LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

No way. I dont' think Sun killed Jae at all. I think it either was suicide, or Sun's father.

I think it was either suicide, Sun's fathers, or some henchman Sun's father sent after Jin to make sure he finished the job.

What about Ben telling Jack he's been on the island his entire life? What did you think about that statement?

Did anyone else start fearing for Sun's life as soon as it was revealed that she had an affair? I mean, it seems other than Sun, every woman on the show that has had sex has ended up dead--within about 10 minutes of the sex! GF and I figured that Sun must have spared this punishment since she was married when she had sex on the Island (after Jin got back from being with the tail section group). But when we heard she had an affair, I thought--oh no, sex outside of marriage...she's going to die soon! Maybe Libby had to go because she was starting to like Hurly and that would have eventually led to sex.

Seriously, has anyone else noticed this tendency for women who have sex to die--and is it just me or is really disturbing? If they're doing some weird madonna/***** thing and Sun dies too I might have to stop watching the show. :confused3

I believe Jae committed suicide. It wouldn't make sense for him to have the pearls in his hand otherwise. He probably didn't want to leave forever knowing he'd never see Sun again, and he couldn't stay or he would be killed.

I think Kate just knows there is no way out of the situation. She fought when she wasn't sure what they were all up against, but now that's she's seen, she knows that escape probably isn't going to happen. No way is she working for the Others. I just don't buy it at all.

Well Rose seems to be safe so far, and she and Bernard are probably  , if you know what I mean?!

Anyone think there is any relavence between the pearls Jae tried to give Sun and THE PEARL observation station? I don't think that's a coincidence.

I agree with this!

Now, thats very confusing...maybe Dharma Experiment was going on LONGER than we have led to believe? :confused3 The Computer was old, but the Washing machine seemed newer. :confused3 Where and HOW are they getting the supplies? Have they not told the "outside world" they are all trapped there? :confused3 Is there a way OFF the Island and ONLY Ben knows?

I had the feeling that Sun actually pushed him over the railing...especially since he had the pearls in his hand.....then when the girl on the boat told Sun that she wouldn't shoot her.....she did. I took that as.....you (the others) don't know me (Sun) at all, I am capable of killing. JMHO.

I thought it was Sun also because right before he falls onto Jins car you can hear high heels on the sidewalk walking kind of fast.

Would she really have had the time to push him over the balcony if the shoes were heard clicking on the pavement so closely to the time he fell on the car?

Just wanted to throw this out there for any of the other comic book fans out there. Maybe it's just me, but did anyone else flash on "Watchmen?" Specifically, the scene showing Henry sitting in front of the video monitors reminded me of a scene with one of the characters, Ozymandias, is watching broadcasts from around the world.

For those unfamiliar, "Watchmen" was a graphic novel about costumed adventurers in as realistic a world as has been seen facing what appears to be a plot to kill them, even though most have retired.

NOTE** BIG HUGE SPOILERS TO WATCHMEN. IF YOU'VE HEARD ABOUT IT AND HAVE WANTED TO READ IT BUT HAVEN'T YET, TURN BACK NOW ***

Ozymandias was one who retired and went public, but in an effort to save the world from the impending WWIII he foresaw, he decided to unite the US and the Soviet Union by providing them with a common threat -- the harbinger of an alien invasion which left millions in NYC dead. While he considered himself a good guy, his methods were not that of one.

There could be a strong analogy between Ben and Ozymandias. Ben has described himself and the Others as "the good guys," but their methods -- kidnapping Claire and the children from the tail section, using Michael to kill Ana Lucia and Libby and lure Jack, Kate, and Sawyer into a trap -- don't exactly make them seem "good."

I'm not familiar with comics, but what you've explained is something that has crossed my mind more than once. We hear the Others constantly telling us they're the good guys, and the creators have hinted since day one that we're in for a role reversal, but it seems that even with the best of intentions their behaviour is suspect - I mean you can't just kidnap, kill, enslave, and threaten people and just say, "trust us!" and not expect them to be on the defensive. It seems as though there is some ultimately "good" thing they're doing that we haven't learned yet, but they have a "the ends justify the means" sort of attitude about it.

Second, I agree that it seemed that Ben wants that boat to get himself off of the island but remember what one of them said? That Sayid, Sun and Jin would be "going around in circles." Would this be due to the magnetic force? If so, how was Michael and Walt able to go home?

What's up with Rousseau's daughter? Do you think that she will help them escape as well? She was looking for the young guy that helped Sawyer escape the bear cage and we don't know what happened to him. Hmmmmm :scratchin

I caught the going around in circles comment too.. I have a feeling we have not seen the last of Michael & Walt

And did anyone think that 'Benry' giving Kate, what we know now is, Rousseau's daughters' dress as making Kate a 'replacement' for the once loyal daughter... who is her father anyway??

I wonder if Hawaii's earthquake has interfered with Lost's production in any way??

Did anyone think about The Pirates of the Caribbean with Kates dress? She had to put the dress on to eat with Ben and then later they told her she could either wear the dress or be Naked! :scared1:

No, didn't make that connection (but now that you mention, I definitely see it!). . but I DID think PoC when the Others got onto the boat seemingly from the ocean. Hmm. . . maybe Damon's office being directly across from where they are filming Pirates 3 is getting into his head. :rotfl:

I think that he commited suicide. If you think about the espisode, Sun's father only tells Jin that Jae has dishonored the family and that he must be taken care of (ie killed). He never says that Jae was sleeping with his daughter. Jin makes the decision to confront Jae and tell him to leave the country and never come back, again never saying that he knew he was sleeping with his wife. Jae then terrified and full of guilt commits suicide and takes the pearls he was trying to give to Sun. I do not think anyone threw him off the balconey as Sun's Father sent Jin to kill Jae. Her Father thought that Jin just made the whole thing look like a suicide and was carring out his orders.

I think Sun's father ordered somebody else to follow on on the killing of Jae. I think if I remember correctly another time that Jin was ordered to do something he didn't want or wasn't brutal enough Sun's father had somebody check up on him. I also thought I saw something in the scene that made me think Jin had figured out why this was ordered. I'm going to re-watch to see what. I think Jae would still have tried to see Sun out of the country. There was still a possibility she would be leaving.

Before I start, I'd just like to vent about the amount of commercials. I honestly think the commercial time is the same, if not more than the actually show time.
Okay, with that off my chest, it was great to see Locke, Eko, Desmond and Hurley again! I think Hurley has lost a little weight, at least it looked that way to me.
Poor John, he really has been taken advantage of so many times. I really feel bad for him. I hope he does end up saving them, so he can be the hero for once.
It looks like Desmond is able to see the future. I wonder if this will be a permanent thing?
The scene between Hurley and Desmond was too funny. It was really great having the comic relief back.

It's getting ridiculous. At least have fewer but longer breaks - I'd much prefer that. I know they need to get "paid" for running the show, but a commercial break after every scene and a flashback is a little much! Especially around the middle of the hour when there was 3 minutes of the show squeezed between two 3 or 4 minute spot blocks.

I recorded the show, and cut out all the commercials so I just checked the actual length of the show. I have 42 minutes and 59 seconds of LOST.

And side note: I CANNOT believe we're halfway through already! Only 6 episodes in this "bunch" and the rest not til next year. Gonna be a long couple months.

But otherwise, GREAT episode! I love seeing our "old" Locke back. And Boone! He got cuter! :rotfl: That little hallucination was rather interesting. . . I'm sure there are all sorts of hints and clues packed into that minute of Boone pushing Locke through the airport. It seems Boone was foreshadowing a number of things. Obviously that Locke would rescue Eko, and then help Jack, Kate and Sawyer. That Sayid was taking care of Jin and Sun. With that kind of accuracy, methinks that Charlie, Claire and the baby are going to be in some trouble at some point later this season. And what to make of Hurley entering the numbers into the computer? Like I said, LOTS of interesting stuff in that sequence.
