Love the 80's!

What about doing the Time Warp on skates?
The Time Warp? I don't remember that one, but maybe we called it something else. I just need a refresher.

Funny story, a couple of weeks ago, my dd15 went on a school field trip. The destination was a surprise, and they went to the skating rink! I was like, "The skating rink is still open?" I thought the place must have closed years ago.

We took the cuffs out of our jeans and exchanged them for Hammer pants. :woohoo:

OMG, you know what?? I was going to put in my post that the only memorable thing I could think of was MC Hammer pants. But that was such a short lived craze, I wasn't sure anyone else would remember it.

You totally read my mind!! Us Losers are always on the same wavelength!

Speaking of the big hair...well, I still have semi-big hair, but that's not what I'm going to post about...

One of my friends had seriously HUGE hair. We once measured it and it stood 9" tall. Then of course she had to balance it out - she looked like Chaka Khan. She went through a can of hairspray a week, so she is probably solely responsible for the hole in the ozone layer. And all that hairspray made her hair springy - we used to through pens at her and watch them literally bounce off her hair!

The Time Warp? I don't remember that one, but maybe we called it something else. I just need a refresher.

From the Rocky Horror Picture show. I spent just about every weekend of my Junior and Senior years of high school at that movie. Ahhhh, memories. :lovestruc

The 90's were nowhere near as memorable.

We took the cuffs out of our pants. We put the Aqua Net in the trash. We started wearing more "natural" looking make up.

and flat hair, what is up with that.

A couple of years ago I went to a salon that DH had won a gift certificate to at a golf outing, the only reason I decided to give it a try. Well this snot nose hairstylist who could have been more than 22, starts looking at my hair and commenting on how 80s it was. Really ok so I say go ahead cut and color it. It was the worst color and cut of my life. Dh and my firends were like WTH?

I ran back to my old stylist who btw is 40 and who wants to be a Bon Jovi groupie. I am much happier!

I really wanna see a pic of your hair!

you saw me in LL but it was pulled back. I dont do it puffy anymore but I just feel you need some volume KWIM. Although it has been flatter than it has ever been lately.

Well, you have to admit--at least the 80's were fun, different and interesting. I am not sure that the kids today get to experience some of that since it would no longer be "PC"--oh, and they probably have better taste in clothes! :lmao:

15. You have ever pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf.

Ahem, I think this should be changed to "You KNOW why Smurfette was the only female smurf."

Doesn't everybody know that Gargomel created her to lure all the smurfs to his place and that the smurfs were able to turn her good? ;)

OK, someone remind me of the MASH game. As soon as I read it, I knew a memory was there, but it seems so tucked away that I can't grasp it. Can anyone help me here?

Never mind! I found it online & it's all coming back to me now. No wonder I had blocked it out!

Anyways...for those of you that want to try it, here's the link!

Sorry, I'm editing this again. Just in case you're interested...
I am a doctor living in a shack in Oklahoma. I am married to Kirk Cameron (hey, this is the 80s!) and we have two children. I drive a black ferrari. (I'm thinking this may be the reason for the shack!)

Truthfully though, I do have two complete sets of the Growing Pains trading cards. Wonder if my MASH DH would autograph them for ebay! :)

Class of '89 here.

What about parachute pants. You just had to have them in every color.

Relax T-shirts....all the cool kids had them.

All the metal heads with their demin jacket and iron on Metallica patches....wait, they still do that.

Wondering if Boy George was a boy or a girl...

Members Only jackets (only had the knockoff versions; never the real thing)

Michael Jackson jackets with all the zippers (never had one but wanted one!)

Smurfette being the only female smurf: I've heard more guttery versions of this than the real version.....:lmao:

Never had puffy, large hair. Kinda hard to do with straight Indian hair that does NOTHING but lay flat.

Sometimes still roll the cuffs of jeans that are too long... I wear loose-fitting jeans.

Still like wearing shirts that are larger than I really need (but being a larger-sized female, hard to find tshirts that meet criteria)

Hate the form-fitting shirts and bell-bottom pants out now. Prefer shopping in the "hip-hop" shops instead in the men's dept. :thumbsup2

Never saw the Karate Kid until a couple years ago. Goonies, I saw when I was a kid. We were only allowed to see PG movies the 'rents wanted to see too. That's how I became a Trekkie and a Star Wars nut. :cool1:

Still like Bon Jovi. I went from "I Hate Rock and Roll" to "I Love Rock and Roll" and other music too. Music was the escape for me.

Class of '88 here.

Class of '85. When did our music become "classic"?? It's now on the oldies station.:scared1: Seriously tho-how bout "Square Pegs", "Solid Gold", "Ferris Bueller". Good stuff. Good stuff.:cool1:
Excuse me while I go "Wear my Sunglasses at Night".

OK! I was 12 in 1984! Saint Maria Goretti Class of 90!

What about Hop Scotch? Dodge Ball? Chinese Jump rope? Boy George? Cyndi Lauper? Madonna? Knock knock runaway!( boy we would probably get shot if we played that now!) Shirt tales was my all time favorite cartoon then don't forget Magilla Gorilla! How about Punky Brewster? Facts of Life? The Love Boat? Circle chants and games numerous ones too many to list! God I could go on foreva! LOL! :rotfl2:I must say if you think about it the 80's were a very memorable time!

I wish with all my heart that I could have lived in the 80's.

I mean.. Queen was alive and well. And it was just......awesome.

90's were horrible, mostly because Freddie Mercury died.

I just remembered what I forgot before! For those of you that are from Philadelphia or anywhere that may have watched Dancin On Air!!! OMG! They were even down here at The Shore! LOL!
Menudo before Ricky Martin was known as Ricky Martin!

OK, I have to be a bit nit-picky:

I am pretty sure it is "psyche" not sike.

Until they added Sassette.

Or Ricky Schroder! [I was 10 in 1984, so I think Doogie was a little young for me as far as a crush goes. ANd he always looked so much younger than his actual age - it was that tiny smooshed face, I think].

Isn't it "You Give Love a Bad Name" and not "Shot Through the Heart"?

Thanks for the memories!!!!!!!

Just a little input I'm thinking the word psyche was intentionally spelled wrong , I don't know about anyone else but when we were kids that is exactly how we spelled sike a.k.a the correct way psyche! LOL! And we also use to call You give love a bad name:" Shot through the Heart " because it was the line everyone knew it by! So that's why I'm assuming these 2 were spelled or said this way . The others I'm not really sure right now! Maybe it was just us City Slickers that did it that way! LOL! :lmao:I'm definitely serious this is bringing back some memories! the above mentioned were two that came back to me as I'm looking over this thread!
