Hi All!
I have seen a lot of people asking whether an Escape wedding is worth it, if you are treated "2nd class", etc. Very briefly, I will share my story so far...
My fiance and I started small and the wedding at Disney kind of grew. We have a lot of friends that wanted to come. We booked an Escape wedding for May 18th. We started planning and Yuri even surprised me for Christmas by getting me Cinderella's Coach!!!!!
We pared our list down to just family and very close friends, created a menu for the Attic (buffet), etc. I ordered invitations. Then... my fiance's mom passed away (2 months ago on the 26th). Expected (not that soon), but still devastating.
I delayed sending invites for a week or so. As far as I knew, everyone was coming... Well, we are now a total party of 7 for the dessert party, wedding and reception lunch! We were going to be 12-18, but I had to make my son move out of the house (another story), and some of our original guests simply could not afford to come even though they said they could.
I am completely understand the financial situation - especially in this economy. Just disappointed.
The kink comes in that our venue for the DP is 10-20 people, and the minimum for a lunch reception at the Attic is $1,000.
You would THINK that our Wedding Coordinator would be upset, cancel stuff, etc. I have Danny Rogerson, and he has been absolutely amazing! IF you book a wedding and get Danny, consider yourself lucky - I mean it!
Danny took over when my original planner moved to Wishes weddings. I cannot say enough good things about him. He has been extraordinarily helpful regarding my gluten issues and is making sure I will have gluten free items at every event - including our wedding cake.
I will have my own little cake that will look like the top of the 2 tier cake!
Regarding the 7 people issue, Danny has booked Bonsai Terrace to move us from Canada Overlook to save us money on the dessert party (the fee is less and the minimum as well). I am not certain of the view, but it looks pretty good. He was trying to find alternative to the Attic for our reception, but I really prefer the Attic because of the views and the venue itself. Captain's Grille would be an option but I don't like the lunch menu. So anyway, because our menu is $78 pp, he is checking to see if we can still do it there but the buffet would be more pp (volume issue). I told him we could be creative and buy more wine (you can take uncorked bottles with you) and Yuri and I could use them the rest of our honeymoon.
He has been so accommodating. I really can't speak for anyone else's experiences, but I am very happy with Danny! The wedding experience for me, so far, has been wonderful!
