Just back from POR and I loved this resort. The grounds are beautiful and so peaceful. I had requested bldg #27, second floor, corner room and I got all my requests (except that our corner room had only one window). Excellent location not too far from main bldg and bus stop, and very quiet. Also very close to main pool, which although we had rainy and cold weather, the kids got to swim in at least once. Towels are provided at the pool area so you dont have to bring them from your room.
The room was clean, but as people have already mentioned, could use some refurbishment. There were stains on the carpet and chairs. Mousekeeping did a very good job and always did something amusing with my DDs stuffed animals. There first couple of days, I forgot to leave a tip, then when I left a catch-up payment, that night when we got back there were three towel animals!
We took the bus to all the parks, and never had to wait very long. Bus ride was anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes. When we took the bus early, it went directly to the park (from the south depot). However, when we took it later (after 9am), it usually did the three other stops at POR before heading to the parks. The bus system is very convenient when the parks are open. After park closure, its a whole other story! Then the only option is to go to DTD to transfer. One night, after dinner at Chef Mickeys, it took us 2 hours to get from the Contemporary resort to POR! So, for the other two nights when we had dinner at the Polynesian, we took a cab!
Since we had a grocery stop to buy drinks, we didnt get the refillable mugs this time. But, for those who are interested, they are purple.
The only real problem we had was with bell services on check-out. The night before we were leaving, I asked bell services to pick up our bags around 5am because our towncar was picking us up at 5:15am. They were booked and the only time slot they had available was at 4:10am! So, be sure to book them ahead of time to get the time you want!
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. My only regret was to not have had an extra day or so in order to spend more time relaxing at the resort. Maybe next time !
Id be happy to answer any questions!
