Day 2

Up bright and early and down to Roaring Forks for breakfast. What’s this…Breakfast Pizzas? I’ve heard of those, so we try one with bacon and one with sausage and share. Yum! Now it’s 8:00am, and we’re off to the Magic Kingdom, and early entry. We take the boat, and enjoy the scenery. We notice that the crowds are light, as we pass thru the gates, and on to Main Street. Look at all the folks lined up to see the characters. It’s funny, but the parents are more excited then most of the children. This is my first inkling that Disney is more for adults then kids. We head over to Tomorrow Land and ride Buzz Lightyear. I’ve heard a lot about this ride, and thought Murf might like it. It’s a competition thing; “Oh look, I’ve got higher score.” We then do Alien Encounter. Cool! It looks different than I remembered. Well, it’s been 8 years since I was last here; I guess they could make a change or two. We then rode the Tomorrowland Transit Authority; I’ve always liked this ride. It gives a great overview of the area, and I enjoy the glimpse it gives of other attractions in the area. We then returned to BL for another go, this time Murf is the better scorer. (It’s only right, you know.) As we leave this area, we are amazed that the crowds are so light. I’d been told that this area is where everyone rushes to 1st thing in the morning, but everything is a walk on for us!

It’s then off to Fantasyland, where I just have to try the new Pooh ride, but Murf sat this one out, finding a place to enjoy his pipe for a bit. We then rode Snow White, another one I hadn’t done before, and Peter Pan. We then walked over to Liberty Square, to enjoy the Haunted Mansion. There was a wait for the Hall of Presidents, so we headed for Splash Mountain, and got the front seat. We enjoyed the drop but I could have skipped the refreshing spray at the end. We felt the heat of the day starting, and finished with a quick trip to Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Tiki Room. I don’t want to offend anyone, but I liked the old version better. Believe it or not we did all this by noon! We started looking for someplace to have lunch, but there were crowds at all the dining areas. So we just went back to the Whispering Canyon for Lunch. Murf had the Fish Sandwich and I had the Chicken Salad. We did enjoy Mud Slides too, very refreshing after a morning at the park. Then it was back to the room to rest. When we opened the door there were towel animals abound! We had an alligator under the suitcase stand, an albatross on one of the beds, in the bathroom as the sweetest little bunny, and on the nightstand was a kitten! I loved them! I hid the bunny and kitten everyday, for fear they would take them away.

That evening we drove over to MGM. I had never been to this park so it was all new to me. It was just before the Motor Car Parade, and the crowds were building along the route. We had time for Great Movie Ride before our dinner at The Brown Derby. We had the Fantasmic Dinner Package scheduled for that night, using two of our wishes. We both had the Lump Crab Cake that was delicious, Murf enjoyed the Rack of Lamb, and I had the Filet, both were good, and for dessert I had the Raspberry Mousse, and Murf enjoyed the Crème Brule. Murf had coffee, and I had iced tea and a glass of Merlot. After dinner we rode the Muppets and then it was time to make our way to Fantasmic. This was a long walk via the “special entrance”, but the show was really great! We have special passes to see this again during our stay as part of the Silver Package, but we never made it, too bad, I would have enjoyed seeing it again. However it was an even longer walk out, (what were they thinking about when they designed this??) Once back to Lodge, it was more hot tub time. Tomorrow Murf goes golfing!

I love your trip reports, They are making me miss disney more and more. Thanks you for sharing your great stories.

Wonderful reports ~ Thanx for sharing.

I'm with you -- original Tiki Room was MUCH better. Only improvement is the "pre-show" with William & Morris.

Fantastic day - you sure fit a lot in!

Glad you liked Brown Derby - it is one of our favorites!

We ate at the Brown Derby for the Fantasmic Dinner Package too! It's been a tradition that we close our vacation with the show of shows so we did it on our last night at the world. Still brings lots of emotions. Illuminations still takes the prize for making my eyes tear. :)

We scheduled Hollywood & Vine for our dinner package, but you are making me want to change it to the Brown Derby. This was my first choice, but DH is a picky eater. He was afraid there wouldn't be anything he liked! Oh, Well!

is going to be a must do, for every trip from now on. A great place! Yum!
