Loved our stay at GF and definitely will return. But DH wants to try YC first. I explained to him that it's as expensive to stay at YC as it is to stay at GF He's not hearing me though and I guess I'm not hearing him either. We LOVE MK, so why choose YC just to have closer access to EPCOT? So what! I would much rather wake up to the Cinderella Castle. Maybe we could split the stay if it's not too much of a hassle. I don't know ... So YC fans, tell me why you pay that amount of money when you could stay at a MK resort for about the same price.

Actually YC is cheaper than GF. Usually by $50 per night or so, depending on season and room category. So, there can be a significant savings by staying at YC over the GF. Personally, I prefer the GF over the YC and would choose it regardless of price. The YC is a very nice resort, and the pool can't be beat. I don't think you'll be disappointed in a YC stay.

YC is all in 1 building - which is a major draw for me. SAB can't be beat & the BW is just over a bridge, so there's plenty of restaurants & entertainment choices within walking distance, as well as Epcot & MGM. It's a great area to stay in, so give it a try! :boat:

Let your Husband try his time at the YC. I have stayed at both and I prefer the YC and it is a bit cheaper. I like the water view rooms that look across to the Boardwalk, and you are close to two of the parks. It is an exciting area to stay in. Variety on vacations is great. :)

I've not stayed at the GF but I prefer the YC over the Poly. I think the Epcot resorts have the best overall location and, of course, the best pool. You're not just close to Epcot, you're also close to MGM and the Boardwalk.

You can boat too. I love the location. I am quite the opposite of OP, I don't know why you would pay more to stay at GF when you could stay at YC, BC, BWI or even Swan and Dolphin. We love MGM first and Epcot second. It' perfect for us.

Let's not overlook the Beach Club, folks! :cool1:

It's sort of the 'siamese twin' of the Yacht Club, with a somewhat sunnier color scheme, but just as wonderful a location. It may lack a little of the "swank" factor that distinguishes the YC -- no gleaming brass, no dark wooden accents, no models of ships crowding the lobby -- but it's very nearly as nice.

Personally, I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the GF -- she was "my first" (WDW hotel, that is) and every time I go there I am flooded with fond memories of our first stay.

But I've grown to love the other deluxe resorts, too. Nothing can quite compare with being able to walk to and from IllumiNations every night in just five minutes!

You should definitely try YC. It's lovely. We stayed there for my birthday last year. If you have kids or if you like to swim Stormalong Bay (the three acre pool!) is a big bonus. :cool1: Also your DH might like it. That is the one resort my dad keeps wanting to return to. Whenever my mom calls to make a reservation my dad asks if we are going to YC. The BW is also great! :D

We just stayed at the Yacht Club and Can not say enough good things about it. Now, I have never stayed at GF. I will say being a couple with no kids (40) We really liked the fact that ... yes there were kids there but It felt like there were more adults and it seemed quiet over all to us. We went over to the GF and my husband thought it was much louder and busy in the lobby.
We loved stormalong bay and we didn't even go in swimming. We just fell in love with the place.
My husband's favorite park is also MK but the bus service was excellent and the boat service to EPCOT and MGM was perfect.quiet and realxing!

I have always wanted to stay at GF but it will be very hard to pull me away from YC now!!!

You should try the YC. We have stayed at both but I would always choose theYC over the GF. Of course when we were at the GF it was extremely busy and the lobby bathrooms were disgusting. We were in the furthest possible building from the parking lot too. We love Storm-along-bay and we love being able to walk to Epcot and Boardwalk. It doesn't hurt to try a different resort (even if you split your stay) just to see if you can like something else. Give hubby a chance to pick.

It's not difficult at all to switch--the bell staff will transfer your luggage for you. We usually transfer at least once during our stays (for a different vantage point from which to visit the parks--while at GF we go to MK over and over again, then when we transfer to either Swan/ Dolphin/ Boardwalk/ Beach club or Yacht Club, we visit Epcot and MGM...and of course, we love AKL's promixity to AK).

I personally much favor GF over the Yacht Club. I was in Beach club concierge two weeks ago and had a very nice visit...I've stayed in a water view category at the Yacht Club and we visited the concierge staff at the YC while we were at the Beach Club. It's a quieter resort, more adult themed, but I prefer GF's high ceiling'd lobby, children's on site activities, pool area (I'm a big fan of the waterfall pool), the separate buildings and the theming, the room decor and the super comfortable beds princess: . GF is my all time favorite WDW resort. Just love it :).

We have stayed at both and much, much prefer YC over GF--and we stayed in a standard room at YC vs. a room in Sugar Loaf at GF.

Thanks for your opinions folks. Poor DH ... I just asked him what he thinks of WL concierge. It's less than GF and YC. Ahhh ... the choices!!

Give the YC a try. It's my favorite hotel at Disney -- I absolutely love it. Love the decor, love the rooms, love the location, love the staff, love SAB, love the whole package. I'm a big walker so I love being able to walk to MGM and Epcot if I want to. I love the whole Boardwalk area, it's so charming. I love entering Epcot in the World Showcase.
I've never stayed at the GF though so maybe I'm not qualified to comment? I'm always afraid that if I stay at the GF that it will never be able to live up to my expectations. Silly I know . . .

I have the same feelings. Sometimes I think about splitting our stay between GF and BC/YC for the pool but I can't imagine waking up and not seeing the castle. I might give it a try but DH won't budge. He loves GF and since our kids are young we both love the convenience of GF to the MK.
