Hi
I've never been to this. How is the show and food. Do you think it's worth it? Also, I don't eat meat. Does anyone know what they'll give you if you don't eat meat? Thanks!

It's an incredible waste of money, in my opinion. The show seems endlessly long and it's very cliched and not engaging at all, except for the 10 or so minutes with the fire baton guy. I don't think I could sit through that show again even if the food was exceptional, but it's mediocre at best.

I am not a 'foodie' and I'm VERY easily entertained, so it's not snobbery when I say this. I just really, really did not enjoy this show at all, and I love the Poly. I expected to LOVE the luau and HATE the Hoop de Doo (I don't like fried chicken or 'barbeque' food or anything western-themed) but HDDR was vastly superior to the Spirit of Aloha in every way.

My family enjoyed the show. We thought the food was wonderful. We took my parents with us, and my mom has a ton of allergies. They made sure that her food was just as good as ours. They went above and beyond to accomadate her. We also enjoyed the beer and wine that was included. We will definatly be going back!

I have been to both the Luau and the HDDR and wasn't really impressed with the Luau. The first half of the show was incredibly corny and not very entertaining. The food was edible but nothing special. The show itself doesn't last long, so don't plan on getting your monies worth on drinks. They offer free beer (bud light) and sangria (cheap mix of white wine and punch) and you really can't drink that much in the 1.5 hours you are there since you are dependent on your server to bring you refills.

Having been to a real luau in Hawaii I thought this was a cheap imitation and not worth the time and money.

We happened to like the show and thought the food was very good. Everyone has different tastes.. Some people love it, some people hate it. We always go in to restaurants with an open mind. Take a look at the menu and if it seems like something your family would enjoy, try it!

On another note, I'm a vegetarian and I had a very tasty meal here. It was vegetable stirfry and noodles. Yum! :thumbsup2

My family liked the show. The food was adequate, not spectacular, not terrible either. If cost is not an issue with you then i say go form your own opinion. If you like it you know you can go back and enjoy it again some day and if you don't like it you know to try something else next time.:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone!! I always heard that it wasn't very good, but a girl at work said that her family really liked it.

My family of all 8 adults love the luau. The show is split into two parts. The first part is kinda corny but that is good so you can enjoy the yummy food. The second part consists of the dancers in traditional costume from different regions performing traditional dances. The show ends with a fire dancer. He wows me every time.
I will admit that the food is not the best in the World but it is very good!

I loved HDDR and am going back on our nxt trip in may, we are going to the luau too and are very hopeful :) the experience is what you make it

My family enjoyed the Luau. I think it is one of those things that is good to do once. The food was good, and my DD was 5 at the time and she enjoyed the hula dancers, and the fire guy.
We were staying at the Poly and did the Luau on our first night. It really set the theme for us.

Glad to hear the different opinions about the Luau and HDDR. These were the two shows I was insistent upon getting ADRs for. The way I see it, my family will probably never make it to Hawaii to see an authentic luau and getting to experience it at Disney is the next best thing. The HDDR I've been told is very corny, but we've got 2 little boys who love corny and the whole family is BBQ freaks, so it was a no-brainer scheduling this one.

I agree with a previous poster, it's what you make of it and that goes for just about anything you do.

Thanks again for all the replies. I'll see if everyone wants to go. It might be something fun!!
