Lost Tickets

I'm hoping someone here can offer suggestions on this situation. My parents got back from WDW last night and sometime today realized the ticket they purchased for my father is missing. They do have the receipt and called Disney this afternoon and were told that they can get them replaced "on their next Disney vacation." Somehow this doesn't make sense to us and it really makes us uneasy having a ticket missing and not being able to get a replacement until possibly years from now. The guy on the phone claimed it was no big deal because of the finger scanners (that I've seen not work and the CM just manually enters the person). I pray someone here has better knowledge than the CM on the phone, which usually you all do! Thanks in advance.

While yes they can really only reissue a ticket when you are there but they should at least void the old ticket.

They would void just the physical ticket not the record of the ticket.

It's really easy to replace a ticket. I walked up with my ID, they looked it up, and gave me a new one. The ticket is tied to your driver's license number, so they have a record of it. I understand your worry, but in this case, the CM is correct, and you should have no issues obtaining a new ticket!

How? :confused3 I get my tickets through Under Cover Tourist and they never ask for my Drivers Licence.

Do they ask if you buy them at the Gate?

You need either the receipt that OP has or the numbers on the ticket itself. I just didn't want people to think they only needed they DL to get a ticket replaced.

The only ticket that they could use a DL is an AP.

But again CM's do this all the time.

We called again and were transferred multiple times and were then told to call back tomorrow because the ticket people were gone for the day. So here's hoping something more satisfactory happens tomorrow. I have found instances online where people have had replacement tickets Fedex-ed to their homes so fingers crossed. I just hate seeing my parents stressed out about things.

Tickets are not tied to your drivers license number.

It is tied to your name, address and birth date. We do not put the DL# into the system.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in this Forum, especially Post #13, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature. The ticket sticky is your friend!

They will not replace lost tickets over the phone. The best you could hope for is that they take action to make the ticket unusable until you can get to an actual ticket or Guest Relations window.

I was hoping you would see this thread ;) We would be fine with the outcome of waiting to get a physical ticket when he eventually gets back there if we can make sure there is zero chance someone can try and use the original ticket. If they void the original ticket, is there a time limit for getting the new ticket (don't want to risk the information disappearing)? My father had over 3 years pass between this trip and his last trip and who knows when he can get back.

AS long as still has days left on it they will still keep track. The piece Tyvek, not paper, just represents a record in a computer database.

I would think they need to void the ticket so if someone picks it up it can't be used.

If you have the receipt it will have the numbers on it. This can be used to pull up the ticket information and see how many days are left. They can and will issue another ticket.

The first thing I do when I get a new ticket is photocopy the back so I have a record of the numbers. I keep a copy in a file at home and take a copy in my carry on bag when I travel to WDW in case a ticket is lost. If you don't have this ticket information they can't look it up. Tickets cost way too much not to try to protect yourself.

I'd definitely call back and talk to someone who can give you good answers.

Good luck!

I've never been asked for driver's license number. Not for APs or regular tickets, purchased from Disney or elsewhere.

Did he write his name on the ticket?

Occasionally a slipup by or bamboozling of a CM can result in a lost ticket being found by someone else and reactivated in the finder's name. Hence there is no guarantee that a lost ticket can be replaced for you.

YOu can hope that by calling promptly you can have them flag the ticket as lost, but there is no way to prove that you made the phone call tomorrow when you visit 3 years from now (other than the name and city of the person you talked to scrawled on an envelope).

That's what the CM told me when I got it replaced... he said that's all they put in the system.

I will tell you to keep the receipt. Scan it, save it to your computer, and email it to 3 different people.

We lost some unused tickets (in our house, during a move) that were part of a package. According to the sticky, I assumed they would be able to easily get it replaced--being under my name and purchased directly from Disney with our Disney Visa. Not so!

1) DH had his wallet stolen so our Visa number had changed
2) Our computer had crashed and with it was lost the back of the ticket scan (that's why you should email it to several people)
3) It had been so long ago that those tickets were kicked out of the system. The system, or so the Guest Relations Manager told me, their records only go so far back.

It's one of those things that you hope another CM will know some other trick for when you go back, but I have a feeling not so much. At least you have the receipt and that should help you.

What kind of ticket was it? Also CM's sometimes tell guests that aren't really true.

Like other have posted they don't ask for a DL when you just buy tickets at the gate so it must have been looking up your name.
