Loved DLR again!

Just back from a most excellent 4 days at DL/Grand Californian. We brought along my parents and an exchange student from Holland (all first-timers to California and Disneyland.) Everyone enjoyed themselves. Some highlights:
**Staying at Grand Californian. The proximity to the parks made it easy for my parents to take a break and rest whenever they needed to. The resort is beautiful--we needed more time to really take advantage of all that's there. I'd recommend having one less park day than days booked at the hotel so you can spend a day enjoying all GC offers.
**California Adventure. We really enjoyed this park--maybe 'cause we were so close. I tried California Screamin'--glad I did it once, don't need to go again--kids couldn't get enough of it. I'm hoping they keep all that's great about this park.
**San Diego. We headed there after DL for three nights--what a beautiful and tourist-friendly area. We really enjoyed Old Town, the Midway, Seaport Village, La Jolla, and the Del. My father, who swore he never wanted to visit California (afraid of traffic and earthquakes-- ), was surprised by how much he loved all of what he saw/did.
Southern California has really stolen my heart. What a wonderful place!

It really is a nice place as long as you can navigate yourself around some of the less desireable areas. I was born in Ventura, so I know there are some really nice areas around there. Wish I still lived there, I would visit Disneyland all the time. 1hr-30min drive is nothing for Disneyland (that I love), I have an hour commute to work in Seattle,(that I don't love) sometimes with traffic it can be alot more.
