Luau cancellations?

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this. We have ADRs for the Luau this coming Saturday night. But it's looking like there might be some heavy storms that afternoon/evening.

If the Luau gets canceled, how can you find out about it? Is this something you won't know about until you get there? The reason I ask is that we will be at Epcot that day and might as well stay there to eat if the Luau gets rained out.

Have any of you experienced this?

We had ADR's for the Luau in June 08 and the night we went it was coming a really bad thunderstorm. We asked if they would cancel and they said "no" that the tables were covered therefore guests not getting wet. It ended up lightening struck their stage and so it was cancelled after all. They refuned our 2 table credits and we ended up eating CS that night at Poly b/c Ohana was already booked.

So we did the Luau this past Oct when we were there. The tables are covered, but I would NOT have wanted to been sitting there during the terrible storm that was in June 08 when lightening struck. It would have been very distracting I think.

They don't cancel the Luau just for rain - it'd have to be a severe storm. And no, in a lot of cases you won't find out until you get there. I think you might have to turn up over there to get a refund if you prepaid for the luau. A couple of cancellations were announced this month due to cold, but sometimes I don't think they get to announce ahead of time for a severe storm.

We will be using ECVs on our trip in Sept. and I am wondering about the rain also. Is there a covered area for these?
