actually I found that theory on a different message board, I didn't see that one on ABC's..... did you read the one about claire's dream and the thing about locke ??
Yes, and I still refuse to believe Locke is bad!!

What message board are you reading?

I'm guessing the 48 doesn't include the guy that was sucked into the engine. No one would have been able to count everyone that early on. Also, I don't think anyone else knows about the pilot--just Jack, Kate and Charlie. So he wouldn't be counted in the 48 either. So, that leaves....

the woman who drowned
the Marshall
Scott ??? killed by Ethan
Ethan--wouldn't he have been counted in the original count?

that takes us down to 44 and we know at least one more person is going to die so that's at 43, just one # off from 42.
I'm not sure Ethan would be counted since he was not a survivor of the crash. I'm thinking if we had 48 survivors and we're going to get to 42, Ethan couldn't be counted as one of them. If you count who was alive after the crash and who is alive now, they guy sucked into the plane could be counted as one of them. Still doesn't address what happens when Claire has her baby. Is he considered a survivor?

I'm not getting the significance of 108 :confused3 as it related to the show.
I was looking at this statement:
108 represents the whole of existence.

Then it goes on to list examples of why it is. With all of the theories regarding why they are there (purgatory, resolving past issues, fresh start, the numbers brought them there, they're all connected in some way, etc.) the whole show is about their existence.

I don't know anything about astrology and/or numerology, but from dozens of posts I've read on other boards by people who did (claim to) have knowledge, the numbers (42 and 108 in particular) have historically had significant meaning regarding life and existence.

I'm posting interesting things I read on other sites here to see if any of you have ideas as to how they can be connected.

Also, who knows about the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy? Who can give an overview of what it says?

Ok, Im going to jump in here. Im thrilled to see Im not the only one totally addicted to this show!!!
Now...as far as trying to figure out who dies... I have a thought (or a ramble ;) )...

Early on, Jack was looking for his fathers coffin, and he found it...empty. Now, this island has done some strange things to people (locke for example) is it possible that his dad is not actually dead??? Maybe he is with the 'others' and its Jack's dad who betrays Jack???? I think a father son betrayal could fall into the "ultimate" category....

Also, when we were getting background on Walt, they hinted at the fact that he was "special"..in a creepy sense...maybe he and Michael are involved in the whole betrayal thing.... Are we sure its not Michael who dies??? :sad2:

Well, he was pretending to be a survivor, but we don't really know when he came around do we. So I think it's quite possible that he was counted in the original 48. When Hurley was doing the "census" it was found out that Ethan didn't belong, were they still saying "48 survivors" after the census? Of course, I believe that was after the girl drowned and the marshall died.

And I'm sure they didn't count anyone until well after the crash, there's no way the "engine guy" was included in the census. What about people who may have died on the beach? I think we need to assume the 48 people came from those still surviving the next day, after the crash (or whenever it was they counted people). And we don't know if Ethan was there at that time or not.

And thanks for the clarification on the # 108.

Anyone going to play these #'s in the Lotto this week?

I'm trying to talk my mom into using them for lotto if that counts

Oh I missed last nite's show (fell asleep, and my DH forgot to wake me up  ) I think with the spoilers and recaps here, I have enough to piece together what happened lastnight! Thanks! I hope they rerun this episode soon!

It was after the girl drowned and there were 46 people but Ethan was not on the list so 45 folks who survived the wreck. (Checked this last night in the transcript of the episode - Raised by Another where Claire and Charlie were kidnapped.)

You've joined the right thread if you want to be around people who are classified as addicted!

I don't think anyone has a good guess who's going to die. After reading Kristen's latest spoiler and watching Hurley's episode last night, I don't think it's Hurley anymore. I feel he's probably going to have a bigger role as these numbers play out.

I thought about this today, and I don't know if there is any significance to what I'm posting, but let's think about the men and their flashback episodes.

Those who have already had 3 flashback episodes:
Jack (pilot 1 episode, White Rabbit, and All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues)
Charlie (pilot 2 episode, The Moth, Homecoming)

Those who have already had 2 flasback episodes:
Sawyer (Confidence Man, Outlaws)

Those who have only had 1 flashback episode:
Locke (Walkabout)
Sayid (Solitary)
Boone (Hearts and Minds)
Michael (Special)
Jin (In Translation)
Hurley (Numbers)
Walt (some flashback info. in Special)

Those who have an upcoming flashback episode:
4/13/05 Locke (Deus Ex Machina)
4/20/05 Jack (Do No Harm)
4/27/05 Sayid (The Greater Good)

Edited from original post: Kate will have a flashback episode after Sayid, then we will have the season finale when they all boarded the plane.

Based on this (not sure it means anything)
We will have the most information on Jack and could possibly learn everything we need to know about him and his past.

Locke could be going because his episode could tell us all about his past

Sayid could be going because his episode could tell us all about his past

Does anyone think there is anything more to learn about Jin?

Does anyone think there is anything more to learn about Michael?

So based on the info. we have right now, this is my list of who I think WILL NOT DIE and why:

Charlie: The spoiler said it's not him

Walt: He had some flashback in Michael's episode, but I don't think that's all we're going to get.

Sawyer: We have an idea why he was in the police station with Boone, but nothing has been confirmed. I don't think they would leave that story hanging like that. I also don't think he's a much loved character, and I don't think he trusts anyone (even Kate) to have a close ally.

Hurley: I think Kristen ruled him out in her latest chat when she said she wasn't referring to size, and I think his numbers have too much significance. Right now he's the only one who knows about them besides Danielle.

So this is who I think MIGHT DIE and why:

Jack: He will have had 4 flasback episodes by then. We should have the most info on him and his story could possibly be resolved. He is one of the biggest characters and has allies. He would trust someone enough to be betrayed. I read (don't know if it's true or not) that JJ Abrams has another show coming out and Jack is set to star in it. He was originally going to die in the pilot episode.

Locke: We'll have more info. on him, and I think he would be considered a much loved character. I don't really think it will be him because he seems like a spiritual leader or something. He's also seen the secrets of the island. I think he'll stick around for awhile.

Sayid: He's a much loved character, and has allies (Jack, Charlie, Shannon).

Boone: I don't know what else we need to know about him. He has said there's something big coming up with him that will change the scope of the show. Could be death...Could cause Sayid's death out of jealousy over Shannon...

Michael: Certainly not one of the biggest characters, but it would be tear-jerking if he died leaving Walt behind...of course Walt could then go under Locke's care and start doing creepy stuff.

Jin: Again, not one of the biggest characters, but not sure there's much more story out there for him. I really don't think it's him.

Yes, I know, I'm totally obsessed with this

I posted this on the regular thread in white, but wanted to post it here as well:

Check this out:

As for the season finale, this is what Watch with Kristin has to say: "We'll go back to the very beginning, when they all boarded the plane. Also...Ha! Love it! Just got a call from a source who wanted to spread this word to you: There's buzz over at camp Lost that there's going to be an episode from the perspective of the dog, Vincent! And it's actually very relevant, because we see what happened in the cargo hold."

Ohh, good spoiler.

I said I was going to quit posting, but now I'm thinking of something else.

Kristen said in the finale we will learn who Ethan is. Maybe Ethan was in the cargo hold? Or is that just crazy thinking on my part?

Maybe its the Dog that passes?? Just Kidding, love this thread, I get a LOT more out of this one.

I'm thinking it may be Jack. Of course, that could all change tomorrow. :teeth:

Lots of good theories here, but i'm sure there are lots on the ABC boards too

I think Locke is going to die, it just seems like he has something to do with helping people heal themselves one by one, so when he gets to the last person, his mission is accomplished.....lol

I read either here or on another spoiler, something about Locke knowing all about the people before hand, like he made a deal to help the people on the Island and had to learn all about them in order to help them survive, his payment was being able to walk again .. so many theories...ugggghhhh :listen:
