillipians 4:13!!

Hi Erin,
I hope today is a good one for you. I'm keeping you in my prayers.

:flower: :flower: GOOD MORNING, ERIN!! :flower: :flower:

I hope yesterday turned out to be a good day for you. Today's Thursday - the weekend is coming! Ride the wave of busyness and take a moment here and there to breathe deeply, get centered and be thankful for all the miracles around you.

Take good care of you - you're worth it, WISH-sis!

 and :sunny:

I'm gearing myself up for another exam/consult today. I was able to snag a ob-gyn appointment for this morning, so I'm going in for a complete exam (ooh, yuk) and a discussion. I'm not overly thrilled about the doc I'm going to see, but I'd have to wait until Sept. to see the doc. of my choice; I just want to get all this checking and discussing over with!!! I'll go into work later this afternoon.

Moving along day by day,
Erin

Good morning Erin!
I'm sorry that you didn't get any definitive answers at your last appointment. We'll just have to keep praying until He does give you an answer.::yes:: Praying that today's appointment goes well for you. Take good care of you today, Erin.

Tracy:wave2:

The latest installment of Lulu's quest for medical answers:

Went to the ob-gyn; I can't say much came out of it. His exam was barely complete w/few professional courtesies. I tried to put my history out there; he asked barely any questions (the GI doc asked more questions about my gyn history than he did!), made some broad generalizations, and wrote me a script for birth control pills even though I have some other issues that make taking bcp questionable.

It wasn't that I thought he'd reveal some great truths to me, but I expected MORE--more knowledge, a thorough discussion maybe. . .ugh, I don't know. My PCP gave me another gyn name, maybe I'll try her?

Thank you, Tracy, for stopping by and lending me your support. I appreciate it.

So that's the story. I'm going to go back to my regular life now.:p

E.

Grrrrr!!

Please mention to your PCP your opinions of this gyn! Now that PCPs have to refer us, (at least in my HMO), they really need the feedback from their patients as to what these specialists are like and how they treat their patients. I know it's a hassle to keep going through all the exam stuff, but I think you should get a second opinion.

 for all you've been through today and these past few weeks. I'm hoping things will brighten up soon.

 Erin,

Sorry it wasn't a good or helpful experience. Call the other ob/gyn. You need answers.

BETH

Like Doe says....Grrrrrr......

Now you know why this ying-yang was able to see you on such short notice! He stinks!

I know it's a pain, really I do, but....call the other gyno, sweetie. You are worth it.

And THEN you can get back to your regular life - wait, is that what you want? Don't you want to get back to your own tropical island, where everything is one point per serving?

I do - take me with you!

Love ya! :sunny:
