I recieved my issue of TV Guide in the mail yesterday, and who was on the cover? Sun and Jin! There was an episode guide of season 2, and a few facts about season 3, including the release schedule. (These are not spoilers, it's just when the episodes will air.)

Season three will start on Oct 4th. There will be a new episode every week for six weeks. Then there will be a break between the sixth and seventh episode, for, are you ready for this, a whole three months. :guilty: Then it will pick up in Feb, and run continous new episodes until the May finale.

I had originally heard a rumor that it would be eight new episodes, then a month break, then eight new, then a break. So new episodes would of aired Oct/Nov, Jan/Feb, and Apr/May, but that was just a rumor, and that new six episodes - three month break is what's going to happen.

Personally I liked the first idea better. The eight episodes with month long breaks, so it would have been like three mini-seasons.

The six episodes are just going to tease me with speculation, and you know there going to have some huge cliff hanger at the end of the sixth episode. I mean, last year the sixth episode was when Shannon was shot. Would anyone have been able to wait three months for a new episode after that? I think not.

I just don't think it's fair that we have to wait four months for only six episodes, and then have to wait another three months again. :sad2:

I could just say forgot it - I'll wait until it's on DVD. But I'm addicted to the show, and it would be an even longer wait for the DVD. And I need to know what happens to Kate, Jack, and Sawyer.

I'm ok with it. I think it is better than all the 1 episode, repeat, 2 new shows, 3 repeats, 1 new show, repeat...that they did last year.

The break is a little long but a lot of it falls between thanksgiving and the new year. I know I don't get to a lot of TV during that time so hopefully not worrying about missing 'my show' will make me less stressed!

It'll be the end of Jan/early Feb that will be the killer!

I noticed JJ is working on another show, and with MI:3 he got into the movie directing business. I'm sure there will be more. Alias took a quality nose dive IMO after he started working on Lost.

If this is what it takes to get keep the original creators involved then I'm all for it.

In an ideal world, they would just play the whole thing back to back with no breaks.

I watch Sopranos, so I am used to waiting a LONG time between seasons, so (hopefully) waiting for Lost won't be too bad.

You have two good points. It is better then the one episode, repeat, two new shows, three repeats, one new show, repeat, that they did last year.

And I do have other things to do those months. Including a trip to Disney in Dec! :goodvibes Which last year I left the parks early to make it back to my resort in time for Lost, but that's a different story.

Thanks! I may need to stop and pick one up. I don't like the schedule either but something is better than nothing.

I think this new ploy to put weeks, months, years between shows is bad.

I have totally lost interest in Sopranos and could care less about it.

I think that Lost will lose a lot of viewers this year unless the episodes are top notch and keep us interested. As another poster said..JJ is working on other things. If the writing starts to lack and the first 6 shows don't wow us...who will care very much when they come back?

I love the show, but to be honest as time goes by the interest does weaken.
Especially because I felt that a few of the last shows were "filler".
I am not sure what I think about a whole season about the "others" and their camp and NEW characters. :)

If anyone else has a memory like mine it is also terrible because you forget so much important stuff in between shows.

I believe some of the weaker episodes that some people call filler could end up being very important. I noticed this with the first season and how it related to the second season. Many of the big things to come out in the second related to some of the episodes in the first season that didn't make a lot of sense at first.

That's true. I never thought about it that way. But everything always connects on that show, like how the plane was Eko's, and appeared on the show awhile before even Eko did, so I'm sure the writer's know what their doing. But, I wasn't complaining about the shows themselves, just the schedule. But I do agree with cardaway, I just don't like the breaks. Also, I know Matthew Fox needed time off - maybe that has something to do with it?

Last week I made the mistake of watching the first show of season one of Lost. I became so obessed that I went out and bought season one the next day and watched all that in 48 hours. Then I downloaded all of season two from iTunes. I finshed that two days later. Now what am I supposed to do? Wait for weeks and months at a time to watch the next episode like the rest of you do? God that sucks! ;) I wish I would have just waited until the whole show had run its course and then bought all the seasons. Yikes! Cliffhangers suck!

I saw the first and second seasons this summer on DVD. DH and I are addicted, it didn’t take much. I can't wait for October!!!! :woohoo:

yuck! don't like the new schedule :( when does Season 2 come out on DVD?? DH and i are hoping it's before the drive to WDW!! so we have something to watch!! ::yes::

They did this for the fans believe it or not. They got a lot of complaints last year about the scheduling -- talk about nutty. You would have two new episodes then a three week break, then one new episode, then a one week break....you never knew when new episodes were going to air!

I agree the three month break sucks, but once the episodes get started I want them to just go all the way through instead of taking a break here and a break there.

Forgot to add, this new way of scheduling somehow costs them more money (??).

I'd rather the 3 month break, than off and on for the whole season and never knowing when the new episodes will air.

Isn't ABC supposed to be airing new shows during that three-month break? What am I supposed to watch during those three months without Lost? But I do agree, it is much better than last season, being that there will only be one long break.

the only bad thing is having to adjust the TIVO for the breaks
