Inspired by another thread on automatic answers that pop out of your mouth, well, er, automatically:

Aren't we all in the habit of ending our phone calls with our loved ones,"Love you honey! Bye!"

So have you ever said "Love you! Bye!" to somebody by mistake, like the pizza delivery guy?? :rotfl: My DH is on the phone with customers a lot and he says he's afraid it's going to pop out without him realizing it.

At my last job, one of our physicians said it to our office manager without even realizing it. After the phone call ended, she marched out into the general office area and announced, "Guess what! Russ loves me!!" to the general hilarity of us all. He was MORTIFIED when we teased him about it later! :sunny:

I answered the phone once "Hi, hon" to a guy who was calling to give me an estimate on gutters...but so far have not told any strangers that I love them. How about you?

Oh, this is a good thread topic!!! :rotfl:

I haven't done this yet, but my husband has!

I can't remember exactly what was going on but I think I was making a doctor appt for him or something, so I had talked to him on the phone at work and was then going to call him back to let him know the time. Apparently, before I could call him back his boss called and without looking at the Caller ID he just picked up the phone and said "Hi there baby!"

He was mortified!!!! I felt bad, but I couldn't stop laughing! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

It still make me giggle...

I used to work for our district's Crisis Response Team. I would answer the phone, "Crisis service, this is Lindsay." I can't tell you how many times I answered my home phone that way. In my defense, I did it for 10 months on 3rd shift (midnight-8) so when I got home I was kinda out of it.

One day at work I was on the phone with one of our sales guys. When the call ended, he said, "OK, bye. Love you". We hung up, the conversation processed in my head and I immediately called him back. I said, "Did you just end the call with telling me you loved me?". We had a good laugh at his mistake.

I told the Yankee Candle customer service guy that I loved him. Finished my order and said "love you babe" and hung up. Once I realized what I had said I giggled about it all day.

I have done this countless times. :sad2:

dh and i just talked about this the other day. we always end our calls with "love you, bye". in dh job he is on the phone quite a bit so i asked him if he had every made this mistake and he hasn't yet but.......one of our employers who is usually around when dh calls me ended a phone call with dh this way by mistake. we still tease him to this day.

dh has emailed someone else thinking he was emailing me, and ended it with, love you babe!! that email has been forwarded everywhere in the company now.

Yeah, I did it with my kids' principal at school. The bad thing was that he said "love you too"... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Really. He was just a good friend.

Thats the best!!! :lmao: :lmao:

:rolleyes1 I answered the phone one day and it was a friend of my DH. he ask if DH was there and I said sure "o.k Honey I will get him". Thought that maybe he didn't hear me but he told Dh that I could call him "Honey" any time that I wanted too. :rotfl2: That made my day.

My boss has done it to me one time. first time she did it she ended the call with "o.k. love you bye" and I of course had to reply - "why I love you too. didn't know you cared so much." She was embarassed but chuckled. No she catches herself mid "love you" and just laughs. I guess I remind her of her daughter or something.

This one is not AS bad as some of the others, but my fiance and I call each other Baybuh instead of baby (it stems from when I taught preschool and a little boy in my class LOVED when Britney Spears remade that song that says 'put another dime in the jukebox baby.' However, he always said baybuh instead and we thought it was cute and it just kinda stuck.)

It's not something we say out in public or around our families/friends a lot because we know it sounds odd ;) Anyway, my fiance was talking to his mom one day on the phone and when he was hanging up he said 'bye baybuh.' I thought I was seriously going to die I was laughing so hard. He didn't even realize what he did at first and then he looked me and said 'did I just call my mom baybuh?' :lmao: :lmao:

I did it to a guy that worked for me. He just laughed and said "I love you too!". I was so embarrassed.

My dd called her 3rd grade teacher "Mom" last week. I asked her if it was because her teacher was yelling at her :-)

(yes, I stole the response from Everybody Loves Raymond!).

Yep, I get called Mom a lot at school, too!

A few light years ago I worked answered the phones at a local radio station and would come home and half the time answer our phone with Good Morning WGCA can I help you?
DUH

My DH always calls me honey. I've heard him call quite a few customers honey. He's not choosey. He calls both men & women that. I always wonder what they're thinking on the other end of the line. :rotfl:

I work as a RN on a L&D unit. When going off shift we all say goodbye to each other personally... including the docs. Sooo many times I almost told one of the physicians, "Have a great day! Love ya, Bye!" :rotfl:

And at home I nearly answer the phone, "Women's Health this is Jenn"

Once on a very busy night at work, I answered the phone, "Women's Health" there was a long pause then an incredulous male voice said, "Women's HELL?!" I so wanted to say, "Yeah, for this woman it is right now!"

I teach and I get called mommy all the time. The moms tell me they get called my name all the time. :)

Where I used to work, anyone would answer the phone if they weren't busy. We'd answer the phone by saying the name of the business then "May I help you?" We were talking about this very subject one day when one of the women picked up the phone and said, "Hello. Name of Business. May I love you?" :o Oh my gosh, we all roared laughing as quietly as we could. She had to put the poor person on hold because she couldn't keep it together either. :teeth:
