Lulu201's Healthy Living Journal--Just trying my best to walk the walk! Come on by!

:sunny: Good morning! It's the last day in May, can you believe it? :sunny:

While I did some walking over the weekend, I didn't eat right, so I'm considering the whole thing a wash and starting fresh today.

The plan:

1. Devotions :) Our Lord gives us capacity for limitless caring.
2. Vitamins
3. Water--have about 8 oz. so far
4. Exercise-2.3 miles at the park planned after Mickey's .5 mile walk.
5. Food--back to points. 1/2 eng. muffin (1), 1 tbsp. pb (2), coffee (1).
6. Scale--back to 182. :) At least I faced the nasty machine.

The weekend was relaxing and exhausting at the same time. It was great to be in my hometown with my mom, but during our visit, DD quietly told me that she didn't really want to go to her new school; she really wants to stay where she is. We spent HOURS talking about all the reasons, all the pros and cons of the situation, and her dad and I (and grandma, too) are now supporting her plan to stay where she is and bloom and grow there. I can't tell you how many gray hairs I've gotten over the months re: this issue, but maybe this long process is what we all had to go through to be at peace! :)
Now we're moving on. . .

And I AM moving on. I've got to spend some time focusing on my physical health again. I've gained so much weight over the last year. . .it's really indicative of the stress I've been under, especially at work. This summer is about wellness, and I'm going to go for it! Back on the plan TODAY! :cheer2:

Got to get my girl to school!
Erin

Edit: 2. :)
Edit: 4. :) , 5. Yogurt (2). Total so far today: 6
Edit: 5. 6 plus tuna (3), lite mayo and olives (2), soft tortilla (5)=16 so far today. More water, too.

 for you, dear WISH-sis, as I know you've spent much time and energy on helping your DD to find the school that will be right for her next year. It sounds like you, as a family, have carefully looked at all your options and guided her through the process of discovering where she truly wants to be. I continue to keep her in my prayers and know that God will ensure that she is right where she is meant to be.

So it's back to business for both of us as we focus on becoming healthy once again. :cool1: :cool1: The stresses that you have been feeling have been weighing you down and sapping your time and energy. Now that your schedule is a bit less structured, I'm hoping you will be able to free up the time to become the healthy, fit, peaceful, God-centered woman you want to be.

I wish you peace and joy and hope and love today, Erin. :goodvibes

Hey Erin! I'm pretty new to the WISH bords and just skimmed over your journals, but we are abut the same weight right now. I will have to keep reading yours every day to help me stay on track! Good luck and we can do it!

Hi Erin,

You and I are in a similar place right now. We've both been running ourselves ragged over the school year, and we aren't in a healthy place because of it. Let's take ths summer to relax and recharge ourselves. We can get to a healthy place together.

Have a great day,
Beth

Hi, everyone! :grouphug: Thanks for stopping by yesterday! Beth, I hear what you're saying, girlfriend. We've got to make our health a priority this summer!

Yesterday was a :) :) :) :) :) :) . My dinner ended up being at Friendly's  with DD, but I didn't go crazy and I didn't binge eat in the evening, so it's all good!

Today I start keeping track of my stats 'cause it's June 1st:

1. Devotions :) "Remember love is the only thing okay to do in excess." (Daily Guideposts online) 1/30
2. Vitamins: gotta take 'em
3. Water: I drank so much yesterday, and it was so refreshing!
4. Exercise: I'll take Mickey for his walk and do a 2 miler on my own.
5. Food: 1/2 english muffin, pb, coffee=4
6. Scale: 181 :) 1/30

It's another full day today. . .housework this morning, work at noon, evening at DDs concert and "International Buffet" at school. I'm looking forward to it!

I'll try to stop back around during the day.

Erin

Edit: 2. :) 1/30, 3. 2 of 6, 4. Mickey done
Edit: 5. yogurt 2/total 6 so far today
Edit: 4. walked for 30 min. :) , 3. 3 of 6
OK, so I know I need to proceed cautiously through this day if I'm going to eat right. My plan is tuna for lunch, ch. cheese slice for snack along with an apple, and then for dinner, the International Buffet. I just don't know how I'm going to navigate through this. . .I'll be hungry 'cause it's dinner time, but I don't want to overeat. One thing I'm going to do is to "block" this meal. I don't think I'll overindulge AT the event itself, but sometimes special events trigger a grazing session through the kitchen afterward, so I'm going to limit eating before and afterwards (the block). I know: when I get home I'll have a glass of skim milk and a piece of fruit or maybe some s.f pudding. That'll help. I know I can have a little something at home as long as I don't overload at school.

After my shower this morning, I tried on some of last summer's "skinny" clothes. Talk about motivational! I have this cute capri pants outfit I probably wore only once or twice. . .it's my goal for the month to be back into it by June 30th. Gotta take it one day at a time, though.

Off to work. . .

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc YAHOO!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Look at all those smilies from yesterday!! Way to go Erin!!! :cheer2:

Your day sounds busy but fun! Sure wish I could tag along to the concert and International Buffet! :p

Your goals for the month look good but how about setting up a reward for yourself? You work hard earning those smilies and I know the weight going down should be its own reward, but a little extra incentive might help. ;)

Let the love you have inside flow out to all the world today! :sunny:

Yippie for all those smilies :) Have a fantastic day - sounds busy but enjoyable especially that buffet :goodvibes Thinking of you being strong on this 1st day of the month.

Maryellen

Hi Erin,

I'm Jen...you sound like one busy person (aren't we all)...just wanted to pop in and say hello, introduce myself, and say KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! :)

hugs,
Jen

Erin, you are so happy, it seems! Keep it up! You do need to recharge this summer, so take it easy and be heathly. Have a great fun day!

Hi Erin!!! I'm Jen, but since the other Jen (joelyfaithsmommy) was here first, I can be Tiger! I just finished reading your journal and all I can say is wow! You are a success MACHINE! Sure, you don't quite get everything in, but you sure as heck try and then are ready for whatever the day holds next. You're great inspiration!!!!!!!!

Keep up the awesome work, okay? I know you can do this! What's the International Buffet for?

Wow! Thanks, girls, for the kind words. I'm just trying to walk the healthy living walk.

I finished yesterday with :) :) :) :) :) :) ! I was drinking water 'til bedtime, but I completed my mission! :p The International Buffet was nice--it was prepared by all the kids in the 9th grade cooking classes--and I was able to come home and refrain from eating anything else.

Here's the healthy living plan for today:

1. Devotions :) "You, Lord, will always treat me with kindness. Your love never fails. You have made us what we all are. Don't give up on us now!" Ps. 138:8 (CEV) 2/30
2. Vitamins :) 2/30
3. Water--one glass down, 5 to go! So far 1/30
4. Exercise--I'll take Mickey for his walk and then go on my 2 miler. So far 1/30
5. Food-4 points for breakfast. Snack: 1/2 grapefruit(1), Lunch: McDonald's salad (10) , snack: soft pretzel and a slice of cheese (5), soup and crackers for dinner (6). Total points for day: 26. So far 1/30
6. Scale :) 180 this morning. I'm likin' that! :p 2/30

I've got lots of work to catch up on, so I'm going in to work a couple of hours before my students today--I have to begin prep of our summer musical.

I wish everyone well on their healthy living walk today! :grouphug:

Erin

Edit: 2. 2/6, 5. grapefruit and salad=15 so far, 4. Walked/ran 25 minutes.
Edit: 5. 1/2 a pretzel, 2. 3/6, working on #4

Erin, what a wonderful devotional scripture! The words really spoke to me this morning. Thanks for sharing it.

:cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: 6 HEAVENLY SMILIES!!! :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Very nicely done!! Keep up the good work, sweetie, and watch that scale number plummet! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

You'll be feeling sleek & slim in no time at all if you can stick with those smilies. ::yes::

Have a wonderful, relaxing, productive day! :sunny:

Look at all your smiles! That is awesome girl! I know what you mean about the clothes - I did the same thing last night and man did that motivate me to do better today. Enjoy your walk!

~Amanda

Well, it's a rainy, gray day here today. I was up early and think the best plan for the morning is to get back into bed with a good book and just let myself doze back to sleep :cloud9: , BUT that's not what's going to happen. No, I'm going to kick my butt into high gear and get the kitchen, downstairs, and our bedroom straightened up by 9:30. If I just putter through it at a slow, rainy-day pace, it'll be done before I know it, I'll feel a sense of accomplishment, and then I'll go out to breakfast! :Pinkbounc

Yesterday was a :) :) :) :) :) day--I made it with everything except food. Actually food really wasn't too bad, but after my soup last night I decided to have a bowl of cereal, too. Not a good decision, honestly. I know it's not a huge leap off the healthy living trail, but I really have to curb stuff like that if I'm going to lose weight. I guess I could walk 5 miles every day and that would help, but I'm not in that place right now. "Moderation is good" is my motto! A healthy walk each day, a long walk every once in a while--that I can manage. Training for another half isn't where I'm at at the moment. If I had a fun walk planned like Doreen and Amanda, then I'd do it, but I've decided the Phila. Distance Run isn't going to happen this year, and there's no other reason except "I don't wanna, it doesn't sound like fun." :p I don't feel like I have anything to prove now that I have my OC medal. :goodvibes

OK, so what am I going to do today?

1. Devotions :)
2. Vitamins--haven't had these yet
3. Water--haven't started this yet
4. Exercise--it's rainy and I don't feel like it. It's going to be my rest day. :)
5. Food--1/2 english muffin at 5:45 (up at 5:15 w/DD. She had to go in early for a special theme park trip). DH and I will go out for breakfast later in the a.m.; that'll be my "brunch." Historically :p Fridays are not the best OP days for me, but I'm going to try to tune into my hunger signals today and not eat for emotional reasons. I'm going to try to remember I have a princess: -sized stomach. :p
6. Scale-- :)

The high school next to DDs middle school was closed today. Bomb scare. They investigated and found bomb-making materials at a kid's home, so the police searched the school all night and have closed for the day. As we drove by this a.m., DD and I saw all the news reporters (3 different stations)
broadcasting outside. This is the school that we chose over the nice, Catholic academy??????!!!!!!!???????

All in all, I'm looking forward to today. I'll just put up my umbrella :umbrella: and venture forth! :grouphug: to all,
Erin

Edit: DH and I had a nice breakfast out: 2 egg broccoli and cheese omelette, rye toast w/butter, homefries, and decaf. :cloud9: Lots of coffee this a.m., not enough water. I took my vitamins, though. :)

Good morning Erin :flower:

O h what a gloomy day - this rain is a bummer! I think a book in bed sounds great but so does brunch with dh. - Stay OP :goodvibes Happy to see all those smilies from yesterday too bad that cereal got you I hope it was a healthy brand and not cocoa puffs :teeth:

I saw the news with CBE, scary.

Have a fabulous FRIDAY!

Maryellen

Hi, Erin! I hope your day brightens, even in this icky, gloomy weather. Your plan sounds ambitious and satisfying! Be sure to check back with us later and let us know how you are doing. BTW, did you hear there's a Friday party over on Doreen's journal? Come party with all of those of us trying to work up the energy on this rainy, dreary Friday. The good news is it is the end of the week! YIPPEE!!!

I hate gloomy days - I'll try to send you some :sunny: to brighten your morning. Today might be a great day to indulge in a little coffee ;)

I know what you mean about moderation. I was doing fine yesterday until dinner. I just can't seem to hold it together for a whole day - even though 2 weeks ago I was having no problems. Maybe we should reward ourselves with Cash like Doe! :)

Ya know, you could join us for the half-marathon in September if you wanted to. That way you and I could finally meet! :cheer2:

~Amanda

Hi Erin,

Sending you some :sunny: and :wizard: to help you get through this gloomy day.

Have a wonderful Friday! :flower:
