Taken from next week's TV Guide:
"But Lost's most unexpected twist this season occurred off screen: The writer's strike means that the number of original episodes drops to eight from the planned 16."
So it's only going to be on for two months (or actually less, if there's a two hour premiere)???
From what I gather off of Entertainment Weekly.com...
ABC planned to air 16 consecutive episodes this season with no repeats. They only finished 8 before the writer's went on strike. They plan to finish the remaining 8 for this season once the strike ends.
Same with 24... they wanted to air all the episodes consecutively without repeats. They have some episodes done, but they won't air them until the strike is over and they can run them without repeats.
