Lulu201's Healthy Living Journal--Just trying my best to walk the walk! Come on by!

YESTERDAY WAS A :) :) :) :) :) :) DAY! :Pinkbounc

Here's the plan for today:
1. Devotions :)
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
It's not good enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what's required. -Winston Churchill
To Act:
Put aside your fear of failure and replace it with effort towards your goals.
To Pray:
Lord, thank You for the unique ways in which You guide me.
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--8 oz. done
4. Exercise--Mickey and I walked the walk--1.25 miles
5. Food--breakfast was 5.5 points
6. Scale :)

I'm determined to stay on program again today. Fruits, veggies, and healthy snacks are part of the plan. Work-wise, I've got to finish the choreography, the set design, and cut out lots of little Mickey Mouse heads for the kids' hats. I'm excited and ready to get this camp going! First, though, I've got to get to church and to the store so that we have some healthy foods in the house for the week.

:grouphug: to all,
Erin

Onward, downward, UPWARD!

Edit:

I almost forgot!

1. I've read my devotions 9 out of 9 days.
2. I've taken my vitamins 8 out of 9 days.
3. I've had 6-8 glasses of water 7 out of 9 days.
4. I've exercised 9 out of 9 days.
5. I've eaten in a healthy way 5 out of 9 days.
6. I've faced the scale on 9 out of 9 days.

Edit #2: 32 oz. of water done, lunch 5.5 pts.=11 so far for the day.

Edit #3: Working on the last of my water. HAve stayed within my points all day. My family is so supportive. Thank goodness for those guys!
I'm going to go have some berries w/lite whipped topping and then I'll call this a 6 :) day! :Pinkbounc

Tomorrow I'm going to have to get up early--around 5:30--in order to get my healthy day on track. I'm going to walk the dog around the circle then head over to the park for a 2.5er. I'll come home and pack lunches for DD and me and then check in here at the WISH. We'll be at the studio by 8:30 so we're there in plenty of time before the campers. In the afternoon, I'm going to try to teach (from 3 to 8???), but I'll call and cancel kids if I feel too tired. I'll see how it goes.

Food plan for tomorrow:

breakfast will be coffee w/cream (from Dunkin Donuts at 2.5) and my english muffin w/pb (3), snack will be an apple (2), lunch will be yogurt and almonds (5). Afternoon snack will be veggies, grapes, and cheese (3), and dinner will be a McDonald's salad (9). Dessert will be berries w/whipped topping when I come home (1) or jello w/topping (0).

OK, got this taken care of.

Your comment below, Doreen, got me thinking. . .it isn't easy, but it's not too hard either. My family's supportive, I feel God's presence, and I keep remembering how I feel when I see the scale spiraling upward out of control. I know what I have to do, and I must do it if I'm going to climb out of this "heavy" rut I'm in right now. And, as you know, I'm determined to care for myself during this, the busiest and probably most stressful week of the summer. Flood + camp + DMIL's heart surgery= if I'm not good to ME.

You ROCK!! You are making this healthy living look easy in spite of music camp starting tomorrow and all the curve balls life has thrown at you lately. You aren't just walking - you are DANCING down that healthy living road!!

I'll continue to keep music camp in my prayers this week. By the end of the week you'll be tired but you'll be so happy seeing the wonderful things the kids have accomplished! What a great feeling! :cloud9:

Take care, dear WISH-sis!

 &

4. Exercise--only time for the 1.25 trail, but at least I did it! :)
5. Food--breakfast was 5.5 points; have my lunch and snacks packed

I'll try to stop by when I can, but it's going to be a long, full, :flower: day.

Erin

Edit: Got through a fun morning of camp! Ate on plan--yogurt and almonds, cucumbers and tomatoes for lunch. More veggies, grapes, and cheese for p.m. snack in a few minutes. About 40 oz. of water done. Several students coming up. . .

Your stats look awesome! 10/10 days of exercise! I am one impressed princess: !

Keep up the awesome work girl and that scale will continue to go down in the downward direction!

Sending :goodvibes your way for your busy day today!

July 12, 2005

:cool1: Yesterday was another :) :) :) :) :) :) day! :cool1:

Here's what's happening today:

1. Devotions :)
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
See a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wildflower. - William Blake
To Act:
With faith in your heart, face any challenge that you encounter.
To Pray:
Lord, You are the answer to all of my questions.
2. Vitamins--soon
3. Water--soon
4. Exercise--1.25 miles
5. Food--breakfast was 4. A.M. snack will be an apple 1. Lunch will be yogurt and almonds and red pepper strips at 5. P.M. snack will be grapes, tea or decaf, and biscotti at 3. Dinner will be a chicken burrito from t. bell or a McDonald's salad between 8.5 and 9. That leaves 2 extra points to play with. :flower:
6. Scale--178 this a.m. It's amazing how the scale moves downward when you actually follow the program :p .

Stats as of yesterday:

1. I've read my devotions 11 out of 11 days.
2. I've taken my vitamins 10 out of 11 days.
3. I've had 6-8 glasses of water 9 out of 11 days.
4. I've exercised 11 out of 11 days.
5. I've eaten in a healthy way 7 out of 11 days.
6. I've faced the scale on 11 out of 11 days.

I feel good that in the midst of the craziness we've got going on right now, God is giving me the strength to stay on program. Lessons (pianos, etc.) will be moved back into the studio today or tomorrow. . .we're ready for day #2 of camp. . .my mother-in-law has surgery tomorrow. . .lots happening. Staying on track with the program gives me the illusion of some control! :p

Off and into the day. I'll stop and visit later!

Erin

Edit: Whew! I'm finally getting a minute to sit down. The day's going by in a whirlwind. I had my planned lunch. Forgot my apple so had pretzels at 2. Decided against the grapes, so will come out the same anyway. Currently at 13 w/the biscotti.

The girls in the camp are amazing and wonderful, especially my DD! She's risen to the challenge and has been an EXCELLENT helper and a real Godsend to me. I've been telling her many times how valuable she is! The girls actually participating in the camp are sweet and adorable--even the catty one has a soft side! :p

:teacher: Enjoy your day at camp! :teacher:

You sound centered and on track! I'm so happy for you! :Pinkbounc

Good morning Erin!

Your stats for the month are lookin' mighty good my friend! :cool2: Keep up the good work and have a great day at camp! :flower:

Great job you are still doing Erin! So glad you are having fun at camp- keep it up!

July 13, 2005

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc for :) :) :) :) :) :) yesterday!

Today's a brand new day and new chance for healthy living!

1. Devotions :)
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
Those who wish to sing always find a song. -Swedish proverb
To Act:
Remember that remarkable achievements begin as thoughts.
To Pray:
Lord, thank You for guiding me to happiness and friendship.
2. Vitamins--on the counter
3. Water--I'll start after breakfast
4. Exercise-- :) It's time for a rest day; my 43 year old body is asking for it, so I'm saying yes. I think all the dancing at camp is beginning to get to me! :p
5. Food--breakfast will be the usual. I'm enjoying my yogurt and almonds for lunch, so I'll have that again. Veggies and fruit for snacks along the way. . .probably a McDonald's salad or a turkey wrap for dinner. Have to stay within my points!
6. Scale-- :)

Stats for the month:

1. I've read my devotions 12 out of 12 days.
2. I've taken my vitamins 11 out of 12 days.
3. I've had 6-8 glasses of water 10 out of 12 days.
4. I've exercised 12 out of 12 days.
5. I've eaten in a healthy way 8 out of 12 days.
6. I've faced the scale on 12 out of 12 days.

I'm dragging a bit today. Thank goodness for coffee! DMIL has her heart surgery in just a few minutes if all is going according to schedule. Thanks, WISH friends, for keeping her in your prayers. The studio hasn't been brought back to normal yet--pianos and camp are still in the other building. I know it's making DH crazy not to have business as usual, but we have to go with the flow. DDs upset because her friend who is supposed to go to camp for a week with her (a music camp about 4 hours away) is sick and may not be able to go. . .lots of drama, which can only be expected--it's tough on the girls. They had so looked forward to going. BUT, as I keep telling DD, it could easily still happen--they don't leave 'til Sunday! Heck, that's four whole days away! Lots can happen in 4 days!!!

OK, got to get going. I'll stop around later--
Erin

Erin, I am so impressed with your stats this month!! You and your scale should be good buddies with all the hard work you're putting into your healthy habits! Bravo!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Earlier in your journal I think I mentioned that the dancing and movement-intensive music camp should count as your exercise this week. ;) Sounds like your body is telling you the same thing. :teeth: You're probably using different muscles and they're letting you know they are awake.

With DD in Boston this week, the drama level at our house is WAY down. I'll keep your DD's friend in prayer for a quick recovery, as well as your MIL and her surgery today.

May God's peace be upon you today.

Good morning Erin!

You are on a roll, girl! Another 6 :) day is wonderful!!!! Keep up the good work, Erin! :cheer2:

I hope things work out for your DD to go to camp with her friend. I remember those days of drama myself. ;)

Your MIL will be in our thoughts and prayers today. Please let us know how she is doing.

Take care and have a great day! :flower:

Dear WISH-sis, I'm sending some extra :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: your way to chase away the :umbrella: . I hope all is well with your MIL, with DH & DD & Mickey, with music camp, with the studio, with DD's sick friend.

I'm keeping you close in my prayers.

 &

:wave2: Hi! It's Saturday, July 16, 2005, and it's been 3 days since I made it here to my journal.

First of all, let me tell you that my MIL is doing OK. Not great, but OK. She's disoriented and having a lot of trouble with decision making, but from what I understand, that can happen. We went to see her last night after the musical
and again this morning (DH and I left at 6:30 so we could spend the morning with her).

DD and friend are headed to camp tomorrow; the friend will come over late tonight and then we'll drive up in the morning. Today was spent shopping and
washing and getting all the stuff ready. Still lots to do tonight.

The show was a huge success. Lots of :) children and parents. That's all we want.

In the midst of all this, though, I lost my healthy lifestyle--totally, totally lost it. No vitamins, not enough water, no devotions, no exercise (though I did do a lot of running around), and terrible eating. No excuses, just what occurred. I'm not even going to try to get back on track until I get back home from taking the girls to camp on Monday.

It's thundering and lightening here, so I'm going to get off. I hope the studio's dry. . . :sad2: oh, well, it's in God's hands.

I'll try to sign on again later and catch up with everyone.
Erin

No worries about healthy living, dear Erin. You've had so much on your plate this week that I'm just thankful that you and your family (including MIL) are all well and that the musical was a hit. The really important stuff was accomplished.

Glad to hear that DD's friend is up to going to camp. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

In all this whirlwind of activity, please don't worry about journals and healthy living. However, (Mom-mode Alert :p) I DO expect you to plan plenty of rest time into your schedule early next week. You and I know that lots of busyness takes its toll and we need extra time to recover.

Love ya,

Good morning Erin,

I agree with Doreen.... "Hakuna Matata" about the healthy living. :goodvibes You had so much going on at one time and you got through it all with flying colors! :teeth: I know once things settle down, you will get right back on track and we'll be seeing lots and lots of 6 :) days. ::yes::

Please be sure and get plenty of rest. :cloud9:

Have a wonderful, relaxing day, my friend.

:grouphug: I love you guys. I just got in a few minutes ago. Yesterday a.m. I left to take DD and her friend to camp about 4.5 hours from here. Got to my mom's late in the afternoon. . .was asleep at her apt. from 6:30 (!) yesterday until 5:30 a.m. today. Guess I got some rest. It's noon and I'm scheduled to teach at one, so I've got to shower and get down there. Thanks, you guys, for caring about me.

Love you all,
Erin

Well now, let me see if I can pick up the pieces of the last few days and get myself back on the healthy living road. . .

Yesterday I finished work and DH and I left for the hospital to see DMIL (over an hour away). Seems she was discharged and poor stressed DFIL forgot to call us. :guilty: We came back home, but at least we had a nice dinner out! :teeth:

Today I'm sitting at home in my pjs until it's time to go to work. I may do some housework (or I may not :p ), but whatever I do it'll be in my pajamas until I leave for work around 1:30. This is the first day in almost two weeks that I've had some time for just myself and I'm drinking it in, let me tell you.

I'm looking forward to getting back into my healthy routine. I'm so far behind in my stats, I'm just going to toss them out and just keep track of 6 :) days for the rest of the month.

Here's how I'm doing today:

1. Devotions :)
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
The heart is happiest when it beats for others.
—Anonymous
To Act:
Resolve not to magnify small problems.
To Pray:
Lord, let me never miss an opportunity to give.
2. Vitamins--not yet
3. Water--not yet
4. Exercise--too darn humid. Seriously, it's like walking in soup out there! I'm going to declare today an official rest day; I fully intend to walk tomorrow.
:)
5. Food--had my usual english muffin w/pb and coffee for breakfast. It's a far cry from the Dunkin Donuts coffee and muffin I've become accustomed to the last few days.
6. Scale--I just couldn't go there yet. I'm so big and bloated I can barely stand it; I need a few days to be on program. Tomorrow I'll try to face it.

So that's how it's looking for today. Now I think I need to go rest some more. :cloud9:

I'll be back later.

Erin
