Anyone out there try to eat low-carb or Adkin's Diet regimen at the Magic Kingdom "Cosmic Ray's Counter Service"?

What was your experience?

I am trying to list one restaurant per thread and talk about low-carb eating at that particular restaurant.

A lot of us on the DIS W.I.S.H.(We're Inspired to Stay Healthy) forum are trying to eat low-carb or Adkin's Diet at Walt Disney World.

I will list some of the low-carb foods from the menu below. I can add or subtract the foods as we learn more about the hidden carbs. Maybe we can even add the nutrient values to each food. You can use the links below to research the whole menu. Who wants to start?

From your menu highlights, it sounds like you're on the right track! I've been low-carbing for a couple years, although I do tend to be a little looser on vacation. I try to do pretty strict low-carb for 2 meals of the day and then do a MINOR splurge on the 3rd meal. With all the walking, I don't lose any weight but I don't gain any while at WDW either.

I also find the quality of the burgers at counter service places like Cosmic Ray's to generally be not as good as the burgers you get at a sit-down restaurant like the Plaza Restaurant (NOT the Plaza Pavilion). This is just my opinion - your mileage may vary.

I'm not only a low-carber, I'm also a recent Weight Loss Surgery patient. Cosmic Ray's is a great place for quick, cheap low-carb food. The grilled chicken sandwich, minus the bread, is great for me.

Besides, I can't spend money on a big, expensive dinner like I used to because 80% of it goes to waste.
