I needed a new suitcase. The kids are getting older and their clothes are getting bigger, so we're retiring the Cinderella and Buzz Lightyear rolling cases for our next trip.

Went on ebay and got a 5 piece set for a total of $49. I went onto JC Penney's website and found the same exact luggage set for $250.

So, if you are in the market for a new bag or two, definitely check out what ebay has to offer.

Don'tcha just love it when you find a bargain???

PS - looks like we'll be there at the same time!!

Where are you staying? We are counting down the minutes until we are in the world!

We need new luggage too! There are just the two of us so we are getting one huge piece, probably too big really but when I travel to the US by myself I stay 5 weeks and I need a lot of stuff. We are thinking of a hard case and saw a Samsonite on sale but I'm wondering how it works since we can't lock it due to customs. I'd hate to buy a new case and then have it come back with the locks broken.

If anyone can advise me that would be great, thanks

Not that this will help anyone, but I want to tell you my bargain.

I decided to get a new rolling carry-on. Went to Kohl's and found a great one on sale (50% off) so it would have been $70. Of course none of them had tags! Went to cashier and told the girl it was on sale for $70 - she called to get a tag. Tag came and it scanned at $14.95!!! Like I said, I had told her the price. If she didn't care it was wrong...why should I!?

Kristina,
Check your airlines site.

The HUGE piece may be an expensive misstake. If it weighs more then they allow (75 pounds on Delta for example) they can charge you! (and do!) The big problem with the Samsonite is the fact that it very heavy empty! (Lots of them are on sale in the US and I think it is because of the weight crackdown!)

Just don't lock them.. I don't and so far so good. (And I travel practically every week including two trips to Europe this year)

Thanks CarolA! I had not thought of that! I really want a hard one though because the last couple of times the soft sided ones came back damaged a bit. Perhaps a good reason not to pay all to much for them! Quality sure, but cheap would be ideal! Shelby0007 that is amazing!!

I have bought several good quality, brand name suitcases from Ross. They even sell Delsey suitcases now!

And my mom gets a senior discount on Tuesdays so she bought my last one for me.

I think I bought the last one, a 26" suitcase, for $34.99 with her discount. It was by Skyway. Excellent quality. Can't beat the price.

Ditto what a previous poster said about the weight limit. I trashed my old humoungous suitcase a couple of years ago and now bring two instead.

Good luck!

I believe the latest weight restrictions only allow 55lbs. before a surcharge is added. We almost found out the hard way as our family of four used two hardside suitcases for our last flight and were over the allowable weight before we even left. Luckily we used curb-side check in and I think he let it slide since we were only checking two bags for four people.

Delta' weight restriction used to be higher for international which is what Kristina would be flying. I would check anytime. I think on Delta domestic it's 50 lbs.

If you are on an international flight there is none of the "tipping the skycap" to get by. Plus if for some reason you can't use the skycap (hurricane cancelled your flight....) then you have to go inside and deal with the agents who do tend to charge lately.

What's Ross? A store or online site?

I have been looking for a new suitcase, but need to make sure it is the heavier fabric (some are 1200 denier and some are only 600). We will be traveling to Russia and I need to make sure it will survive the trip.
