Luggage Tag Question (after upgrade)

We were originally booked in an oceanview room on our upcoming Med cruise on the Magic.

I recently upgraded our stateroom to a verandah.

I just got our final cruise documents and they reflect the original stateroom and not the new one. I'm not too concerned about checking in, because I updated the online check in and I have the email confirmation with the new details, but I am worried about using the luggage tags that came as they show the old room number. Will the porters just look at that number and send them to the wrong number or do they scan the barcode and keep the bags with the reservation info?

We are flying into Barcelona from Cork Ireland and using a disney transfer. I'm not sure if I should put the tags on when we check them in at Cork airport or leave them off and pick them up from baggage claim in Barcelona and try to explain to the transfer people about the change.

Any suggestions?

They scan the barcode. Your reservation info will direct the luggage to the proper room. But, if you like, you can just cross out the old room number and write in the new.

If you are going directly from you flight to the ship, yes, put the tags on before you check them in. The transfer people don't really need to know about your room change. It's the DCL CMs on the ship who direct your bags once they get there.

Put the tags on your luggage just as if nothing had changed. But, if you don't have the new tags with the new stateroom, mark the stateroom part with your new and correct stateroom number. Although the Disney system is designed to properly send your luggage to the right cabin (changes happen all the time, including last minute port upgrades), you will feel better, and help the crew do their job, if you provide separate, visible indication of the correct cabin.

And, as an absolute last resort/ eventuality, if your luggage doesn't show up, just go check the old room. There have been reports of people finding their luggage at the old room.

Thank you, thats what the Travel Agent told me but I wanted to check here to be sure.

On the plus side, the upgrade to the veranda is a surprise for the wife and she'll have no clue now that the final documents still have the un-upgraded stateroom number.
Sometime your just need to keep the documents to yourself and not show your wife. The one (and possibly only) time we went concierge was when we traveled for my wife's 60th birthday. She didn't know that I had booked the Walt suite until we went to our cabin and one of our adult daughters had to tell he to read the sign on the door.

I've upgraded at the port several times (after checking my bags) and have never had a problem getting my luggage.

On our last cruise to Norway, we upgraded at the port, had to be moved again because the upgraded room did not have a usable bathroom (it was a construction zone that somehow wasn't taken out of inventory) and yet, our bags made it to room #3.

We changed our room number a couple weeks before sailing, and didn't even think about the tags. All of our suitcases showed up at our stateroom door except mine. I was freaking out, and thinking how horrible I will look in gift shop clothes all week LOL. Luckily it was down the hall at our original stateroom number!

Those are both good tips. We changed our stateroom and did not change the room number printed on the luggage tags since we were told that that is not necessary. However, I think the bar code just sends the bags to a certain area and not the specific room and both the old and the new room were in the same area. We ended up finding our bags in front of our old room. In the future I would write the new number on the tags and also let my stateroom attendant know which room we had booked previously as that helps them locate the bag as well.

We upgraded also. I went from 2 small portholes on deck 1 to one larger on deck 2. My luggage was sent to the old room on deck 1 and only after my desperate calls for help to find my parents medication were they brought up to deck 2. They had been sitting there for most of the day. I made the change even before the tags came but they still showed the old reservations.
