Low availability for Deluxe 10/4-10/9

My kids' school is finally giving them a fall break this year, and so we are thinking of booking a trip for 10/4-10/9. I cruised by the Disney website today thinking I'd just leisurely look around, plenty of time, right? But to my surprise, there doesn't seem to be as much available as I thought there would be. Don't get me wrong, there's availability, but not as much as I thought there would be this far out. For example, no rooms of any kind available at WL, only club rooms or lagoon view rooms open at Beach Club, etc. And all we need is one room, so it's not like I'm trying to get adjoining or anything out of the ordinary

What gives? I was in no rush to book a trip right now, but should I be?

With so many schools taking breaks in October it has become a popular time of the year to go. The weather is nice and you also have Food and Wine/Halloween parties going on. It's a great time to go and most people have started realizing it as well!

Gartner IT is that week. Goes October 1-5 this year, and books mostly Deluxes.

Many people stay extra days after the conference, but even so, if you're looking starting the 4th, those rooms are booked through the 5th by conference goers even if they aren't staying over, so availability will be weak.

October is pretty busy these days as well. But if you're mostly looking Deluxe, they're all full of conventioneers.

I see. That sucks. May have to go with a Moderate then. I guess I'll save money!
