Luggage on Magical Express?

We will only be staying at WDW one night before heading to Port Canaveral for a Royal Carribbean cruise. I'm worried about our luggage not making it to our room/ getting "lost" and since we are leaving the next day, we have to have our suitcases! Can we just pick up our luggage at baggage claim before heading to the Magical Express check-in line? Will they let us bring our suitcases on the bus with us? Or am I just not giving the Magical Express luggage people enough credit and should we be safe to just tag it and it will end up in our rooms okay that night? Thanks!

Yes, just go get your luggage and bring it on ME with you. That way you have no worries and are assured you will be ready to go in the morning.

What time are you arriving at MCO? If it's before 6pm, I wouldn't worry too much about not having your luggage.
'If' DME misdirects your luggage, those bags should be fairly easy to find...they will be onsite, someplace.
It would be more common for the airline itself to misdirect your bags..not DME. And, if that's the case, you are going to have to track those bags yourself before leaving MCO. If the bags did get misdirected, by the airline, and you had tagged your bags with DME stickers, they would then start searching for them, on your behalf. They ask you, when you checkin, how many bags you tagged. That way, if not enough bags come through, they start looking.

It is completely up to you how you handle the luggage issue. Your bags 'should' reach your room up to 4 hrs after you checkin at your resort. It that is early enough in the day, it shouldn't be an issue.
But..if it makes you feel better to have your bags in your hands, then sure, go for it. Just don't tag the bags, then head to baggage claim and get them and then bring them to the bus, with you.

We did this last March. We arrived in MCO on Friday afternoon (around 5 PM) before our DCL cruise the next day. We used ME and had them transport our luggage to POFQ. We went to dinner at T-Rex in Downtown Disney and our luggage was in our room by the time we got back.

We typically get our own luggage and then proceed to the Magical Express area. No biggie - they simply put it on the bus with you.
