LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

I dunno. He just became too animated and cheerful during that conversation. I'd think if it was concern for his nutty son, he'd be very serious, no matter whom he was talking to. But he was grinning like a school boy in love. Then before hanging up he looked at his cell and had a little spring in his step.

:confused3

Maybe Jack's dad was the initial reason Sarah left Jack, but THEN moved on to Mr. Brown Haired Guy by the car. :confused3

But we don't even know that it was Sara he was talking to that time. Jack was perceiving it to be Sara because his dad looked happy.

GoodFairies, what are the numbers in your siggy? Are those your hatch numbers? :lmao:

It's the time before the world ends ;)
It's from one of my favorite movies, Donnie Darko.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't believe Sarah and Jack's dad had an affair. I think that question was actually answered when we saw her leave with that other man, just to let us know that Sarah and Jack's dad were just trying to help Jack in their phone conversations to each other.

One other very far fetched idea I had was that based on the Petula Clark song Juliette was listening to and Carrie being the book they read in their book club that maybe somehow these younger looking people are actually some of the researchers from the original Dharma project that take the syrum to retain their youth. The song (from the late 60's) and the book (from 1974) actually date them to that period. Because of the anti aging effect of the drug, and the need to continue taking it and the fact the were not aging they could not interact with the outside world. Kinda of the good news bad news scenario like the one from Indiana Jones three with the Holy Grail. The good news is you can live forever, the bad news is you can never leave this place.

Not so far fetched with this island. :thumbsup2 Sounds like a great theory.

Have you seen the official LOST video podcast?
Two of the ?writers talk about the show and this is one thing they said with certainty....that Walt is fine. He'll come back into the story line in awhile.

:thumbsup2

Do we even know that Sarah and Jack's dad were having phone conversations? Just because his phone # was in her phone means nothing. My DH has all of my family's home/cell #s in his phone even though he never calls them. I also have my MILs number in my phone and, believe me, I'm not calling her. :rotfl:

Because they were both worried about Jack and how he was acting like a nutcase.

But why was Jack acting like a nutcase? Because he wanted to know the guys name? It seemed to me like he was pretty damn PO'ed because *itch left him (that's as ghetto as I get). I guess I am a little lost because his wife wanted a divorce so he was angry. What am I missing...??

Update

They took down the picture of the little girl in Jack's room on ABC.com

http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage.php?album=1164&pos=45

Also look at picture 49 for a close-up

I have one of two thoeries:

2. they cut out a scence were Jack saves a little girl from chocking in one of his flashbacks, and it is just the image of that girl

Actually I read a spoiler about this a while back (highlight): I remember seeing a picture of Jack on the playground where he appeared to be saving a little girl from choking. It looks like they cut out this scene.

I think all three of them were knocked out and given something to get info from them, whatever the drug that would do the trick. I think Juliet telling Jack about what she knew was a way to "break" him.

I really do not think that the others have much contact with the outside world. Another thing that makes me think this is in previews from next week, Henry/Ben is told about the sailboat and he says "I want that boat". They did have the boat they sent Michael and Walt out in, but it is small and is not really meant for the high seas and they are in the middle of the ocean. A sailboat on the other hand could take them away from there.

Well, we don't know. He obviously had EXTREME paranoia...maybe he just snapped when his wife decided to leave him...or maybe he was starting to act that way before and that's why she decided to leave him. Either way, we haven't seen the whole story yet, and I guess it will be answered at some point.

Didn't Jacks father say that Sarah was worried and called him once about Jack but he was drunk?

Yeah- but he was calling numbers off the a list of numbers from the phone bill

I thought that was Sarah telling Jack that his father did call and it was to tell Sarah that Jack was in jail and to go bail him out and he was really drunk so he couldn't do it himself. Sarah was telling this to Jack to point out that his Father's 50 days of sobriety went down the tube because of the fight with Jack and now Jack has something else he can blame himself for. Jack seems to blame himself for many things that go wrong - the failure of the marriage, his Father's death, Boone's death, etc

Ah, I thought he had her phone. OK so she did call him, but why on Earth would Jack assume that meant they were having an affair. He definitely IS paranoid.

THat's MY theory too. Exactly what I said when I saw the bandaids on their arms. The 'thick file' was just a ploy to make Jack think the others 'knew' all about him......

Didn't they take blood from someone else last season? Michael maybe? :confused3

Hmmm....were those numbers in Sarah's cell phone book or were those in her "recently called" list?

I took it to mean those were in the "recently called" numbers (or those recent incoming calls) :confused3

I thought Jack had a hard copy of Sarah's phone bill. I thought it was a little strange that Jack didn't recognize his father's cell phone number before calling it. I know my families cell ph#s by heart, or maybe I'm just weird like that :confused3

I gotta admit that I don't know anyones phone number since cell phones became popular, it's just so convenient to have it programmed in automatcially. I always make attempt to learn them for emergencies but as soon as I do they switch to another plan and lose the number :teeth:

I think the producers are looking at 5 years. That seems kind of sad, but I don't think my brain can handle much more than that anyway. :teeth:

That's what I read as well - when they sat down with the original plan, it would take 5 years to get through the whole story. I do recall them saying that as they get deeper into stories that they may stretch it 6 or 7 just to get some more info in, but really not beyond that.

I guess that also fits with someone's earlier question about whether they are keeping track of things. They have basically the skeleton of the story and the mythology of the island all figured out and have had that since day one. It's the little extras, the character stories, etc that they take a little more freedom with - they can kill off or add in as many characters as they want to build the story within the story but the main details and "secrets" are pretty solid and thought-out.
