LTT- Is it worth it during a party?

Hello DISers!

I posted this over on the restaurant forum, but it didn't get many reviews/ replies before dropping to the second page.

Here is the situation: On my next trip, I will be in MK for one day only, for a Christmas party. I have never been to MVMCP. We plan on getting there by 4:00 and staying until they kick us out! I just scored a 4:55 ressie for LTT. I wasn't planning on doing a TS restaurant on a party night bc time is precious, but I have been wanting to try LTT for a long time (it was closed during my last trip and I couldn't snag a ressie on the trip in 2012). It is the only TS restaurant I am considering bc of how long I have been wanting to try it.

Here are my questions:Since dinner is family style, with the drinks being the only thing you need to order, does dinner go by quicker than other TS restaurants, meaning can we get out of there faster than other restaurants such as 50's PT? Just wondering if I should really spare some of my precious time in MK to eat at LTT. Can I ask for the bill at the beginning of the meal, so that is out of the way? I am not a "foodie". I just like a good meal. Is it worth it since the refurb?

Thanks!

It depends on the day. I've gotten out of there super quick and I've also had it take forever. I would allot an hour for the meal. Since the party doesn't start until 7, you won't miss any of that.

Worth it? I'm not sure - but this is coming from someone who prefers LTT at lunch. Depends on your goals. Lots of folks use the 4-7pm to get in rides - or maybe line up for popular meet n greet that happens during the party (typically not until around 6pm). Lots of party goers do eat dinner during that 4-7 - so that's not unusual and while TS takes longer - it's not THAT much longer. I do think asking for the bill early will help.

If it's just you - or if the the rest of your party is really capable of staying awake until the very end - I think this plan is acceptable. MK is reasonably crowded at that time - so unless you have FP's - the lines can be long then anyway.

I would say no, just because your time is already going to be limited in the MK, and it's the only day you're there. Rides/Attractions/Characters would be more of a priority to me. If you prioritize a thanksgiving-esque meal ahead of rides/attractions/characters, then I would say it's worth it.

Imho, I'd say no. Especially if you want to meet any hard to meet characters during the party. Some character queues begin way before the party.

If hard to get characters or LE merchandise isn't planned, then dinner at LTT would be fine before the party starts.

I would also say no. We love LTT, but I wouldn't book a TS during a party. I would suggest you eat a late lunch somewhere, like around 2:30pm at one of the resorts. Then you can snack in the park

I'm not planning on meeting any of the popular chars but I would like to use 3 FPs during that 4-7 time frame, which might be hard if we get delayed in LTT. At this point, I am leaning towards canceling it. Looking at the menu, it doesn't seem *that* special. Now.... if I scored a BoG ressie, that might be a different story.

Thanks everyone!

I think with a 4:55 ADR, you should be done before 7pm. We like to do a TS on our party night, but I never schedule the ADR later than 5. Between 4-5pm is ideal for us and we have had success so far with it, where we never had to rush the meal and we were done with plenty of time before the party. Being in the park already is also a great thing. Just relax and enjoy it. I wouldn't do a TS during the party though, as you said, that time is precious and goes by fast. I have read great reviews since the refurb, but haven't been. You can certainly ask for the bill right away. Enjoy!

LTT is usually backed up. I've never been sat any closer to my ADR than 15 minutes late. Given many will be trying to eat there prior to party time I imagine it will be very busy. Family style does not make it faster. All the times we have been they take your drink order then bring them, then they bring salad and bread. Then you will get your remaining dishes. If you want more (it's all you can eat) you need to let them know and they will then bring more. When you are done you let them know and they will bring dessert. It's not a fast meal. Will you be done before 7, probably. Is the 4-7 pm time important; rides, lining up for special characters etc? If not then go for it, you won't be hungry the rest of the night.

I don't think much has changed since refurb, the bulk of the work was in the kitchen. For us though, if on DDP = dinner, if OOP = lunch. We enjoy lunch better overall but it's not a value on the DDP and dinner is too expensive for the meal (to me).

I think you are fine especially since it's an early ADR. I think ask g for your bill early is a great idea and also signals to the server that you are wanting to speed things up a bit. Since you've been wanting to do this for so long I say go for it!

I vote no. When they used to have characters, we would get a 5:30 ADR on party nights and eat before the party. We however never had that as our only MK day. We really enjoyed our dining experience there but the food was not the highlight and we have not been since they dropped characters years ago. I would eat a really big meal, out of the park around, 2ish and just grab a quick bit to eat at the MK.

We like LTT better at lunch as well so my initial inclination was no, that it's not worth it. However, you'll need to eat anyway and it's better to eat before the party begins at 7pm so you're not wasting party time. If your main focus at MK that day is all things party related, then I don't think it's a bad idea to keep it since you'll finish up before the party begins. But if you'd like to get in rides and shows in addition to the party specific things, then I'd cancel it. There are some shows and rides that don't operate during the party, so we always use the time before the party starts to get those done. Plus once the party begins, we've found there's not a ton of time for rides if you want to do character meets, etc. Also keep in mind that for some of the more popular character meets, you'll want to line up before 7pm as well.

Thank everyone for the your opinions! So many things to consider! I am going to drop it. I will be at the party with my parents, who actually prefer lunch there. Since it is our only park day this trip I would rather spend time on the rides.
