Love the 80's!

Or too wide (mall hair). Or have enough Aqua Net. :cool1:

OMG this is soooo true! I remember going to the boardwalk (not Disney's boardwalk, the boardwalk at the beach in South Jersey) and making sure that my hair would NOT move. I think we put the hole in the ozone layer.

Not only did I graduate HS in 1987, but I grew up in NJ. So, we had the big hair down to a science!

You know you are a child of the 80s if the phrases "ladies choice" or "all skate" mean anything to you.

The higher the hair the closer to Heaven (this was how the Catholic school girls justified the big dos:lmao:)

We also wore nautical blue eyeliner and 528 Wet and Wild lipstick (now who the heck buys lipstick by a number:eek: )

I remember wearing stonewashed jeans, and the small rocks would still be in the pockets after a few washings.

I LOVE BIG 80'S HAIR!!!

I love the 80's, I graduated high school in 1989 and our class thought it was so cool to be the last graduating class of the 80's, how corny is that. I love when the radio has all 80's songs playing, I never get tired of listening to the songs they play and still know all the words to just about every song. Ahhhh the good ole days, good times they were.

Another class of 89'er here! How depressing our 20 year is next year. :sad2:

But I do not know all the words to Shot through the Heart or any other music like that. I was totally new wave, totally. Anyone else remember the show that came from? :rotfl2:

86 grad here! I thought I was completely done with the 80s, and that I could put that era out of my mind. That was until my daughter's started dancing. This is my 6yo ready to perform her jazz dance to Girls Just Wanna Have Fun:

Mgirls.jpg

The teacher killed me when she said high pony, crimped. :rotfl: Fortunately one of the other dance mom's is better with hair than I am!

Isn't it "You Give Love a Bad Name" and not "Shot Through the Heart"?

Thanks for the memories!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm so glad you mentioned this b/c as a huge Bon Jovi fan this has always bugged me. Shot Through the Heart is the name of a song on their first album, totally different song than You Give Love a Bad Name.

Sorry, just had to say it.

Oooh! Don't forget about Love's Baby Soft perfume. That mixed with the aroma of the Aqua Net--that smells like the 80's, baby! :lmao:

Class of 88 here. 20 year reunion is scheduled for Oct. I am pretty sure that is a mistake since I am still in my 20's, right??:upsidedow

You know you are a child of the 80s if the phrases "ladies choice" or "all skate" mean anything to you.

What about doing the Time Warp on skates?

or the 80's movies? Valley Girl was my favorite. Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, etc.- I still love those movies.

What about Coty Wild Musk? I thought I was so hot wearing that perfume in high school.

I was so bummed recently when my 16 year old neighbor girl called me and asked for help dressing up for "80's Day" at school!

Me: 80's day? You mean, like 50's day?

Her: Yes, but for the EIGHTIES!

ACK! :rotfl:

I thought she looked super cute in her oversize sweatshirt (belted at the waist, of course), leggins, neon pink socks, flats and side ponytail. Not to mention the big plastic earrings, necklace and tons of bangle bracelets. She thought she looked like an idiot and kept threatening to change her clothes if none of her friends dressed up as well!!

When did MY era become a dress up day for school?? That is just not right!

I remember jr high. I had a long hot pink sweatshirt (that fit like a dress) that I belted at the wait and I wore it with purple leg warmers!!
I really shouldn't admit that....

I wore leopard print leggins, and I was the "kewlest" girl in school that day! :thumbsup2

OK, I have to be a bit nit-picky:

I am pretty sure it is "psyche" not sike.

Until they added Sassette.

Or Ricky Schroder! [I was 10 in 1984, so I think Doogie was a little young for me as far as a crush goes. ANd he always looked so much younger than his actual age - it was that tiny smooshed face, I think].

Isn't it "You Give Love a Bad Name" and not "Shot Through the Heart"?

Sorry about that! It was an email sent to me and I thought it was cute and posted it here!

The 90's were nowhere near as memorable.

We took the cuffs out of our pants. We put the Aqua Net in the trash. We started wearing more "natural" looking make up.

That's great! Oh, the memories! :)

I was born in 1974, and I graduated in 1992. My older sister graduated in '89, and I remember her having t-shirts that made a big deal out of being the last graduating class of the '80's.

My hair was so big in my 9th grade yearbook pic that it is cut off on the top of the pic. :lmao: Our school did have a rule though about your hair could only be so tall and the principal would walk around with a ruler randomly measuring the height of girls' hair.

You know what was even better than Saturay morning cartoons? American Bandstand came out at noon right after the Storybook Special. My sister and I used to love watching it.

And the Storybook Specials! Who remembers Christian Slater being in the one called "Million Dollar Mansion"? That one got shown alot, and I remember it so well.

My crush was Ricky Schroder until I saw Michael J. Fox in Back To The Future when I was 11. :lovestruc I used to trade all my Kirk Cameron Tiger Beat pin-ups with my sister for her Michael J. Fox ones. :lmao:

We took the cuffs out of our jeans and exchanged them for Hammer pants. :woohoo:
