I heard that their season is August-September??
Is anyone a yearly late summer goer that can tell me how bad its going to be right before Labor Day??

We where there last September at the last half of the month. The love bugs where still there but not bad. They where mostly on the floors (outside) the resort. They didn't land on us or bite they where just there.

Don't know if that helps.

We were there last May and they were out in force. Came home with plenty of bites on my legs but not sure from what. This year I'm going to pack bug repellant.

Love bugs are all over in Florida pretty much all spring and summer. They do not bite or do anything else annoying. Maybe I am just used to them, but all they do is just fly around and hook to each other's butts.

Ok. What does a love bug look like?
If they don't bite, why are they annoying?
Or do they bite?

How do we keep them away--are they like mosquitoes?

what exactly are love bugs?

what do they look like, and is there some consensus on whether or not they bite?

are they out during the day, or in the evening?

thanks!

In the 80's, we vacationed Labor Day week every year. We always encountered love bugs outside of WDW, but never inside WDW. I just thought that they sprayed heavily.

Do you now encounter the bugs inside of WDW?

They were everywhere in AK in March 2004, but saw them no where else there. None at the other parks or the resort.

Love bugs are flying black bugs with little orange heads, They're about 1/4 inch long. They're called Love Bugs because they're constantly mating. When you see 2 of them hooked together, guess what they're up to.

They don't bite, but they're he!! on a car's paint job. Here's a link for more information on them, including a picture. http://www.floridaenvironment.com/programs/fe00508.htm

Love bugs aren't interested in people. Snopes.com says that love bugs neither bite nor sting. They are really just a nuisance. Really a pain to wash off your car. No bug repellant needed.
