I asked this question before but didn't get a response.

I know the love bugs come out in Sept. Last time I was there in sept it was the week after memorial and there really weren't any.

What weeks do they generally get bad? I want to avoid being there at that time. I am REALLY not a fan of swarms. :headache:

Hi,

From the University of Florida IFAS Extension website:

Two flights of lovebugs occur each year. The spring flight occurs during late April and May. A second flight occurs during late August and September. Flights extend over periods of 4 to 5 weeks. Mating takes place almost immediately after emergence of the females. Adult females live only 2-3 days.

aw man so I lucked out with the labor day week thing last time. Maybe I need to delay my trip again. I had ONE love bug trip and.. NEVER AGAIN!

We've been to WDW many times in August (usually no later than about the 24th) and have never seen them.

We've been to WDW a few times in late September and we always see them.

We usually go the last week of Sept and they are out.
This past year, we went the 3rd week of Oct and
no nasty little creepy crawlies:yay:

We went to Disney for the beginning of the F&W Festival last year and arrived September 28th...lots of love bugs, although strangely enough they just seemed to swarm at all the park entrance gates, then nothing. By the end of our stay (we left October 7th) we didn't see any at all. To us they really weren't bad by any stretch.

I'm with you. We went in mid sept last year and never again will I go in September just because of the bugs.

I knew about the love bugs being there in the fall but didn't know about the spring. We will be there May 9th - 19th - celebrating my grandson's final chemo treatment (last treatment starts today). So how bad will they be while we are there????

We went Sept 23, 2006 through October 4, 2006 for our honeymoon, and again Sept 8, 2007 through Sept 13, 2007 for our anniversary. The first trip there were a lot of love bugs. They only swarmed around the door at our room. (We had a room close to the pool area.) They weren't bad any where else during our trip and were gone in the first few days of our trip. The second trip we didn' t really notice any. They really weren't a bother.

I never heard of love bugs before going to WDW for our first time this past September. This picture was taken on September 28th. We are going to be back in Disney the first week of June. I REALLY HOPE we miss them!

OOOOOH see THIS is why I"m worried about not missing them... eeeeeeeew HATE!!!!

Thanks for posting this pic and proving my point;)

:lmao: I will say this, we were at the AKL with a Savannah view on the first floor. So im not sure if that made the situation worse. Plus this picture was taken on day 7, so they had some time to build up! I also agree with Keep Moving Forward that DW and I NEVER saw any in the parks. Just at the resort and on the busses!

Holy Moly...I have never seen them (THANK GOD) in 4 September trips. I think they show up later in the month. We go at the beginning.

We left WDW late on Sat 9/10/07 and never seen one our entire trip. We are there this year 9/14/08 through 9/27/08. I have a feeling we will get to see our first Love Bugs! :scared1: At least they do not sting or bite! :goodvibes

Wishing your Grandson good health,
and all, a great trip,
with no bugs.
