lots of questions?
well here goes
1. does the rainforest cafe at AK shut when AK shuts (6pm)?
2. if the answer is no what time does it shut?
3.if you go after the park closes do you have to pay in the carpark?
4. can you go to WDW resorts in evening to look round or have a drink if not staying on site?(eg poly, FWL, floridian)
5.if yes how do you get past security?( we had to show room key when staying at ASsport to drive into the resort)
6. have any of the disney hotels have nice resturants that wont need PS in july?
7. have booked fantasmic DP. two shows on that night do we have a choice what one we have prioty seating at?

Hopefully I can help with some

1) No it stays open after the park closes.
2) Opening hours do vary so it's best to check nearer the time with the restaurant.
3) (not 100% on this one) I think you are in theory still expected to pay the carpark fee BUT I've usually found the booths were not manned the last couple of hours the park is open.
4)Yes
5) Just tell the guard youve come to check out the resort. the Poly and GF will sometimes have some time restrictions on parking (during park hours) because of abuse by guests leaving their cars all day in their car parks. In the evenings you should have no problems. Again I have been charged the "regular" parking fee as you have to usually go through the toll booths, but this was refunded on the restaurant/bar bills at the hotels.
6) Yes, almost all of them, but they are all "first come" basis so you can be faced with a wait at times. I've previously eaten at Boatwrights and Bonfamilles at PO, the Mexican at Coronado, the Mexican in the swan/dolphin, Cape May Cafe at Y+B club and Olivia's at OKW. All were reasonable places to eat, although over the last couple of years I thought they were comparatively pricey when compared with similar quality restaurants available a short drive off site. Another option are the hotels of DTD, the Hilton has an excellent Japanese Tepanyaki restaurant ( Benehana's) and one of the hotels has a great steak house called "the Outback" (nothing to do with the perfectly adiquate "Outback steakhouse" chain).
7) don't know about that one.

The answer to question 7 is yes, you do get the choice of which show you want to attend. The later one is usually considerably quieter.

many thanks vernon and allie
heres another one you may be able to answer
tea at the grand floridain can you just turn up or do you have to make resivations? and is it very posh would you be ok going in straight from the park wearing t-shirt and shorts?
this is something that really takes my fancy and would love to do it although DH and teenage DSs may need some persuading

We've found that to drive to a resort to look around you need some sort of id if you are not staying on disney. We took DD to ASMu (as that is where she was conceived) when we were staying off site & that was the only criteria. I know at some resorts you get a time limit to stop you using their parking instead of the parks car parks

We did the Grand Floridian breakfast and that certainly wasnt formal!! I think the only restaurant at the GF that requires any "dressing up" is Victoria & Alberts.
