Luggage for the kids

I'm hoping to fit both boys into their "Going to Grandmas" suitcase. If not then I will put the youngest in there since his clothes are smaller, and the oldest will get a rolling gym bag. DH and I will probably each take a suitcase and pack a duffel in one for souvenirs. I'm really hoping though to fit the boys into one suitcase.

I'd suggest buying them seats on the plane. It's gonna get crowded in that suitcase! :lmao: J/K, I just love the way you worded that. I say stuff like that all the time. :)

You are a braver soul than I!

My friend flies several times a year, and about 10% of his luggage gets misdirected. One of his bags was lost last December and they never found it.

We always fly direct with SW so we don't usually have luggage problems.

lol:rotfl2:. You know its funny that you say that because I was sizing the suitcases this AM and my little one climbed in, pulled the top down, and went "Byebye See later."

I got personalized duffle bags from Lillian Vernon that are large enough for both girls to be packed into one and then I use the second one for the other stuff - our Accessory bag (ponchos, water bottles, igloo backpack, blankets, hats goggles, etc). The bags are big enough that when they go on sleepovers they pack their clothes, stuffed animals and pillows and can carry it like a backpack (Girl Scout Camp!) so they can carry their sleeping bag.

That is so cute! I hope you have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

We're hoping to take 2 checked bags for our family of 5.
I really pared down the clothing and want to have 2 pairs of shoes per person tops. We will each have a carry-on, and I am going to put an outfit in each child's bag just in case.

This will only cost us $60 (2 bags@$15 x trip out + trip home), and we are going to Florida in August! Shorts and tees, lightweight shoes, swimsuits...what do we really need anyway?:cool1:

I just picked up normal carryon size luggage from TJ Maxx. I think it was Swiss brand. One per person.

I didn't want to feel like I had to keep getting new luggage if we got the kids the cutsie kind with characters on it. So I went with normal luggage.
The kids actually shared a suitcase for a few years but now that DS13 has adult clothes, he needs his own suitcase.

I packed DS10 & DD6's stuff together in one big checked bag.

I did take the advice of a Dis-er and packed outfits in ziploc bags. I wrote on each bag DD or DS's name and park. It was easy for them to know (and myself too!) what to wear each day. This also helped with room. I would fold the clothes and place them in the bag. I would then sit on the ziploc to get most of the air out and zzzzipppp. DH walked in while I was doing this and chuckled... alright... he outright laughed. He did admit that it was a great idea. There was PLENTY of room in their suitcase and it weighed in at 35lbs. I have since packed this way for even weekend trips purely for the ease and reused the same bags. DS commented when we were at my brother's, "Mom, we aren't going to Animal Kingdom today!"

Disney Store has roll aboards on sale now if you are interested in carry ons for the kids! If they tote their own "stuff"- games, toys whatever- you will have more room for the clothes in your checked luggage.

That's so funny-I was going over the luggage this morning & came to see if anyone was doing what I am doing. Myself, DH & DD4 leave 9/1.
We are not travelers so I don't know too much. But, we are nonstop on JB & each ticket is allowed a claim bag under 50lbs.-a carry on & a personal bag. So, I am filling all 3 large bags 2 w/clothes & the other w/ toiletries & snacks (the way back this will be empty from being eaten & used then ready to filedl with any bought stuff). Then we each have a roll carry-on & my purse & laptop. I know it's alot but it's what I am allowed.
Is it too much?
