As exhausted as I was, the alarm clock only rang once and I was in the shower. The plan of action for Day 3 was MK at opening. Totally doable!
Showered and beautiful, I reached into my backpack and eeeeewwwwwwww
.my hand was covered in an icky-sticky mess. I had left a few Hersheys Caramel Kisses in my backpack. Apparently, like me, Hersheys kisses do not do well spending hours at the pool bar. The inside of my backpack was one giant chocolately mess. Yuck.
It was now decision time do I try to salvage the backpack or doom it to death by chocolate. After examining the extent of the mess and cleaning everything
inside the backpack, I decided that it was doomed. Doomed to a death by chocolate.
This was a message from the chocolate gods. They required a sacrifice. I had no problems giving the chocolate gods their booty I had a free $50 GC and I had seen an awesome backpack in AK. Isnt it wonderful how the chocolate gods were thinking of me?
With the mess cleaned up, I grabbed my camera and my book and headed to the bus stop. By 8:30 am, I was standing in front of MK waiting for the opening show. Wooohoo! At this point, I was debating my plan do I run to Space Mt first and then buy a backpack? Or do I buy the backpack and then run to Space Mt? The thought of my camera lose on Space Mt decided it backpack first.
I am going to get on my soapbox now most of you diehards already know this, but I need to say it.
ARRIVE BEFORE THE PARK OPENS. I cant stress this enough. Starting at park opening allows you to do so much more. It is essential to enjoying your time at Disney. DO IT or be prepared to face lines. Enough said.
Because I had arrived at MK opening, I was amazed at what I was able to do! By 9:15 am, I had purchased a new backpack, rode Space Mt, and rode Winnie the Pooh. By 9:15. That is only 15 minutes after the place opened. I didnt run either. It rocked.
Anyway, at the Emporium, I purchased the backpack I had seen in AK. Here is a blurry shot of it
Pretty cool, huh?
During this Monday morning in January, MK was amazingly empty. After quickly purchasing my backpack, I walked on Space Mt. I only squealed a little bit.

On my way to Pooh Bear, I passed the teacups and a cool March Hare shrubbery
In Fantasyland, I walked on or waited about 5 minutes
I rode Pooh Bear and Peter Pan. Ooh, that probably wasnt the best phrasing! Anyway, after Peter Pans flight, I was off to Mickeys Philharmagic. I love that show! How can you not love that duck? Here is a great shot from inside the store
After Philharmagic, it was Snow White and Its a Small World. Wow, the refurb on Small World was excellent. The song only stayed in my head for a couple of hours
At this point, I headed over to Frontierland to get a FP for Big Thunder Mt. I snapped some beautiful shots along the way
Also along the way, Lucky Bunny ran into a few of his cousins
Lucky Bunny begged me to take a Thumper home
actually, I am not a very good Thumpers Tara, because I dont own a Thumper. Wow. I really should adopt a Thumper! Hm. A Thumpers Adoption Trip is slowly forming in my mind
it wouldnt have to be a long trip - just a weekend. This has serious potential. Okay, back to the matter at hand
On the way back to the Haunted Mansion, I paused to take a picture of a waterless Splash Mt.
Yes, I was one of the Unfortunates. While I was in WDW, Splash Mt, Buzz Lightyear, and Test Track were under refurbishment. Bummer. It wasnt the end of the World, but it did seem weird to have 3 headliners down. It was neat though to see them working on Splash. The days I was there, they were doing some high-pressure water cleaning along the outside. I wonder what they were doing to the inside
The graves on the way into HM always amuse me. My favorite is
My dads name is Dave. My mental image of my dad chasing a bear into a cave is priceless.
After checking that I left my hitchhiking ghost behind, I headed over to Thunder Mt to use my fast pass. Here are a couple of shots from the walk in
I really like the second shot!
After my ride, I grabbed another fast pass for Big Thunder! The return time was only 30 minutes and I couldnt resist. With some time to kill until my next runaway railcar ride, I headed over to Pirates.
Lucky Bunny was excited about this ride. Here he is waiting in line
You cant tell we are in line for Pirates
but, honest, we are! After Pirates, I saw the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Birds. At this time, I tried to grab a Fast Pass for the Jungle Cruise, but they werent offering any. The line was at 40 minutes way too long for me! I headed back to Big Thunder, rode again, and grabbed another fast pass
Up Next...Going Grand!
