I was thinking of dressing as lucy for halloween...what do you think would comprise an ideal "lucy" get up, besides the red hair.... :wave2:

If you can find an old shirt-waist dress & a lot of petticoats (fluffy slips) that would work (along with an apron!) Or a slacks outfit, with an over-skirt that opens up in the front - if that makes any sense! Do a google search for Lucille Ball to see some pictures of her and you'll see the type of clothes she typically wore.

This week's TV Guide which is the last small edition, Has Reba MacIntyre dressed as Grape Stomping Lucy. I believe this episode was voted the all-time best. I would get some Purple Die to stain shirt, Skirt and Hands.

These are good ideas and I would add to get flat ballet type shoes. She usually wore them with the open dress/pants outfits. She had one she wore in the Hollywood episodes that was a lace dress with the bottom open and dark capri pants underneath. I loved some of those outfits of hers! Remember that beautiful cardigan with the matching purse ball that she had to give to her friend (Marilyn Applebee?) for voting for her in some women's club election? I loved that sweater/purse combo!

Tenia 66, I have the polka dot dress costume from the above link. I was the principal from Grease in our ice show last year, and that is the costume they stuck me with. I'd be willing to sell it cheap if you are interested. PM me if you are interested. Mine is an adult plus size, but fits like an XL. Runs a little small. It does not include the wig, but does have the dress, apron, little bow tie, and a white hair bow.

thanks for the offer but i'm a size 6 plus i don't need to spend much money on the costume, just going to dig thru what i have....i've got the red hair by the way

There was a couple of women at the Adventurers Club once when I was there dressed as Lucy and Ethel in the candy factory episode. I thought they were darling. You can see them in my halloween scrapbook here. Just go to the bottom of the page and look at the little photo album.
