luggage

We are flying from Halifax to Orlando in July on American Airlines. This is our first time going to Disney World and our very first time flying. We have stops in New York and Miami. Do we have to retrieve our luggage and re-check it at every airport? Or once we check it in Halifax, will we not see it again until we hit Orlando? Thanks for your help.

I think it all depends on whether you have to change terminals. I've had to change terminals in the past, and have had to retrieve my own luggage. That was with Air Canada. Probably best to check with the airline.

We flew Toronto to Orlando in January on United, with a stop in North Carolina.
The luggage was tagged to Orlando, and we dodn't see it again until we got to our hotel.
That was with a change in terminals.
Same on the way home, luggage was tagged in Orlando, didn't see it again until we arrived at Pearson.
