Thinking of having a Character Meal during my Christmas trip and was considering either the Lucky Nugget Saloon or Cafe Mickey. We did a Character Meal at Cafe Mickey during our last trip during lunch time and we had great character interaction.

Do they still have the band playing and the can-can dancers on the stage at the Lucky Nugget Saloon?

Can't comment on Cafe Mickey as we've never been but went to Lucky Nugget twice in Jan 09.

First time was mid week and mid-day, only us and 1 - 2 other families in there for the first half hour, brilliant character interaction, tigger and pluto took the kids to the buffet to get the food. Didn't see the band or dancers on this visit. We all enjoyed the food and came out feeling well fed.

The 2nd time was on a Saturday, similar booking time, but was extremely busy, I think partly due to the fact that it was also raining. Ended up sat upstairs, only prob with this is that you have to come down to get the food, there was a lot of people hanging round the reception waiting for tables and they were sitting on the bottom of the stairs, even tho the CM's kept asking them to move they were quite rude and we kept having to fight our way through to get to and from the buffet! Still had a lot of characters coming upstairs and they still spent a decent amount of time with each group even tho it was packed. Food was still as good but kept running out. We'd see them re-fill the buffet, but by the time we'd got down the stairs and fought our way through the reception etc most of it had gone again :sad2: The band played a couple of songs and then disappeard again, never saw any dancers tho'. Kids were given a small activity pack from reception when we left (got nothing the first visit :confused3 ) Waiters were nice and friendly, prompt with drinks etc on both visits.

I did add a review to the LN thread.

Definitely Cafe Mickey in my opinion!

We've done Lucky Nugget Three times (don't ask me why we went twice more after the disastrous first time but we did!) It is not good :sad2:

They did have the band playing, but no can can dancers anytime we've been there, the food is average at best and at worst, cold and awful. The meat always seems tough and the burgers less than half cooked (raw in the middle!) :sad2:, the best thing were the kids chicken nuggets but who wants to pay 32 euros per adult to sit and eat chicken nuggets?! :scared1:

Sometimes you have to sit on stools at a very narrow "bar-like" balcony type bench thing or you can also be seated upstairs (buffet is downstairs) which can be a pain in the backside when you have kids. Someone told me if your party is for less than 4 you will always be seated upstairs, but that's not the case, there's 3 of us and we've only had to sit there once, but complained and were moved to the silly balcony seats- dunno which was worse, those daft benches or the trek up and down the stairs!

The characters dont get round everyone every time, which is very disappointing and they tend to come out in threes at a time rotating roughly half hourly. When its busy, Characters upstairs tend to stay upstairs and that might leave some people dissapointed, and its a similar story downstairs.
I also have to say, that for me, it's dark and feels dingy. I am determined that we wont ever be back there!

Cafe Mickey is much lighter, brighter and better all round- pity it's in the village and not inside the park- which If I am completely honest, is probs why we've continued to waste our money and do Lucky Nugget

Inventions is also excellent and I can highly recommend, but please, save your money and give LN a miss really, it's just pants!

We used to really like Lucky Nugget, it was my boys favourite and even last night my youngest asked if we could go back in October, "to see if it's better again now".
Last time we went there in March 2009, we were really really disappointed and I know it was around the same time as others were complaing of poor service, food etc. Unless anyone can come up with a recent favourable review I'd be inclined to say stick with Cafe Mickey. :)

Yes Jill, you could have a point there....We were there twice last year (April and May) and once again this year (2010) in June. Actually I was incorrect in my previous post, we have now been 4 times... why did we bother??? laziness I think- because its handy, in the park and probably because we had more money than sense??!! (Only kidding )

Never EVER again :snooty: :guilty:  :headache:

Unless someone has been there since June can restore our faith??? popcorn::
