Luggage rules on a Minnie Van? Could we say bring at least our carryons with us if we are doing a split stay and moving from one resort to another? Can a Minnie van even go from one resort to another since buses can’t?

Thanks for any insight.

Yes, MV can go from one Disney resort to another. And yes -- depending on the size of your party -- they should be able to take some luggage.

The question I would have is WHY? If I were going to use MV, I'd want it to be an enjoyable ride -- a magical event...not just a ride from one hotel lobby to another.

Lol just wondering. Last time we had a split stay it seemed like it took forever to get to from pop to beach club. We also had to wait for our luggage to get to us. It would be nice to just get up and go with our stuff and be settled. This time around we will be going from AKL to BRV.

How many are in your group? You should be able to fit some luggage.

We used uber to do resort transfers, because we were going from value to deluxe, and you have to be staying at a deluxe to use the Minnie Van service (unless that has changed in the last month, which it could have, I haven't been paying attention!) We like to transfer our own luggage for a split stay, too, rather than letting Disney do it, because I want to be able to get into my bags anytime I want and not wait around for Disney to deliver it.

When we used the Minnie Van in January, we went from the Polynesian to our room at Kidani after dinner at the Grand Floridian. I liked that the driver took us to the Pumbaa parking lot elevator at Kidani so we didn't have to walk as far - our room was at the very end of the resort.

Be aware that sometimes it can take quite awhile for a Minnie Van to become available. Uber and Lyft can usually get drivers to you in a couple of minutes.

Make sure you already have the Lyft app already installed on your phone, it will make things easier!

Thanks. The Minnie Van seems more appealing as we need two car seats. We are a family of four and we would be going from AKV to BRV.

If you need car seats, and have four total, you should be able to fit at least a couple of bags. If you have strollers too, that might be an issue, though. It's a Chevy Traverse, which I think seats 8 regularly, but as a Minnie Van, I feel like it says it seats six plus two car seats. I could be wrong. Because it was just me and DH, and DH sat up front with the driver (the driver said, "you can sit up front if you want", so DH felt obligated to, lol) I had all kinds of room with just me in the middle row. We could have fit both of our suitcases and both carry on bags if we had needed to. But with four of you, including the two in car seats, I think it will just depend. Maybe you can take the most important bags with you and have Disney transfer the rest if everything won't fit.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you and have a smooth transition between resorts. Have a great trip!!

Great! Seems like this can work out for us with car seats and a couple of important bags. We could just send the stroller and other stuff to be transferred. Thanks everyone!

We always have spilt stays as the numbers in our party change and we use luggage delivery and like it a lot :) I always wonder why people say it takes too long when the arrival time for the luggage is at or just past check in time? Why bother to take your bags when you very likely have to store them with bell services anyway.

We send all our bags with luggage transfer and then plan a park/waterpark day and check in to the new resort after check in time. Our bags have always been there when we check in and our room is ready without the need for taxi/minivan/uber and time out of our day.

Back OT = the mini van is a 7 seat chevy so there will be room for some luggage - its a really fun ride but not always easy to get so it may or may not be quick. It also depends on your resort if you can even access the Minnie van via the lift app,

Enjoy the trip :)

I'm right there with ya. Sure, you may get your room early, and then could want bags but most of the time, you get a room after 3:00 and bags are there sometime between 3-5, depends on resort. We plan a day at the park where we aren't back at the resort till 5:00, so it matters little #1, when we get our room and #2, when the bags arrive. Both are ready by the time we head to the room.

I think with Villa's it's even more unlikely you would have a room before the bags arrive, right? Much lower chance rooms are ready early and they don't check in till 4:00?

Taking Minnie Vans is fun and you should do it sometime during the trip for sure.

Fwiw I never want to use the luggage service because I want to know where my bags are. Whether that means stashing them with Bell
at the first resort and going back later, or getting up earlier and stashing then at the second resort, doesn’t matter. I just want to know. :)

And last February we got into our villa at 9am so now I can’t help but hope for that from now on lol.

Luggage can go in the rear storage spce, where the two car seats won't be because they'll be attached to seats, and occupied.

This is correct. I drive a Buick Enclave, which is the same GM platform as the Traverse. You will have one adult in the front passenger seat, the two kids in car seats in the second row, and one adult in the third row.

If the driver is thinking, they will drop the smaller portion of the third row for sufficient luggage space. That will provide easier access to the third row, plenty of room for four carry-ons, and much more comfort for the adult in the third row. If they drop the larger portion of the rear seat, the adult will have to climb over stuff and have much less room.

Standard seating for a Traverse is 8, with two bench seats. If the middle row is two captains chairs, then it seats 7. I have not seen the inside of the MV's, so don't know what seating configuration they have.

With the back seat up, space will be limited to a few carry on bags or one suitcase with one or two carry ons. If the driver puts half of the back seat down, it will give you more room for bags, but limits seating in the third row.

The MinnieVan's have two captains chairs...I think specifically to accommodate the two child seats more easily. The third row is divided 1/3 - 2/3.

I run into this situation a lot driving my Enclave for Uber/Lyft. When we pick up at Port Miami or MIA, we often run into this scenario -- and usually with much more luggage than Sandiz08 will be carrying.

But with only four carry-ons, they won't have any problem. The driver can just drop the smaller part of the third row, there will be plenty of room for the carryons, and the 3rd-row rider will have clear access and much more room.

My DH & I used a MV to transfer from CCV to BWV last December. We each had one 21" roller bag and a small carry on. It wasn't a problem - the driver just moved the car seats around and there was plenty of room for both us and the luggage. Not sure I would want to do this if we had more than 2 or needed to use the car seats, though.
