I think so too. I couldn't figure out what the symbol was but it would make sense if that was it.

I wonder if it is some sort of government program...I mean if the sharks had the symbol...?? Maybe they were there to keep people from getting to the island....or from LEAVING!!

I really think that the Island is a governmental thing, some sort of science project gone wrong. Kind of like Juracic Park.

Yep that was in the previews. They showed one of them tumble into a hole. They showed Michael say something about a girl in there with them, then they showed her, asking them what were they doing there then Michael told her they had been in a plane crash and she said flight 815.
