LOVE or HATE FP+ Anyone's mind been changed ??

Ah yes, another wait till prediction. Surely one of these days, one of them will prove to be true.

For clarification on that 1 minute late- before that story gets turned into people being turned away for being a minute late to SDMT- It was for a show, not a ride attraction. Shows have specific seating availability. When you choose to show up late, you risk not having a seat. If the theatre is full, it's full. No story there except the person had the bad luck to be the person arriving after the last seat was filled.

Ah yes, another comment presented authoritatively as fact...........except that's not what they were told.

That poster stated they were specifically told:

...We arrived at the FP+ entrance to Mermaid with about five families in front of us. They let the five families go, and when they got to us, the pulled the rope closed and said we were one minute late for our FP+ and that we could not come in. I thought they were joking at first, and I said something like "Well we almost made it" as a joke, thinking that the CM was just messing with us. She then repeated that we could use the FP+ for the next show, but we would not be able to attend this showing. I asked her if she was serious and she said that we had missed our time. I told her we were in line and that the other five families were let in, but she said we arrived to the line later than our time...one minute late...I kid you not...one minute late.......

You are assuming all the seats were filled. And we all know what that means.........

You haven't actually visited since fp+ began? This is all predicated on no actual experience with the system?
Correct. I can read data and develop a conclusion like anyone else. I know what it takes for the planning process. Which I don't like. I have read actual data from sources stating longer waits. I know what they are too. I am smart enough to understand what is going on with out experiencing it. I have never actually got hit in the head with a ball bat, but I am quite sure I know I won't like it.

I have been turned away at the Lion King show. I was late. Oh well. As for the original post of liking FP+, I'm lovin it. We are seniors and go to breakfast. lunch and dinner. Its a vacation. not a marathon, although I've run a few of those. I like knowing I'm set for what I want. I can time things out and we tend to go at slow times and a lot of rides are/attractions are available with a very reasonable wait. And when we go with our grandkids, they would really rather spend time going down water slides that waiting in lines as well.

And when you assume.............

Lake you found the clip I have been looking to add for weeks, Thanks for the laugh!

You do agree this wasn't a ride, correct? You do know shows have limited seating and that being late can well cause you to not be allowed in- even if it's a minute, correct? But sure, the logical assumption here is that the CM just likes making guests angry and for no reason at all wouldn't let them in- even though the standby line was closed at that point.

What you seen to want to do is leave the impression that folks are being turned away for no other reason than they were a minute late. I simply want to make it clear that this was not a ride so there's more than likely a good explanation for them being turned down. And as far as I know, is not something that anyone else is currently experiencing save for 1 person who said the same thing happened to them at the same exact show- further leading one to believe that perhaps it's the nature of the attraction that causes the issue.

Had the OP returned to the thread, they might have been able to give more information.

Interesting. I was under the impression that you'd gone, for how vehemently you're arguing against. Initially I thought I wouldn't like it. I knew FP- too well. It works out better than you think, especially when you consider the big picture of the time saved pulling tickets or crossing the park before. Really. I have no problem getting on lots of things, all day long. Now that you've heard other opinions, I take it you no longer believe "everything I have read" indicates you will get on less. Be open minded, scrap the old way of doing things, and enjoy. Disney World - right? Think fun not stressful.

The planning process is not that bad. You pick 3 rides. Over 3 days, that's 9 rides. I'd say it takes more effort to plan a dinner to cook than to plan some FP+'s. The site is a little awkward in some ways, but if you're techy at all you should be able to circumvent these.

You do agree this wasn't a ride, correct?

It doesn't matter. I never made reference to a ride or an attraction, just that someone was complaining about being turned away because they were one minute late.

I really thought I would intensely dislike FP+ and complained rather loudly when I first found out details when we were planning our trip last summer. I went anyway, found out it's not the horror I had read about and that indeed it did work. There's nothing like first hand experience.

If you are convinced you won't like it, and no suggestions to alleviate some of your problems will work for you, why go? It's unfortunate, but you're left no choice. It would sound from your previous posts that your complaint is you're having to go less frequently due to price increases. Why go at all? It's a question that isn't meant to insult, but to figure out why someone would spend what it costs to go somewhere they liken to being hit over the head with a bat.

I know you didn't make reference to what the attraction was. That's exactly why I did. It's important to know this was not a ride attraction and different rules apply.

Absolutely they complained they were turned away for being 1 minute late- which would seem from other people, not to be unheard of for a show and would've happened with paper fp as well.

But a complaint is, nonetheless, a complaint. I'm not arguing the legitimacy of the complaint or the underlying cause of the complaint.

My point, and one that flicx has been trying to make as well, is that the more someone pays the higher their expectations are. And once again, I'm stating that if people are grumbling about those types of things now the grumbling will only get louder when they've paid more for the experience.

Case in point: Pete on a recent podcast chose to connect the increased cost of admission to filthy bathrooms. Even I was surprised to hear that.

"Cool aid drinkers"

There are people that dislike FP, people that love it and People who could care less either way (which I think is the actual majority).

After reading threads on trip advisor on the things to do in Orlando( we have newbie friends going down and this is how I got to spend my Sat. night....lol) I think you can add to this that the "majority" also still doesn't know/understand how fp+ works. Interestingly one of the complaints of FP- was that most/many didn't get it. I was amazed to see how many don't get fp+. Comments like "you can book 3 in advance and only 1 more at the huge lines at the kiosk" , "onsite gets 30 days in advance and offsite at the park", or people who thought that it was a pay system etc. etc. etc. I would say that somewhere around 25% or more had something explained in error. Some loved, more hated but what stood out were the misconceptions and that imho is a real problem for Disney. In reality it is one thing to like/dislike something when you understand it but it was clear that there were so many who didn't get it at all (and by that I mean were flat out wrong in terms of how to use the system). I get that Disney is sending out emails to onsite visitors but the material is not working because the comments were both from on and offsite. I know this is not directly on point but just some interesting food for the fodder no matter which side of the love/hate relationship you're on.

A complaint that has no validity is a sign of nothing. People can make unreasonable complaints all they want- always have here on the Dis. It never gets them anywhere.

Be sure and tell that to the person complaining, I'm sure it will make them feel a whole lot better.

But then there are the people they are complaining to who you won't be around to educate them as to the validity of the complaint. Not sure how you are going to address them.

Great point. FP+ is a little more advanced than walking up to a machine, inserting your media, and collecting a piece of paper.

The educational costs must be tremendous. And as Jimmy pointed out, that cost will never go away if we are really reverting back to the mean and the larger number of WDW guests are first timers. It's a system that requires a constant training cycle and can never be flawless. Yet misconceptions will abound and spread - as you pointed out - further increasing educational efforts.

I don't really care if they feel better. If you have a legitimate gripe, go to guest services and complain. I've never failed to have any problems taken care of in short order. Not once have I left thinking they didn't handle it properly. In this particular instance, the person complained that the CM was smug and took pleasure in turning them away. If I had gotten that feeling, I would've been at guest services in a heartbeat.

For LT perhaps not...for US it is pretty darn close.

Then WDW is truly a waste of your money if all you're interested in is the 3fp+ attractions you reserve. Unless of course you're satisfied with that- because that's all that is required- that you're happy with what you get. I wouldn't be, but that's me and of course I know there is much more to do that I enjoy than ride 3 headliners.

I'm not sure why you aren't getting the point. It's not whether the complaint has any basis, it's that there is a complaint. Like Luckybee pointed out above in regards to misunderstandings and misconceptions, many people who read or hear those misconceptions or complaints don't know they are false or lacking validity.

You do not have to experience it to understand what it takes to use it. Fuzzy still perpetuating the running all over the park to pull passes thing? I totally understand the system, I've read' looked into and studied the whole process. I see it as bad for my experience. Not good. Glad it works for you. Cake I did not liken being at Disney to being hit in the head with a bat. Best read that again. I was simply stating I can read and gather data as to what is occurring with out experiencing it!
