Luggage Question

When I went on my first Disney Cruise, we took the Disney transportation straight to the ship after our plane landed, so we never had to worry about our luggage. But, on my next cruise, we are going to WDW first, but not staying on property, so we will have our luggage when we return our rental car to the airport and we will be taking the Disney transportation to the ship. So, my question is, will they store our luggage under the bus for us and we will take it on the ship ourselves, or do they store it and remove it for you and it will be delivered to your cabin? Thanks!

You should tag the bags you want delivered to your cabin when you get ready to leave WDW. They'll take them from you at the bus and they'll be delivered to your cabin just as if they'd been taken directly from the plane.

Ok, if I understand this, you are staying at an off property hotel near WDW and taking your rental car back to the airport before you go to Port Canaveral. Do I have that right?

In that case, you will take your luggage with you back to the airport. You will then meet the DCL reps who will escort you to the DCL bus. Your luggage will be taken (you need to have the DCL tags on at this point!) and the next time you will see it will be in your cabin. Sometimes it goes on the bus with you, most of the time it goes in a truck...but the bottom line is that you do not have to deal with it once you have met up with the DCL rep.

If you want to make your life easier, consider having DD drop you and the rest of the family and the luggage at the airport, then taking the car back. He'll then take the car rental shuttle back to meet you at the airport. THat way, you don't have to load the luggage onto the shuttle and back off at the airport (hee hee, I'm lazy!) Of course, you'll want to wait by the bus for him so you'll arrive at the port together.

We will be doing the same thing in April. But we always rent our cars from Dollar because their cars are at the airport and no shuttle is needed. It is just a very, very short walk.

Since you have the rental car, why don't you drive yourself to the port (save paying DCL $ for taking you there since you are already paying for the car) and drop off the car in port canaveral/cocoa beach? The obvious answer would be that who you are renting from does not have an office near the port. You can still buy a one way transfer from the ship to the airport.

Make SURE you DO NOT put the DCL luggage tags on your luggage before you leave home. When they see those tags at MCO, the bags then are automatically directed to the port.

Before you leave WDW you must tag the bags (makes it easier once you arrive at the airport or port).
