What a great report! You have a great sense of humour! I went on a cruise by myself in my early 20's and I really enjoyed doing what I wanted, when I wanted.
Can't wait to hear more!

I did have to laugh about your black belt comment. I work in the defense business, and I know exactly what type of black belt you must be! And yeah, I'd think Disney could use someone like you!

Working for Disney...a girl can dream. If you are in the defense industry, you must be used to seeing black belts all over...after all, BBs help justify why an ashtray costs $300 :rotfl2: Seriously though, that is a tough industry to work in! Good for you.

What do you think the odds are for us this year? With everything that has gone on, I have the scary feeling we are in for another rebuilding year!

I am always looking for serious PPCs...I will be in Rochester, NY this weekend ;) Just one town over from Buffalo!

Now that I have returned from Atlanta, done my taxes, and dug my way out of 2’ of snow, I am ready to continue with my adventure.

My momma always said that if my head wasn’t attached that I would probably lose it. Over the years, I have proved her right numerous times. I keep trying, but alas, I leave something else behind.

As I mentioned above, I left my swimsuit behind…it turns out I actually left something way more important behind as well…

With my room number in hand, I headed over to Bell Services. Here, I received some disappointing news. Even with the early luggage pick up time, my luggage hadn’t arrived at SSR yet. At least, that is what they told me. They didn’t seem overly confident though. They actually led me through the luggage room to see if my luggage was there yet. No luggage. So, I was sent off with a promise that my luggage really wasn’t lost and that they would call my room when it arrived.

On my way to my room, a front desk CM stopped me. She had something from POP for me. It was my swimsuit and…and…and…this is where I admit that my mom is right. If my head wasn’t attached, I would lose it. So, do you want to know what I left behind?

You really aren’t going to believe it.

I left Lucky Bunny at POP. See, my mom was right. I am hopeless. I left my mascot behind. What kind of bunny “mom” am I?

The good news is some wonderful mousekeeper found Lucky Bunny and my swimsuit. When I called for my swimsuit, they sent Lucky Bunny too. It is a good thing that Lucky Bunny is lucky – if not, he would be forever lost in Disney! Oh wait, that wouldn’t be so bad. Well, it was lucky for me…I don’t think I could have handled the guilt or my mom. Here is a picture of how Lucky Bunny found his way back to me…

Feeling like a terrible “mom”, I went to find my room. Wow. The location was worth the wait! My second floor room was exactly where the CM had promised – across from the main pool and right next to the bus stop. Great location. Some shots of my new home…

After taking pictures of the room, I freed Lucky Bunny from his “rescue” bag. Mousekeeping had left me a Towel Ducky – Lucky Bunny was excited to be with another washcloth animal!

90662100_1023.JPG

During my explorations, I discovered that I had a message from home waiting for me! I called home and talked to my mom (shhhh…I didn’t tell her about leaving Lucky Bunny behind). We shared my worries about the luggage and she reminded me to take lots of pictures. Like I needed reminding!

After I got off the phone, I relaxed briefly and then headed out for dinner. My PS was for 7:10, so around 6 pm, I headed to the bus stop for a bus to Epcot. The bus soon arrived. The bus ride over was freezing and I realized I had left my jacket behind. The first time I needed it and it was hanging up on the cool mirror back home.

Sigh. This turned out to be a big mistake. Part way through dinner, I got a case of the chills. You know the chills…the chills you get after being in the sun to long. I didn’t have sunburn, but I had sun exhaustion. I sat through dinner shivering. After a few bites of dinner, I gave up and had my server pack my food to go. What a bummer. Le Cellier ranked as the #2 restaurant on my list for this trip. It was a bummer not to fully enjoy it (see my review). On a positive note, it is just another reason to go back!

I dragged my tired, chilled behind back to the bus stop (Epcot really, really, really needs a themed people mover) and got the next bus home.

Thankfully, there was a message from Bell Services that my luggage had arrived. Five minutes after I called, it was in my room. Great service

The pool, beer, and sun had won. I was in bed and asleep by 10.

Up Next: Death by chocolate

Excellent reports Tara :) I am very envious of you getting to travel to WDW solo and do exactly what you want to do. Looking forward to the next installment - death by chocolate - what a way to go :rotfl:

Chocolate and Valentine's Day is very appropriate. C'mon Tara, you can't leave us hanging like this!!

Woohoo!! :cloud9:

As exhausted as I was, the alarm clock only rang once and I was in the shower. The plan of action for Day 3 was MK at opening. Totally doable!

Showered and beautiful, I reached into my backpack and eeeeewwwwwwww….my hand was covered in an icky-sticky mess. I had left a few Hershey’s Caramel Kisses in my backpack. Apparently, like me, Hershey’s kisses do not do well spending hours at the pool bar. The inside of my backpack was one giant chocolately mess. Yuck.

It was now decision time – do I try to salvage the backpack or doom it to death by chocolate. After examining the extent of the mess and cleaning everything inside the backpack, I decided that it was doomed. Doomed to a death by chocolate.

This was a message from the chocolate gods. They required a sacrifice. I had no problems giving the chocolate gods their booty – I had a free $50 GC and I had seen an awesome backpack in AK. Isn’t it wonderful how the chocolate gods were thinking of me?

With the mess cleaned up, I grabbed my camera and my book and headed to the bus stop. By 8:30 am, I was standing in front of MK waiting for the opening show. Wooohoo! At this point, I was debating my plan – do I run to Space Mt first and then buy a backpack? Or do I buy the backpack and then run to Space Mt? The thought of my camera lose on Space Mt decided it – backpack first.

I am going to get on my soapbox now – most of you diehards already know this, but I need to say it. ARRIVE BEFORE THE PARK OPENS. I can’t stress this enough. Starting at park opening allows you to do so much more. It is essential to enjoying your time at Disney. DO IT or be prepared to face lines. Enough said.

Because I had arrived at MK opening, I was amazed at what I was able to do! By 9:15 am, I had purchased a new backpack, rode Space Mt, and rode Winnie the Pooh. By 9:15. That is only 15 minutes after the place opened. I didn’t run either. It rocked.

Anyway, at the Emporium, I purchased the backpack I had seen in AK. Here is a blurry shot of it…
90662100_0774.JPG

Pretty cool, huh?

During this Monday morning in January, MK was amazingly empty. After quickly purchasing my backpack, I walked on Space Mt. I only squealed a little bit. :p On my way to Pooh Bear, I passed the teacups and a cool March Hare shrubbery…

90662100_0742.JPG

In Fantasyland, I walked on or waited about 5 minutes…I rode Pooh Bear and Peter Pan. Ooh, that probably wasn’t the best phrasing! Anyway, after Peter Pan’s flight, I was off to Mickey’s Philharmagic. I love that show! How can you not love that duck? Here is a great shot from inside the store…

90662100_0743.JPG

After Philharmagic, it was Snow White and It’s a Small World. Wow, the refurb on Small World was excellent. The song only stayed in my head for a couple of hours…

At this point, I headed over to Frontierland to get a FP for Big Thunder Mt. I snapped some beautiful shots along the way…

90662100_0745.JPG

90662100_0746.JPG

Also along the way, Lucky Bunny ran into a few of his cousins…

90662100_0747.JPG

Lucky Bunny begged me to take a Thumper home…actually, I am not a very good Thumper’s Tara, because I don’t own a Thumper. Wow. I really should adopt a Thumper! Hm. A Thumper’s Adoption Trip is slowly forming in my mind…it wouldn’t have to be a long trip - just a weekend. This has serious potential. Okay, back to the matter at hand…

On the way back to the Haunted Mansion, I paused to take a picture of a waterless Splash Mt.

90662100_0748.JPG

Yes, I was one of the Unfortunates. While I was in WDW, Splash Mt, Buzz Lightyear, and Test Track were under refurbishment. Bummer. It wasn’t the end of the World, but it did seem weird to have 3 headliners down. It was neat though to see them working on Splash. The days I was there, they were doing some high-pressure water cleaning along the outside. I wonder what they were doing to the inside…

The graves on the way into HM always amuse me. My favorite is…

My dad’s name is Dave. My mental image of my dad chasing a bear into a cave is priceless. :rotfl2:

After checking that I left my hitchhiking ghost behind, I headed over to Thunder Mt to use my fast pass. Here are a couple of shots from the walk in…I really like the second shot!

90662100_0752.JPG

90662100_0753.JPG

After my ride, I grabbed another fast pass for Big Thunder! The return time was only 30 minutes and I couldn’t resist. With some time to kill until my next runaway railcar ride, I headed over to Pirates.

90662100_0754.JPG

Lucky Bunny was excited about this ride. Here he is waiting in line…
90662100_0756.JPG

You can’t tell we are in line for Pirates…but, honest, we are! After Pirates, I saw the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Birds. At this time, I tried to grab a Fast Pass for the Jungle Cruise, but they weren’t offering any. The line was at 40 minutes – way too long for me! I headed back to Big Thunder, rode again, and grabbed another fast pass…

Woohoo!! :cloud9:

Don't laugh too hard! I forgot today was Valentine's day. Yesterday was my birthday, so I was concentrating more on that! Also, as a single gal, Valentine's day isn't so much fun...wow, without meaning to, I got a cool theme going on. :teeth:

I Love going to Disney with my DH and Kids, but Disney by myself, sounds great. To do all that you want when you want, I can't even imagine it. I try to take a day to myself when we are there. My oldest don't mind she'll stay at the pool, my youngest always gets stuck with me in the stroller, but this year he wanted nothing to do with going to the park with mommy, and mommy never got to go by herself this year, because too many family members were with us.
So I am enjoying everything you did. Keep writing.

Maria

Tara -

I love your trip reports. I can't help but wonder what people are thinking as a grown woman takes a picture of a stuffed bunny while in line for POC. Too funny!!! :rotfl2:

Again, thanks for the pics!

By now, my feet were starting to ache, so I headed over to the WDW Railroad. I took the Grand Tour around the Railroad. Actually, I did more than the Grand Tour – I rode it one stop past where I got on. Some photos from the Grand Tour…

I ended my Grand RR Tour in Toontown and headed over to Tomorrowland. I had never experienced the TTA, so I decided to give my feet another break and headed there. I ended up on a Grand Private Tour on TTA…

I never used the third fast pass. By then, it was lunchtime, the crowds were getting thick, and I was losing steam. My PS for my Grand Tea wasn’t until 3:30, but I decided to head over to the Grand Floridian and see if I could be seated earlier. On my way out, I snapped this grand picture of the castle…

90662100_0767.JPG

I had a bit of time to kill before tea, so I decided to take the resort boat instead of the monorail. I am so glad I did. I was able to relax and enjoy the grand sunshine.

90662100_0770.JPG

90662100_0769.JPG

Once I arrived at the Grand Floridian, I strolled to the main building and headed straight over to Guest Services. The CM at Guest Services was a big help. I was hoping she would be able to move my Grand Tea reservations from 3:30 to 2:00. As she was looking for my PS, she did briefly make me feel like an imposter though. She asked me where I was staying. I thought that she was going to boot me from the desk when I answered SSR. However, she was just making conversation. She followed her question with how was I enjoying my time at SSR. Phew. Luckily, she was able to find a 2:10 Grand Tea available.

As it was only 1:30, I decided to find a seat in the lobby, pull out my book and chill. Ah, it felt good to rest! While chilling, I snapped a few pictures of the Grand lobby…

90662100_0773.JPG

Shortly, it was time for my Grand Tea. I love the Grand Tea. It is so relaxing, delicous, and so British. This was my second Grand Tea and I think I will make it an every trip tradition!

After tea, I took the boat back to MK and limped my way to the SSR bus stop. No one was in line, so I pulled out my book and settled in to wait for the bus. After 30 minutes, a bus still hadn’t arrived. The lady behind me decided enough was enough. She headed straight for the managers (i.e. the CMs in pants and button downs). They quickly came over to question and apologize. Apparently, an SSR bus had assigned 12 minutes ago. I confirmed with them that I had been waiting for 30 minutes and no SSR bus. I was sure of the time I had been waiting – after waiting for a bus at AK, I decided to measure the time I spent waiting for buses to SSR – and hey, Eeyore never lies! They apologized again and said they knew we weren’t lying. They had a bus sent right to us! So, about 40 not-so-grand minutes after I got in line, I was on my way to SSR. I was ready for some pool time and a nap…

Are you glad I am done with the Grand report? I promise you I didn't get paid by the grand…

Just subscribing. Thanks for the wonderful report. I'm different about working out my sorrow at the end of a WDW trip; instead of writing trip reports, I have to stay away from anything Disney for awhile until I don't feel so deprived!
