Love DDP...can we add it later?

We just returned this weekend from Disney with free dining. We loved it. So much that we will probably pay for it on our December trip. My question is, do we have to add the dining on right now or can we wait a month or so before adding it. Our final payment is due the end of October and I would like to add it later in November. Is this possible?

Possible, but not necessarily assured. If you're not on a DVC reservation, you can only add the Dining Plan to a qualifying vacation package, which includes hotel accommodations (with either no discount applied, or with one of some specific, smaller discounts applied), and admission purchase for your entire party. You do need to add it before you arrive, but moreover, you either have to be visiting on one of those qualifying vacation packages or there needs to be availability for one of those qualifying vacation packages at the time you call in to "add the Dining Plan".

Is your reservation is at rack rate? You can add it days before your trip. You'll be purchasing a package so you'll also have to add at least a one day base ticket.

This won't work if you have a discounted room rate or if you booked through a AAA TA. Wait too long and there won't be any more discounted rooms available for packages and your room rate will become rack rate.

This is what disney hopes for and it is how they hooked us too. We did the free ddp last September and have been hooked ever since and now that DVC members can add it to their reservations, we are set. We leave next weekend and it will be the 4th time this year we've done the DDP. We are much better about it now and are more relaxed than in the past. It's a great deal and a real value for us.
