There's no monetary deposit required when you make your ressies! I just booked 11/22-11/25/03, but I don't even know yet if my school's calendar allows that time off as it did this year (if not I'll probably go after Christmas). But it didn't cost me anything to make ressies "just in case". I love that part-anyone else? So now I have 3 DVC ressies-HH for March, OKW for May, and now VWL (at 7 mos, I hope it's BCV) for November. Now let's hope Osborne Lights has another AP preview next year. Nothing like planning ahead!

What's even better - when you checkout you don't have to go home to a big room bill!

Whenever I start worrying that I have just wasted a bunch of money on DVC, I read posts like this to make me realize that I am a wise woman.

Thanks.

I love the fact that there's no HUGE room bill to pay when it's all said and done. That makes me smile every time. :) And, I do love that I don't have to put down a deposit when I make my calls, too. :teeth:

And on top of what's already been posted, I really love not having to keep checking back to see if a discount/better rate became available!

I did not realize how wonderful the "no big bill at check-out" was until our first DVC stay at Hilton Head last month. We did not make any calls from the room or make any other charges and I was worried that there was no bill under our door when we were ready to check out so I called the front desk and they told me I had no "bill"! That was wonderful.

Also, my sister and her husband loved Hilton Head when we treated them to a one bedroom last month and they wanted to go back again this September. When I explained to my sister the villa would cost them $215 per night plus tax, she changed her mind and said November or December would be just fine when the rate is cheaper. Owning DVC makes our Disney stays so much more affordable with a monthly payment than if we had to come up with that money all at once. I just love my DVC!

It looks like we have a lot in common. We are going to HH in March and OKW in Nov. We also have a Tim in our family and he graduates from USC in July with his MBA. When are you going in March and Nov? I know what you mean about the ease of reservations. We just made ours for Nov yesterday. They are so nice and informative at DVC. We want to do the illumination cruise and she gave us so much info. Nothing more exciting than confirming our next trip "HOME".

Merilyn, we go to HH March 9-13, but without Tim. We're celebrating his graduation from Texas A&M at Kingsville May 25-31. November is a solo trip, hopefully to see the Osborne Lights AP Preview (I'm the only APholder in the family-the only Disney fanatic).

Our first trip as DVC members is in March (2 nights at HH and 3 nights at BCV). So we were wondering what happened at check out time. Do they slip a bill under the door (even if the balance is zero), or do you go to the the desk and just let them know you are checking out?
Thanks,
DJ

If it works the same way as it does at BWV, you can just leave. No need to stop at the front desk unless you see a problem on your bill. We do call Housekeeping just before we leave so that they can begin cleaning for the next guests.

We were at VWL early Dec. 1st trip home. When you check in you can have them scan a credit card or Check card. If you have calls they charge direct to your card and you dont have to go back to checkout. Also this little perk allows you to charge anything else in WDW to your room key which is tied in with your credit card also.

I have to agree also, and...... the rooms are larger than any hotel rooms I've stayed in!

I never realized the "worth" of DVC and thought that maybe we made a big mistake buying in until we went to go book for our cruise. We were short some points and had to go through the hard process of coming up with the money for a 3rd person (my dd). When we realized this dh and I were talking about the money aspects of it. So one of us suggested to the other why not buy add on points if we can. They were almost equal in value and what better way to spend money - XXXX amount for a one time cruise or about the same amount (maybe about 200 more) for more points that we will be able to use for the next 40 years!!!!! So what way would you have gone???? I just had never looked at it that way before. It's funny until you actually set things up next to each other and compare.

:( Simba's Mom; Sorry to be the only fly in the ointment, but if you change any of these ressie's when you find out you can't go at a certain time, you have to then deal with the dreaded "banking and borrowing" monster if you cancel or change to soon to your use year or arrival date. We ran into that once or twice. Otherwise, I agree with everyone else!:D
