Luggage to cruise with private transportation to cruise

I know its on the boards but did a few searches and could not find it. My question is if we are flying into MCO and getting a private car to the port do we need to pick up our luggage at the airport or will Disney transport them to the ship? Thanks

If you are taking private transportation, DCL will not transport your bags to the ship. You must claim them at the airport.

Correct....luggage transfer service is a perk for those those who book DCL transfers to the port.

It is a nice perk, but it cost too much. traveling with a group of 8. (2 families of 4) it would cost us $600 but if he hire a private van the cost is half of that.

I might be a little outdated here but in 2011 we had some new friends from the plane ride that paid a fee just for the baggage transfer and they took a private transfer. You will need to fly in the same day of the cruise.

This is the correct response, if you contact DCL and pay " one fee" for transfer costs thry will transport your luggage to the port direct, when you consider the fee, ageist a tip st the port for ports, it's quite reasonable. Yes, we have done it!

A private van for a party of 8...I hope they are one of the companies that has the trailer for luggage pulled behind it! That has the potential of being a LOT of luggage.

If you don't do the luggage transfer option above...

Have either the van driver (if it's part of the service) help you with bags to the van, or hire a porter at the carousel. They will get the bags into the van (or hopefully the trailer) and then you'll drop the bags outside the terminal with the cruise porters. And then the next time you see the checked bags will be in your stateroom. There's really no need for your party to touch the bags; start the vacation off in luxury. (of course TIP the porters)
